Genesis 1:3-16
3Then 1God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4God saw that the light was 2good; and God 3separated the light from the darkness. 54God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And 5there was evening and there was morning, one day.
6Then God said, “Let there be 6an 7expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” 7God made the 8expanse, and separated 9the waters which were below the 10expanse from the waters 11which were above the 12expanse; and it was so. 8God called the 13expanse heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.
9Then God said, “14Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let 15the dry land appear”; and it was so. 10God called the dry land earth, and the 16gathering of the waters He called seas; and God saw that it was good. 11Then God said, “Let the earth sprout 1718vegetation, 19plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after 20their kind 21with seed in them”; and it was so. 12The earth brought forth 22vegetation, 23plants yielding seed after 24their kind, and trees bearing fruit 25with seed in them, after 26their kind; and God saw that it was good. 13There was evening and there was morning, a third day.
14Then God said, “Let there be 2728lights in the 2930expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for 31signs and for 32seasons and for days and years; 15and let them be for 33lights in the 34expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16God made the two 35great lights, the 36greater 37light 38to govern the day, and the lesser 39light 40to govern the night; He made 41the stars also.
