Hebrews 9:3-14
3Behind 1the second veil there was a 2tabernacle which is called the 3Holy of Holies, 4having a golden 45altar of incense and 6the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was 7a golden jar holding the manna, and 8Aaron’s rod which budded, and 9the tables of the covenant; 5and above it were the 10cherubim of glory 11overshadowing the mercy seat; but of these things we cannot now speak in detail.
6Now when these things have been so prepared, the priests 12are continually entering the 13outer 14tabernacle performing the divine worship, 7but into 15the second, only 16the high priest enters 17once a year, 18not without taking blood, which he 19offers for himself and for the 2021sins of the people committed in ignorance. 822The Holy Spirit is signifying this, 23that the way into the holy place has not yet been disclosed while the 24outer tabernacle is still standing, 9which is a symbol for the present time. Accordingly 25both gifts and sacrifices are offered which 26cannot make the worshiper perfect in conscience, 10since they relate only to 27food and 28drink and various 29washings, 30regulations for the 31body imposed until 32a time of reformation.
11But when Christ appeared as a 33high priest of the 34good things 35to come, He entered through 36the greater and more perfect 37tabernacle, 38not made with hands, that is to say, 39not of this creation; 12and not through 40the blood of goats and calves, but 41through His own blood, He 42entered the holy place 43once for all, 44having obtained 45eternal redemption. 13For if 46the blood of goats and bulls and 47the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the 48cleansing of the flesh, 14how much more will 49the blood of Christ, who through 5051the eternal Spirit 52offered Himself without blemish to God, 53cleanse 54your conscience from 55dead works to serve 56the living God?
