Hebrews 9:3-14
3Behind 1the second veil there was a 2tabernacle which is called the 3Most Holy Place, 4having a golden 45altar of incense and 6the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was 7a golden jar holding the manna, 8Aaron’s staff which budded, and 9the tablets of the covenant; 5and above it were the 10cherubim of glory 11overshadowing the 12atoning cover; but about these things we cannot now speak in detail.
6Now when these things have been so prepared, the priests 13are continually entering the 14outer 15tabernacle, performing the divine worship, 7but into 16the second, only 17the high priest enters 18once a year, 19not without taking blood which he 20offers for himself and for the 2122sins of the people committed in ignorance. 823The Holy Spirit is signifying this, 24that the way into the holy place has not yet been disclosed while the 25outer tabernacle is still standing, 9which is a symbol for the present time. Accordingly 26both gifts and sacrifices are offered which 27cannot make the worshiper perfect in conscience, 10since they relate only to 28food, 29drink, and various 30washings, 31regulations for the 32body imposed until 33a time of reformation.
11But when Christ appeared as a 34high priest of the 35good things 36having come, He entered through 37the greater and more perfect 38tabernacle, 39not made by hands, that is, 40not of this creation; 12and not through 41the blood of goats and calves, but 42through His own blood, He 43entered the holy place 44once for all time, 45having obtained 46eternal redemption. 13For if 47the blood of goats and bulls, and 48the 49ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify for the 50cleansing of the flesh, 14how much more will 51the blood of Christ, who through 5253the eternal Spirit 54offered Himself without blemish to God, 55cleanse your conscience from 56dead works to serve 57the living God?
