Hebrews 10
One Sacrifice of Christ Is Sufficient
1For the Law, since it has only 1a shadow of 2the good things to come and not the 3form of those things itself, 4can 5never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually every year, 6make those who approach perfect. 2Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had 7consciousness of sins? 3But 8in 9those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4For it is 10impossible for the 11blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. 5Therefore, 12when He comes into the world, He says, “13You have not desired sacrifice and offering, But 14You have prepared a body for Me;615You have not taken pleasure in whole burnt offerings and offerings for sin.716Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come (It is written of Me in 17the scroll of the book) To do Your will, O God.’” 8After saying above, “18Sacrifices and offerings and 19whole burnt offerings and offerings 20for sin You have not desired, nor have You taken pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the Law), 9then He 21said, “22Behold, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first in order to establish the second. 10By 23this will, we have been 24sanctified through 25the offering of 26the body of Jesus Christ 27once for all time.
11Every priest stands daily ministering and 28offering time after time the same sacrifices, which 29can never take away sins; 12but He, having offered one sacrifice 30for 31sins 32for all time, 33sat down at the right hand of God, 13waiting from that time onward 34until His enemies are made a footstool for His feet. 14For by one offering He has 35perfected 36for all time those who are 37sanctified. 15And 38the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying,16“39This is the covenant which I will make with them After those days, declares the Lord: I will put My laws upon their hearts, And write them on their mind,” He then says,17“40And their sins and their lawless deeds I will no longer remember.” 18Now where there is forgiveness of these things, an offering for sin is no longer required.
A New and Living Way
19Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we 41have confidence to 42enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, 20by 43a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through 44the veil, that is, through His flesh, 21and since we have 45a great priest 46over the house of God, 22let’s 47approach God with a 48sincere heart in 49full assurance of faith, having our hearts 50sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies 51washed with pure water. 23Let’s hold firmly to the 52confession of our 53hope without wavering, for 54He who promised is faithful; 24and let’s consider how 55to 56encourage one another in love and 57good deeds, 25not abandoning our own 58meeting together, as is the habit of some people, but 59encouraging one another; and all the more as you see 60the day drawing near.
Christ or Judgment
26For if we go on 61sinning willfully after receiving 62the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27but a terrifying expectation of 63judgment and 64the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries. 2865Anyone who has ignored the Law of Moses is put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 2966How much more severe punishment do you think he will deserve 67who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean 68the blood of the covenant 69by which he was sanctified, and has 70insulted the Spirit of grace? 30For we know Him who said, “71Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.” And again, “72The Lord will judge His people.” 31It is a 73terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the 74living God.
32But remember 75the former days, 76when, after being 77enlightened, you endured a great 78conflict of sufferings, 33partly by being 79made a public spectacle through insults and distress, and partly by becoming 8081companions with those who were so treated. 34For you 82showed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted 83joyfully the seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves 84a better and lasting possession. 35Therefore, do not throw away your 85confidence, which has a great 86reward. 36For you have need of 87endurance, so that when you have 88done the will of God, you may 89receive 90what was promised.3791For yet in a very little while, 92He who is coming will come, and will not delay.3893But My righteous one will live by faith; And if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him. 39But 94we are not among those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith for the safekeeping of the soul.
