Context of Isaiah 52:7
5And now, what do I have here,” declares the Lord, “seeing that My people have been taken away without reason?” Again the Lord declares, “Those who rule over them howl, and My name is continually reviled all day long. 6Therefore, My people shall know My name; therefore on that day I am the one who is speaking, ‘Here I am.’” How delightful on the mountains Are the feet of one who brings good news, Who announces peace And brings good news of happiness, Who announces salvation, And says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” 8Listen! Your watchmen raise their voices, They shout joyfully together; For they will see with their own eyes When the Lord restores Zion. 9Be cheerful, shout joyfully together, You ruins of Jerusalem; For the Lord has comforted His people, He has redeemed Jerusalem.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 7How beautiful - The watchmen discover afar off, on the mountains, the messenger bringing the expected and much-wished-for news of the deliverance from the Babylonish captivity. They immediately spread the joyful tidings, Isaiah 52:8, and with a loud voice proclaim that Jehovah is returning to Zion, to resume his residence on his holy mountain, which for some time he seemed to have deserted. This is the literal sense of the place. "How beautiful on the…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 7How beautiful upon the mountains - This passage is applied by Paul to the ministers of the gospel (see Romans 10:15). A herald bearing good news is a beautiful object; and he says that his feet are beautiful; that is, his running is beautiful. He came to…Read the comment
