1 John 4:15-21

15 1Whoever confesses that 2Jesus is the Son of God, God 3remains in him, and he in God.

16 4We have come to know and have believed the love which God has 5 6for us. 7God is love, and the one who 8remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.

17By this, 9love is perfected with us, so that we may have 10confidence in 11the day of judgment; because 12as He is, we also are in this world.

18There is no fear in love, but 13perfect love drives out fear, because fear 14involves punishment, and the one who fears is not 15perfected in love.

19 16We love, because He first loved us.

20 17If someone says, “I love God,” and yet he 18hates his brother or sister, he is a 19liar; for 20the one who does not love his brother and sister whom he has seen, 21cannot love God, whom he has not seen.

21And 22this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God 23must also love his brother and sister.
