23Then Kingהַמֶּ֣לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֔הshe.lo.MohH8010sworeוַיִּשָּׁבַע֙vai.yi.sha.Va'H7650by the Lordבַּֽיהוָ֖הba.Yah.wehH3068,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “May Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430doיַֽעֲשֶׂה־ya.'a.seh-H6213soכֹּ֣הkohH3541to me and moreיוֹסִ֔יףyo.SifH3254soוְכֹ֣הve.KhohH3541,ifכִּ֣יkiH3588Adonijahאֲדֹ֣נִיָּ֔הוּ'a.Do.ni.Ya.huH138hasnot spokenדִּבֶּר֙di.BerH1696thisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088wordהַדָּבָ֖רha.da.VarH1697against his ownlifeבְנַפְשׁ֔וֹve.naf.ShoH5315!

24Nowוְעַתָּ֗הve.'a.TahH6258then, as the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068livesחַי־chai-H2416,whoH834has establishedהֱכִינַ֗נִיhe.khi.Na.niH3559me and setוַיּֽוֹשִׁיבַ֙נִי֙vai.yo.shi.vi.niH3427me on the throneכִּסֵּא֙ki.Se'H3678of Davidדָּוִ֣דda.VidH1732my fatherאָבִ֔י'a.ViH1, andhas madeעָֽשָׂה־'a.sah-H6213me a houseבַּ֖יִתBa.yitH1004justH3512asH3512Hepromisedדִּבֵּ֑רdi.BerH1696,Adonijahאֲדֹנִיָּֽהוּ׃'a.do.ni.Ya.huH138certainlyכִּ֣יkiH3588shall be putיוּמַ֖תyu.MatH4191toH4191deathH4191todayהַיּ֔וֹםhai.YomH3117!”

25Then Kingהַמֶּ֣לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֔הshe.lo.MohH8010sentוַיִּשְׁלַח֙vai.yish.LachH7971the orderby Benaiahבְּנָיָ֣הוּbe.na.Ya.huH1141the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Jehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֑עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077; and hestruckוַיִּפְגַּע־vai.yif.ga'-H6293him so that he diedוַיָּמֹֽת׃ סvai.ya.MotH4191.

26Then to Abiatharוּלְאֶבְיָתָ֨רu.le.'ev.ya.TarH54the priestהַכֹּהֵ֜ןha.ko.HenH3548the kingהַמֶּ֗לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saidאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559, “Goלֵ֣ךְlekhH1980to Anathothעֲנָתֹת֙'a.na.TotH6068to your own fieldשָׂדֶ֔יךָsa.Dei.khaH7704, for youdeserveאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376to dieמָ֖וֶתMa.vetH4194;but I will not putאֲמִיתֶ֗ךָ'a.mi.Te.khaH4191you toH4191deathH4191at thisהַזֶּ֜הha.ZehH2088timeוּבַיּ֨וֹםu.vai.YomH3117,becauseH3588you carriedנָשָׂ֜אתָna.Sa.taH5375the arkאֲר֨וֹן'a.RonH727of the Lordאֲדֹנָ֤י'a.do.NaiH136GodH3068beforeלִפְנֵי֙lif.NeiH6440my fatherאָבִ֔י'a.ViH1Davidדָּוִ֣דda.VidH1732,and becauseH3588you were afflictedהִתְעַנִּ֔יתָhit.'a.Ni.taH6031in everythingבְּכֹ֥לbe.KholH3605with whichאֲשֶֽׁר־'a.Sher-H834my fatherאָבִֽי׃'a.ViH1was afflictedהִתְעַנָּ֖הhit.'a.NahH6031.”

27So Solomonשְׁלֹמֹה֙she.lo.MohH8010dismissedוַיְגָ֤רֶשׁvay.Ga.reshH1644Abiatharאֶבְיָתָ֔ר'ev.ya.TarH54from beingמִהְי֥וֹתmih.YotH1961priestכֹּהֵ֖ןko.HenH3548to the Lordלַֽיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068,to fulfillלְמַלֵּא֙le.ma.Le'H4390the wordדְּבַ֣רde.VarH1697of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834He had spokenדִּבֶּ֛רdi.BerH1696regardingעַל־'al-H5921the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of Eliעֵלִ֖י'e.LiH5941in Shilohבְּשִׁלֹֽה׃ פbe.shi.LohH7887.

28Now the newsוְהַשְּׁמֻעָה֙ve.ha.she.mu.'AhH8052cameבָּ֣אָהBa.'ahH935to Joabיוֹאָ֔בyo.'AvH3097becauseכִּ֣יkiH3588Joabיוֹאָ֗בyo.'AvH3097had followedנָטָה֙ אַחֲרֵ֣יna.Tah 'a.cha.ReiH5186 H310Adonijahאֲדֹנִיָּ֔ה'a.do.ni.YahH138,though he had not followedוְאַחֲרֵ֥י נָטָ֑הve.'a.cha.Rei na.TahH310 H5186Absalomאַבְשָׁל֖וֹם'av.sha.LomH53.So Joabיוֹאָב֙yo.'AvH3097fledוַיָּ֤נָסvai.Ya.nosH5127to the tentאֹ֣הֶל'O.helH168of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068andtookH2388holdוַֽיַּחֲזֵ֖קvai.ya.cha.ZekH2388of the hornsבְּקַרְנ֥וֹתbe.kar.NotH7161of the altarהַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃ha.miz.Be.achH4196.

29And it was reportedוַיֻּגַּ֞דvai.yu.GadH5046to Kingלַמֶּ֣לֶךְla.Me.lekhH4428Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֗הshe.lo.MohH8010that Joabיוֹאָב֙yo.'AvH3097had fledנָ֤סnasH5127to the tentאֹ֣הֶל'O.helH168of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068, andwas besideאֵ֣צֶל'E.tzelH681the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַha.miz.Be.achH4196.Then Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֜הshe.lo.MohH8010sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֨חvai.yish.LachH7971Benaiahבְּנָיָ֧הוּbe.na.Ya.huH1141the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Jehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֛עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077,sayingלֵאמֹ֖רle.MorH559, “Goלֵ֥ךְlekhH1980,executeפְּגַע־pe.ga'-H6293him.”

30So Benaiahבְנָיָ֜הוּve.na.Ya.huH1141cameוַיָּבֹ֨אvai.ya.Vo'H935to the tentאֹ֣הֶל'O.helH168of the Lordיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068and saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “ThisH3541isH3541whatH3541the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428has saidאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559: ‘Comeצֵ֔אTze'H3318outH3318.’”But he saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶר׀vai.Yo.merH559, “Noלֹ֖אlo'H3808,for I will dieאָמ֑וּת'a.MutH4191hereפֹ֣הfohH6311.”So Benaiahבְּנָיָ֤הוּbe.na.Ya.huH1141broughtH7725backוַיָּ֨שֶׁבvai.Ya.shevH7725wordדָּבָ֣רda.VarH1697to the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “ThisH3541isH3541whatH3541Joabיוֹאָ֖בyo.'AvH3097spokeדִבֶּ֥רdi.BerH1696,and soH3541he answeredעָנָֽנִי׃'a.Na.niH6030me.”

31And the kingהַמֶּ֗לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֧אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Doעֲשֵׂה֙'a.SehH6213justH3512asH3512he has spokenדִּבֶּ֔רdi.BerH1696, andexecuteוּפְגַע־u.fe.ga'-H6293him and buryוּקְבַרְתּ֑וֹu.ke.var.ToH6912him,so that you may removeוַהֲסִירֹ֣תָ׀va.ha.si.Ro.taH5493fromH5493me and from my father’sאָבִֽי׃'a.ViH1houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004the bloodדְּמֵ֣יde.MeiH1818whichH834Joabיוֹאָ֔בyo.'AvH3097shedשָׁפַ֣ךְsha.FakhH8210withoutH2600justificationH2600.

32The Lordיְהוָ֨הYah.wehH3068will returnוְהֵשִׁיב֩ve.he.ShivH7725his bloodדָּמ֜וֹda.MoH1818on his own headרֹאשׁ֗וֹro.ShoH7218,becauseאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834hestruckפָּגַ֣עpa.Ga'H6293twoבִּשְׁנֵֽי־bish.nei-H8147menH376moreמִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙mi.Me.nuH4480righteousצַדִּקִ֨יםtza.di.KimH6662and betterוְטֹבִ֤יםve.to.VimH2896thanH4480he, and killedוַיַּהַרְגֵ֣םvai.ya.har.GemH2026them with the swordבַּחֶ֔רֶבba.Che.revH2719,while my fatherוְאָבִ֥יve.'a.ViH1Davidדָוִ֖דda.VidH1732did not knowיָדָ֑עya.Da'H3045about it:Abnerאַבְנֵ֤ר'av.NerH74the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nerנֵר֙nerH5369,commanderשַׂר־sar-H8269of the armyצְבָ֣אtze.Va'H6635of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478, andAmasaעֲמָשָׂ֥א'a.ma.Sa'H6021the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Jetherיֶ֖תֶרYe.terH3500,commanderשַׂר־sar-H8269of the armyצְבָ֥אtze.Va'H6635of Judahיְהוּדָֽה׃ye.hu.DahH3063.

33So their bloodדְמֵיהֶם֙de.mei.HemH1818shall returnוְשָׁ֤בוּve.Sha.vuH7725on the headבְּרֹ֣אשׁbe.RoshH7218of Joabיוֹאָ֔בyo.'AvH3097and on the headוּבְרֹ֥אשׁu.ve.RoshH7218of hisdescendantsזַרְע֖וֹzar.'OH2233foreverלְעֹלָ֑םle.'o.LamH5769;but for Davidוּלְדָוִ֡דu.le.da.VidH1732and hisdescendantsוּ֠לְזַרְעוֹu.le.zar.'oH2233,and his houseוּלְבֵית֨וֹu.le.vei.ToH1004and his throneוּלְכִסְא֜וֹu.le.khis.'OH3678,may there be peaceשָׁל֛וֹםsha.LomH7965from the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068foreverעַד־ עוֹלָ֖ם'ad- o.LamH5704 H5769.”

34ThenBenaiahבְּנָיָ֙הוּ֙be.na.Ya.huH1141the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jehoiadaיְה֣וֹיָדָ֔עye.Ho.ya.Da'H3077wentH5927upH5927andstruckוַיִּפְגַּע־vai.yif.ga'-H6293him and putוַיְמִתֵ֑הוּvay.mi.Te.huH4191him toH4191deathH4191,and he was buriedוַיִּקָּבֵ֥רvai.yi.ka.VerH6912at his own houseבְּבֵית֖וֹbe.vei.ToH1004in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃ba.mid.BarH4057.

35Andthe kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428appointedוַיִּתֵּ֨ןvai.yi.TenH5414Benaiahבְּנָיָ֧הוּbe.na.Ya.huH1141the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Jehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֛עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077overעַל־'al-H5921the armyהַצָּבָ֑אha.tza.Va'H6635inH8478his placeתַּחְתָּ֖יוtach.TavH8478,and the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428appointedנָתַ֣ןna.TanH5414Zadokצָד֤וֹקtza.DokH6659the priestהַכֹּהֵן֙ha.ko.HenH3548inH8478placeתַּ֖חַתTa.chatH8478ofH8478Abiatharאֶבְיָתָֽר׃'ev.ya.TarH54.

36Now the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֤חvai.yish.LachH7971menand summonedוַיִּקְרָ֣אvai.yik.Ra'H7121Shimeiלְשִׁמְעִ֔יle.shim.'IH8096,and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Buildבְּֽנֵה־be.neh-H1129yourself a houseבַ֙יִת֙va.yitH1004in Jerusalemבִּיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םbi.Ru.sha.LimH3389and liveוְיָשַׁבְתָּ֖ve.ya.shav.TaH3427thereשָׁ֑םShamH8033,and do not leaveתֵצֵ֥אte.Tze'H3318thereמִשָּׁ֖םmi.ShamH8033for anyאָ֥נֶה'A.nehH575otherplaceוָאָֽנָה׃va.'A.nahH575.

37For on the dayבְּי֣וֹםbe.YomH3117you leaveצֵאתְךָ֗tze.te.KhaH3318andcrossוְעָֽבַרְתָּ֙ve.'a.var.TaH5674thebrookנַ֣חַלNa.chalH5158Kidronקִדְר֔וֹןkid.RonH6939,you will knowH3045forH3045certainH3045that you will assuredlyמ֣וֹתMotH4191dieתָּמ֑וּתta.MutH4191;your bloodדָּמְךָ֖da.me.KhaH1818will beon your own headבְרֹאשֶֽׁךָ׃ve.ro.She.khaH7218.”

38Shimeiשִׁמְעִ֤יshim.'IH8096then saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the kingלַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙la.Me.lekhH4428, “The wordהַדָּבָ֔רha.da.VarH1697is goodט֣וֹבTovH2896.JustH3512asH3512my lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428has spokenדִּבֶּר֙di.BerH1696,soכֵּ֖ןkenH3651your servantעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ'av.De.khaH5650shall doיַעֲשֶׂ֣הya.'a.SehH6213.”So Shimeiשִׁמְעִ֛יshim.'IH8096livedוַיֵּ֧שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427in Jerusalemבִּירוּשָׁלִַ֖םbi.ru.sha.LimH3389for manyרַבִּֽים׃ סra.BimH7227daysיָמִ֥יםya.MimH3117.

39But it cameH1961aboutH1961at the endמִקֵּץ֙mi.KetzH7093of threeשָׁלֹ֣שׁsha.LoshH7969yearsשָׁנִ֔יםsha.NimH8141,that twoשְׁנֵֽי־she.nei-H8147of Shimei’sלְשִׁמְעִ֔יle.shim.'IH8096servantsעֲבָדִים֙'a.va.DimH5650ranH1272awayH1272to Achishאָכִ֥ישׁ'a.KhishH397sonבֶּֽן־ben-H1121of Maacahמַעֲכָ֖הma.'a.KhahH4601,kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Gathגַּ֑תGatH1661. And otherstoldוַיַּגִּ֤ידוּvai.ya.Gi.duH5046Shimeiלְשִׁמְעִי֙le.shim.'IH8096,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Beholdהִנֵּ֥הhi.NehH2009,your servantsעֲבָדֶ֖יךָ'a.va.Dei.khaH5650are in Gathבְּגַֽת׃be.GatH1661.”

40Then Shimeiשִׁמְעִ֗יshim.'IH8096gotH6965upH6965and saddledוַֽיַּחֲבֹשׁ֙vai.ya.cha.VoshH2280his donkeyחֲמֹר֔וֹcha.mo.RoH2543,and wentוַיֵּ֤לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980to Gathגַּ֙תָה֙ga.tahH1661to Achishאָכִ֔ישׁ'a.KhishH397,to searchלְבַקֵּ֖שׁle.va.KeshH1245for his servantsעֲבָדָ֑יו'a.va.DavH5650.And Shimeiשִׁמְעִ֔יshim.'IH8096wentוַיֵּ֣לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980and broughtוַיָּבֵ֥אvai.ya.Ve'H935his servantsעֲבָדָ֖יו'a.va.DavH5650from Gathמִגַּֽת׃mi.GatH1661.

41And it was reportedוַיֻּגַּ֖דvai.yu.GadH5046to Solomonלִשְׁלֹמֹ֑הlish.lo.MohH8010that Shimeiשִׁמְעִ֧יshim.'IH8096had goneהָלַ֨ךְha.LakhH1980from Jerusalemמִירוּשָׁלִַ֛םmi.ru.sha.LimH3389to Gathגַּ֖תgatH1661,and had returnedוַיָּשֹֽׁב׃vai.ya.ShoH7725.

42So the kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֨חvai.yish.LachH7971menand summonedוַיִּקְרָ֣אvai.yik.Ra'H7121Shimeiלְשִׁמְעִ֗יle.shim.'IH8096,and saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Did I not make you swearהִשְׁבַּעְתִּ֣יךָhish.ba'.Ti.khaH7650by the Lordבַֽיהוָ֗הba.Yah.wehH3068,and solemnlyH5749warnוָאָעִ֤דva.'a.'IdH5749you, sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, ‘KnowH3045forH3045certainH3045that on the dayבְּי֣וֹםbe.YomH3117you departצֵאתְךָ֗tze.te.KhaH3318and goוְהָֽלַכְתָּ֙ve.ha.lakh.TaH1980anywhereH575,you shall assuredlyמ֣וֹתMotH4191dieתָּמ֑וּתta.MutH4191’?And you saidוַתֹּ֧אמֶרva.To.merH559to me, ‘The wordהַדָּבָ֖רha.da.VarH1697I have heardשָׁמָֽעְתִּי׃sha.Ma.'e.tiH8085is goodט֥וֹבTovH2896.’

43Whyוּמַדּ֕וּעַu.ma.Du.a'H4069then have you not keptשָׁמַ֔רְתָּsha.Mar.taH8104the oathשְׁבֻעַ֣תshe.vu.'AtH7621of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,and the commandהַמִּצְוָ֖הha.mitz.VahH4687whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834Iimposedצִוִּ֥יתִיtzi.Vi.tiH6680on you?”

44The kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428also saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Shimeiשִׁמְעִ֗יshim.'IH8096, “You yourselfאַתָּ֤ה'a.TahH859knowיָדַ֙עְתָּ֙ya.Da'.taH3045allכָּל־kol-H3605the evilH7463thatyou acknowledgeיָדַע֙ya.Da'H3045in your heartלְבָ֣בְךָ֔le.Va.ve.khaH3824,whichH834you didעָשִׂ֖יתָ'a.Si.taH6213to my fatherאָבִ֑י'a.ViH1Davidלְדָוִ֣דle.da.VidH1732; thereforethe Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068will returnוְהֵשִׁ֧יבve.he.ShivH7725your evilH7463on your own headבְּרֹאשֶֽׁךָ׃be.ro.She.khaH7218.

45But Kingוְהַמֶּ֥לֶךְve.ha.Me.lekhH4428Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֖הshe.lo.MohH8010will be blessedבָּר֑וּךְba.RukhH1288, andthe throneוְכִסֵּ֣אve.khi.Se'H3678of Davidדָוִ֗דda.VidH1732will be establishedנָכ֛וֹןna.KhonH3559beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068foreverעַד־ עוֹלָֽם׃'ad- o.LamH5704 H5769.”

46So the kingהַמֶּ֗לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428commandedוַיְצַ֣וvay.TzavH6680Benaiahבְּנָיָ֙הוּ֙be.na.Ya.huH1141the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jehoiadaיְה֣וֹיָדָ֔עye.Ho.ya.Da'H3077,and he wentH3318outH3318andstruckוַיִּפְגַּע־vai.yif.ga'-H6293him so that he diedוַיָּמֹ֑תvai.ya.MotH4191.And the kingdomוְהַמַּמְלָכָ֥הve.ha.mam.la.KhahH4467was establishedנָכ֖וֹנָהna.Kho.nahH3559in the handsבְּיַד־be.yad-H3027of Solomonשְׁלֹמֹֽה׃she.lo.MohH8010.
