Hebrews 12:18-29

181For you have not come to 2a mountain that can be touched and to a blazing fire, and to darkness and gloom and whirlwind, 19and to the 3blast of a trumpet and the 4sound of words, which sound was such that those who heard 5begged that no further word be spoken to them. 20For they could not 6cope with the command, “7If even an animal touches the mountain, it shall be stoned.” 21And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, “8I am terrified and trembling.” 22But 9you have come to Mount Zion and to 10the city of 11the living God, 12the heavenly Jerusalem, and to 13myriads of 14angels, 23to the general assembly and 15church of the firstborn who 16are enrolled in heaven, and to God, 17the Judge of all, and to the 18spirits of the righteous made perfect, 24and to Jesus, the 19mediator of a new covenant, and to the 20sprinkled blood, which speaks better than 21the blood of Abel.

2522See to it that you do not refuse Him who is 23speaking. For 24if those did not escape when they 25refused him who 26warned them on earth, 27much less will we escape who turn away from Him who 28warns us from heaven. 26And 29His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, “30Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.” 27This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes 31the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28Therefore, since we receive a 32kingdom which cannot be shaken, let’s 33show gratitude, by which we may 34offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; 29for 35our God is a consuming fire.
