Hebrews 9:6-28
6Now when these things have been so prepared, the priests 1are continually entering the 2outer 3tabernacle, performing the divine worship, 7but into 4the second, only 5the high priest enters 6once a year, 7not without taking blood which he 8offers for himself and for the 910sins of the people committed in ignorance. 811The Holy Spirit is signifying this, 12that the way into the holy place has not yet been disclosed while the 13outer tabernacle is still standing, 9which is a symbol for the present time. Accordingly 14both gifts and sacrifices are offered which 15cannot make the worshiper perfect in conscience, 10since they relate only to 16food, 17drink, and various 18washings, 19regulations for the 20body imposed until 21a time of reformation.
11But when Christ appeared as a 22high priest of the 23good things 24having come, He entered through 25the greater and more perfect 26tabernacle, 27not made by hands, that is, 28not of this creation; 12and not through 29the blood of goats and calves, but 30through His own blood, He 31entered the holy place 32once for all time, 33having obtained 34eternal redemption. 13For if 35the blood of goats and bulls, and 36the 37ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify for the 38cleansing of the flesh, 14how much more will 39the blood of Christ, who through 4041the eternal Spirit 42offered Himself without blemish to God, 43cleanse your conscience from 44dead works to serve 45the living God?
15For this reason 46He is the 47mediator of a 48new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the violations that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been 49called may 50receive the promise of 51the eternal inheritance. 16For where there is a 52covenant, there must of necessity 53be the death of the one who made it. 17For a 54covenant is valid only when people are dead, 55for it is never in force while the one who made it lives. 18Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood. 19For when every commandment had been 56spoken by Moses to all the people according to the Law, 57he took the 58blood of the calves and the goats, with 59water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both 60the book itself and all the people, 20saying, “61This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded you.” 21And in the same way he 62sprinkled both the 63tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry with the blood. 22And 64almost all things are cleansed with blood, according to the Law, and 65without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
23Therefore it was necessary for the 66copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these things, but 67the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24For Christ 68did not enter a holy place made by hands, a mere copy of 69the true one, but into 70heaven itself, now 71to appear in the presence of God for us; 25nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as 72the high priest enters 73the Holy Place 74year by year with blood that is not his own. 26Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since 75the foundation of the world; but now 76once at 77the consummation of the ages He has been 78revealed to put away sin 7980by the sacrifice of Himself. 27And just as 81it is destined for people to die once, and after this 82comes judgment, 28so Christ also, having been 83offered once to 84bear the sins of many, will appear 85a second time for 86salvation 87without reference to sin, to those who 88eagerly await Him.
