Genesis 1:3-16
3Then 1God said, “2Let there be light”; and there was light. 4God saw that the light was 3good; and God 4separated the light from the darkness. 55God called the light “day,” and the darkness He called “night.” And 6there was evening and there was morning, one day.
6Then God said, “Let there be 7an 8expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” 7God made the 9expanse, and separated 10the waters that were below the 11expanse from the waters 12that were above the 13expanse; and it was so. 8God called the 14expanse “heaven.” And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.
9Then God said, “15Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let 16the dry land appear”; and it was so. 10And God called the dry land “earth,” and the 17gathering of the waters He called “seas”; and God saw that it was good. 11Then God said, “Let the earth sprout 1819vegetation, 20plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit according to 21their kind 22with seed in them”; and it was so. 12The earth produced 23vegetation, 24plants yielding seed according to 25their kind, and trees bearing fruit 26with seed in them, according to 27their kind; and God saw that it was good. 13And there was evening and there was morning, a third day.
14Then God said, “Let there be 2829lights in the 3031expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and they shall 32serve as 33signs and for 34seasons, and for days and years; 15and they 35shall serve as lights in the 36expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16God made the two great lights, the 37greater light 38to govern the day, and the lesser light 39to govern the night; He made 40the stars also.
