1 John 4:4-21

4You are from God, 1little children, and 2have overcome them; because 3greater is He who is in you than 4he who is in the world. 55They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them. 66We are from God; 7he who knows God listens to us; 8he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know 9the spirit of truth and 10the spirit of error.

711Beloved, let us 12love one another, for love is from God; and 13everyone who loves is 1415born of God and 16knows God. 8The one who does not love does not know God, for 17God is love. 9By this the love of God was manifested 1819in us, that 20God has sent His 21only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. 10In this is love, 22not that we loved God, but that 23He loved us and sent His Son to be 24the propitiation for our sins. 1125Beloved, if God so loved us, 26we also ought to love one another. 1227No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His 28love is perfected in us. 1329By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 14We have seen and 30testify that the Father has 31sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

1532Whoever confesses that 33Jesus is the Son of God, God 34abides in him, and he in God. 1635We have come to know and have believed the love which God has 3637for us. 38God is love, and the one who 39abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17By this, 40love is perfected with us, so that we may have 41confidence in 42the day of judgment; because 43as He is, so also are we in this world. 18There is no fear in love; but 44perfect love casts out fear, because fear 45involves punishment, and the one who fears is not 46perfected in love. 1947We love, because He first loved us. 2048If someone says, “I love God,” and 49hates his brother, he is a 50liar; for 51the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, 52cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21And 53this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God 54should love his brother also.
