1 John 4:4-21

4You are from God, 1little children, and 2have overcome them; because 3greater is He who is in you than 4he who is in the world. 55They are from the world, therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them. 66We are from God. 7The one who knows God listens to us; 8the one who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know 9the spirit of truth and 10the spirit of error.

711Beloved, let’s 12love one another; for love is from God, and 13everyone who loves has been 14born of God and 15knows God. 8The one who does not love does not know God, because 16God is love. 9By this the love of God was revealed 1718in us, that 19God has sent His only Son into the world so that we may live through Him. 10In this is love, 20not that we loved God, but that 21He loved us and sent His Son to be 22the 23propitiation for our sins. 1124Beloved, if God so loved us, 25we also ought to love one another. 1226No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God remains in us, and His 27love is perfected in us. 1328By this we know that we remain in Him and He in us, because He has given to us of His Spirit. 14We have seen and 29testify that the Father has 30sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

1531Whoever confesses that 32Jesus is the Son of God, God 33remains in him, and he in God. 1634We have come to know and have believed the love which God has 3536for us. 37God is love, and the one who 38remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. 17By this, 39love is perfected with us, so that we may have 40confidence in 41the day of judgment; because 42as He is, we also are in this world. 18There is no fear in love, but 43perfect love drives out fear, because fear 44involves punishment, and the one who fears is not 45perfected in love. 1946We love, because He first loved us. 2047If someone says, “I love God,” and yet he 48hates his brother or sister, he is a 49liar; for 50the one who does not love his brother and sister whom he has seen, 51cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21And 52this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God 53must also love his brother and sister.
