2 Timothy 4
Preach the Word
11I solemnly exhort you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to 2judge the living and the dead, and by His 3appearing and His kingdom: 2preach 4the word; be ready 5in season and out of season; 6correct, rebuke, and 7exhort, with 8great 9patience and instruction. 3For 10the time will come when they will not tolerate 11sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires, 4and they 12will turn their ears away from the truth and 13will turn aside to myths. 5But as for you, 14use self-restraint in all things, 15endure hardship, do the work of an 16evangelist, fulfill your 17ministry.
6For I am already being 18poured out as a drink offering, and the time of 19my departure has come. 720I have fought the good fight, I have finished 21the course, I have kept 22the faith; 8in the future there 23is reserved for me 24the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on 25that day; and not only to me, but also to 26all who have loved His 27appearing.
Personal Concerns
928Make every effort to come to me soon; 10for 29Demas, having loved 30this present 31world, has deserted me and gone to 32Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to 3334Galatia, 35Titus to Dalmatia. 1136Only 37Luke is with me. Take along 38Mark and bring him with you, 39for he is useful to me for service. 12But I have sent 40Tychicus to 41Ephesus. 13When you come, bring the overcoat which I left at 42Troas with Carpus, and the books, especially the parchments. 1443Alexander the coppersmith did me great harm; 44the Lord will repay him according to his deeds. 15Be on guard against him yourself too, for he vigorously opposed our 45teaching.
16At my first defense no one supported me, but all deserted me; 46may it not be counted against them. 17But the Lord stood with me and 47strengthened me, so that through me 48the proclamation might 49be 50fully accomplished, and that all 51the Gentiles might hear; and I was 52rescued out of 53the lion’s mouth. 18The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will 5455bring me safely to His 56heavenly kingdom; 57to 58Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
19Greet Prisca and 59Aquila, and 60the household of Onesiphorus. 2061Erastus remained at 62Corinth, but I left 63Trophimus sick at 64Miletus. 2165Make every effort to come before 66winter. Eubulus greets you, also Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brothers and sisters.
