2 Timothy 2
Be Strong
1You therefore, my 12son, 3be strong in the grace that is in 4Christ Jesus. 2The things 5which you have heard from me in the presence of 6many witnesses, 7entrust these to 8faithful 9people who will be 10able to teach others also. 311Suffer hardship with me, as a good 12soldier of 13Christ Jesus. 4No soldier in active service 14entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him. 5And if someone likewise 15competes as an athlete, he is not 16crowned as victor unless he competes according to the rules. 617The hard-working farmer ought to be the first to receive his share of the crops. 7Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.
8Remember Jesus Christ, 18risen from the dead, 19descendant of David, 20according to my gospel, 921for which I 22suffer hardship even to 23imprisonment as a 24criminal; but 25the word of God 26is not imprisoned. 10For this reason 27I endure all things for 28the sake of 29those who are chosen, 30so that they also may obtain the 31salvation which is in 32Christ Jesus and with it 33eternal glory. 1134The statement is trustworthy: For 35if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;12If we endure, 36we will also reign with Him; If we 3738deny Him, He will also deny us;13If we are faithless, 39He remains faithful, for 40He cannot deny Himself.
An Unashamed Worker
14Remind them of these things, and solemnly 41exhort them in the presence of God not to 42dispute about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the listeners. 15Be diligent to 43present yourself approved to God as a worker who 44does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling 45the word of truth. 16But 46avoid 47worldly and empty chatter, for 48it will lead to further ungodliness, 17and their 49talk will spread like 50gangrene. Among them are 51Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18men who have gone astray from the truth, claiming that 52the resurrection has already taken place; and they are jeopardizing 53the faith of some. 19Nevertheless, the 54firm foundation of God stands, having this 55seal: “56The Lord knows those who are His;” and, “57Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to keep away from wickedness.”
20Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver implements, but also implements of wood and of earthenware, and 58some are for honor while others are for dishonor. 21Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from 59these things, he will be an implement for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, 60prepared for every good work. 22Now 61flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, 62faith, love, and peace with those who 63call on the Lord 64from a pure heart. 23But refuse foolish and ignorant 65speculations, knowing that they 66produce 67quarrels. 2468The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, 69skillful in teaching, patient when wronged, 2570with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, 71if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to 72the knowledge of the truth, 26and they may come to their senses and escape from 73the snare of the devil, having been 74held captive 75by him to do his will.
