Daniel 2:4-49
4Then the ChaldeansH3778 spokeH1696 to the kingH4428 in 12AramaicH762: “3O kingH4430, liveH2418 foreverH5957! 4TellH560 the dreamH2493 to your servantsH5649, and we will declareH2331 the interpretationH6591.” 5The kingH4430 repliedH6032 to the ChaldeansH3779, “5The commandH4406 from me is firmH230: ifH2006 you do not makeH3046 knownH3046 to me the dreamH2493 and its interpretationH6591, you will be 67tornH5648 limbH1917 from limb and your housesH1005 will be madeH7761 a rubbishH5122 heapH5122. 6But ifH2006 you declareH2331 the dreamH2493 and its interpretationH6591, you will receiveH6902 from me 8giftsH4978 and a rewardH5023 and greatH7690 honorH3367; thereforeH3861 declareH2331 to me the dreamH2493 and its interpretationH6591.” 7They answeredH6032 a secondH8579 timeH8579 and saidH560, “Let the kingH4430 9tellH560 the dreamH2493 to his servantsH5649, and we will declareH2331 the interpretationH6591.” 8The kingH4430 repliedH6032, “I knowH3046 for certainH3330 that you are 10bargainingH2084 for timeH5732, inasmuchH3606H6903H1768 as you have seenH2370 that 11the commandH4406 from me is firmH230, 9that ifH2006 you do not makeH3046 the dreamH2493 knownH3046 to me, there is only 12oneH2298 13decreeH1882 for you. For you have agreedH2164 togetherH2164 to speakH560 lyingH3538 and corruptH7844 14wordsH4406 beforeH6925 me untilH5705H1768 the 15situationH5732 is changedH8133; thereforeH3861 tellH560 me the dreamH2493, that I may 16knowH3046 that you can declareH2331 to me its interpretationH6591.” 10The ChaldeansH3779 answeredH6032 17the kingH4430 and saidH560, “ThereH383 is not a manH606 on earthH3007 whoH1768 couldH3202 declareH2331 the matterH4406 18for the kingH4430, inasmuchH3606H6903H1768 as noH3606H3809 greatH7229 kingH4430 or rulerH7990 has ever askedH7593 anythingH4406 like thisH1836 of anyH3606 1920magicianH2749, conjurerH826 or ChaldeanH3779. 11Moreover, the thingH4406 whichH1768 the kingH4430 demandsH7593 is 21difficultH3358, and thereH383 is noH3809 oneH321 elseH321 whoH1768 could declareH2331 it 22to the kingH4430 exceptH3861 23godsH426, whoseH1768 24dwellingH4070 placeH4094 is not with mortal fleshH1321.”
12BecauseH3606H6903 of thisH1836 the kingH4430 becameH1149 25indignantH1149 and veryH7690 furiousH7108 and gaveH560 ordersH560 to destroyH7 allH3606 the wiseH2445 menH2445 of BabylonH895. 13So the 26decreeH1882 wentH5312 forthH5312 that the wiseH2445 menH2445 should be slainH6992; and they lookedH1156 for 27DanielH1841 and his friendsH2269 to 28killH6992 them.
14ThenH116 DanielH1841 repliedH8421 with discretionH5843 and discernmentH2942 to 29AriochH746, the captainH7229 of the king’sH4430 30bodyguardH2877, whoH1768 had goneH5312 forthH5312 to slayH6992 the wiseH2445 menH2445 of BabylonH895; 15he saidH560 to AriochH746, the king’sH4430 commanderH7990, “For whatH4101 reasonH5922H4101 is the 31decreeH1882 from the kingH4430 so 32urgentH2685?” ThenH116 AriochH746 informedH3046 DanielH1841 about the matterH4406. 16So DanielH1841 wentH5954 in and requestedH1156 of the kingH4430 that he would 33giveH5415 him timeH2166, in order that he might declareH2331 the interpretationH6591 to the kingH4430.
17ThenH116 DanielH1841 wentH236 to his houseH1005 and informedH3046 his friendsH2269, 34HananiahH2608, MishaelH4331 and AzariahH5839, about the matterH4406, 18so that they might 35requestH1156 compassionH7359 from the GodH426 of heavenH8065 concerningH5922 thisH1836 mysteryH7328, soH1768 that DanielH1841 and his friendsH2269 would not be 36destroyedH7 with the restH7606 of the wiseH2445 menH2445 of BabylonH895. 19ThenH116 the mysteryH7328 was revealedH1541 to DanielH1841 in a nightH3916 37visionH2376. ThenH116 DanielH1841 blessedH1289 the GodH426 of heavenH8065; 20DanielH1841 saidH560, “Let the nameH8036 of GodH426 be 38blessedH1289 foreverH5957 and everH5957, For 39wisdomH2452 and powerH1370 belong to Him.21It is He who 40changesH8133 the timesH5732 and the epochsH2166; He 41removesH5709 kingsH4430 and 42establishesH6966 kingsH4430; He givesH3052 43wisdomH2452 to wiseH2445 menH2445 And knowledgeH4486 to 44men of understandingH999.22It is He who 45revealsH1541 the profoundH5994 and hiddenH5642 thingsH5642; 46He knowsH3046 whatH4101 is in the darknessH2816, And the 47lightH5094 dwellsH8271 with Him.23To You, O 48GodH426 of my fathersH2, I giveH3029 thanksH3029 and praiseH7624, For You have givenH3052 me 49wisdomH2452 and powerH1370; Even nowH3705 You have madeH3046 knownH3046 to me whatH1768 we 50requestedH1156 of You, For You have madeH3046 knownH3046 to us the king’sH4430 matterH4406.”
24ThereforeH3606H6903H1836, DanielH1841 wentH5954 in to AriochH746, whomH1768 the kingH4430 had appointedH4483 to destroyH7 the wiseH2445 menH2445 of BabylonH895; he wentH236 and spokeH560 to him as followsH3652: “51Do not destroyH7 the wiseH2445 menH2445 of BabylonH895! TakeH5954 me 52into the king’sH4430 presenceH6925, and I will declareH2331 the interpretationH6591 to the kingH4430.”
25ThenH116 AriochH746 hurriedlyH927 53broughtH5954 DanielH1841 54into the king’sH4430 presenceH6925 and spokeH560 to him as followsH3652: “I have foundH7912 a manH1400 amongH4481H1123 the 5556exilesH1123H1547 from JudahH3061 whoH1768 can makeH3046 the interpretationH6591 knownH3046 to the kingH4430!” 26The kingH4430 saidH560 to DanielH1841, whoseH1768 nameH8036 was 57BelteshazzarH1096, “Are you ableH3546 to makeH3046 knownH3046 to me the dreamH2493 whichH1768 I have seenH2370 and its interpretationH6591?” 27DanielH1841 answeredH6032 beforeH6925 the kingH4430 and saidH560, “As for the mysteryH7328 about whichH1768 the kingH4430 has inquiredH7593, neitherH3809 58wiseH2445 menH2445, conjurersH826, 59magiciansH2749 nor divinersH1505 are ableH3202 to declareH2331 it to the kingH4430. 28HoweverH1297, thereH383 is a 60GodH426 in heavenH8065 whoH1768 revealsH1541 mysteriesH7328, and He has madeH3046 knownH3046 to KingH4430 NebuchadnezzarH5020 whatH4101 will takeH1934 placeH1934 in the 6162latterH320 daysH3118. ThisH1836 was your dreamH2493 and the 63visionsH2376 64in your mindH7217 while on your bedH4903. 29As for you, O kingH4430, while on your bedH4903 your thoughtsH7476 65turnedH5559 to whatH4101 would takeH1934 placeH1934 66in the futureH311; and 67He who revealsH1541 mysteriesH7328 has madeH3046 knownH3046 to you whatH4101 will takeH1934 placeH1934. 30But as for me, thisH1836 mysteryH7328 hasH383 not been revealedH1541 to me for any 68wisdomH2452 69residingH383 in me moreH4481 thanH4481 in anyH3606 other livingH2417 manH2417, but for the purposeH1701 of makingH3046 the interpretationH6591 knownH3046 to the kingH4430, and that you may 70understandH3046 the 71thoughtsH7476 of your 72mindH3825.
31“You, O kingH4430, were lookingH2370 and beholdH431, there was a singleH2298 greatH7690 statueH6755; that statueH6755, which was largeH7229 and 73of extraordinaryH3493 splendorH2122, was standingH6966 in frontH6903 of you, and its appearanceH7299 was 74awesomeH1763. 32The 75headH7217 of that statueH6755 was made of fineH2869 goldH1722, its breastH2306 and its armsH1872 of silverH3702, its bellyH4577 and its thighsH3410 of bronzeH5174, 33its legsH8243 of ironH6523, its feetH7271 partlyH4481 of ironH6523 and partlyH4481 of clayH2635. 34You 76continuedH1934 lookingH2370 untilH5705H1768 a 77stoneH69 was cutH1505 out 78withoutH3809 handsH3028, and it struckH4223 the statueH6755 on its feetH7271 of ironH6523 and clayH2635 and 79crushedH1855 them. 35ThenH116 the ironH6523, the clayH2635, the bronzeH5174, the silverH3702 and the goldH1722 were crushedH1855 80allH3606 at the sameH2298 timeH2298 and becameH1934 81like chaffH5784 from the summerH7007 threshingH147 floorsH147; and the windH7308 carriedH5376 them away so that 82not a traceH870 of them was foundH7912. But the stoneH69 that struckH4223 the statueH6755 becameH1934 a greatH7229 83mountainH2906 and filledH4391 the wholeH3606 earthH772.
36“ThisH1836 was the dreamH2493; now we will tellH560 84its interpretationH6591 beforeH6925 the kingH4430. 37You, O kingH4430, are the 85kingH4430 of kingsH4430, to whomH1768 the GodH426 of heavenH8065 has givenH3052 the 86kingdomH4437, the 87powerH2632, the strengthH8632 and the gloryH3367; 38and whereverH3606H1768 the sonsH1123 of menH606 dwellH1753, or the 88beastsH2423 of the fieldH1251, or the birdsH5776 of the skyH8065, He has givenH3052 them into your handH3028 and has caused you to ruleH7981 over them allH3606. You are the headH7217 of goldH1722. 39AfterH870 you there will ariseH6966 anotherH321 kingdomH4437 inferiorH772 to you, then anotherH321 thirdH8523 kingdomH4437 of bronzeH5174, whichH1768 will ruleH7981 over allH3606 the earthH772. 40Then there will be a 89fourthH7244 kingdomH4437 as strongH8624 as ironH6523; inasmuchH3606H6903H1768 as ironH6523 crushesH1855 and shattersH2827 allH3606 thingsH3606, so, like ironH6523 that breaksH7490 in piecesH7490, it will crushH1855 and breakH7490 allH3606 theseH459 in piecesH7490. 41In that you sawH2370 the feetH7271 and toesH677, partlyH4481 of potter’sH6353 clayH2635 and partlyH4481 of ironH6523, it will be a dividedH6386 kingdomH4437; but it will haveH1934 in it the toughnessH5326 of ironH6523, inasmuchH3606H6903H1768 as you sawH2370 the ironH6523 mixedH6151 with 90commonH2917 clayH2635. 42As the toesH677 of the feetH7271 were partlyH4481 of ironH6523 and partlyH4481 of potteryH2635, so someH4481H7118 of the kingdomH4437 will be strongH8624 and partH4481 of it will be brittleH8406. 43And in that you sawH2370 the ironH6523 mixedH6151 with 91commonH2917 clayH2635, they will combineH6151 with one another 92in the seedH2234 of menH606; but they will not adhereH1693 to oneH1836H5974 anotherH1836H5974, evenH1888 as ironH6523 does not combineH6151 with potteryH2635. 44In the daysH3118 of thoseH581 kingsH4430 the 93GodH426 of heavenH8065 will 94setH6966 up a 95kingdomH4437 whichH1768 will neverH5957H3809 be destroyedH2255, and that kingdomH4437 will not be 96leftH7662 for anotherH312 peopleH5972; it will 97crushH1855 and putH5487 an endH5487 to allH3606 theseH459 kingdomsH4437, but it will itselfH1932 endureH6966 foreverH5957. 45InasmuchH3606H6903H1768 as you sawH2370 that a 98stoneH69 was cutH1505 out of the mountainH2906 withoutH3809 handsH3028 and that it crushedH1855 the ironH6523, the bronzeH5174, the clayH2635, the silverH3702 and the goldH1722, the 99greatH7229 GodH426 has madeH3046 knownH3046 to the kingH4430 whatH4101 100will takeH1934 placeH1934 101in the futureH311; so the dreamH2493 is trueH3330 and its interpretationH6591 is trustworthyH540.”
46ThenH116 KingH4430 NebuchadnezzarH5020 fellH5308 on his faceH600 and didH5457 102homageH5457 to DanielH1841, and gaveH560 ordersH560 to presentH5260 to him an offeringH4504 and 103104fragrantH5208 incenseH5208. 47The kingH4430 answeredH6032 DanielH1841 and saidH560, “SurelyH4481H7187H1768 105your GodH426 is a 106GodH426 of godsH426 and a LordH4756 of kingsH4430 and a 107revealerH1541 of mysteriesH7328, sinceH1768 you have beenH3202 ableH3202 to revealH1541 thisH1836 mysteryH7328.” 48ThenH116 the kingH4430 108109promotedH7236 DanielH1841 and gaveH3052 him manyH7690 greatH7229 giftsH4978, and he madeH7981 him rulerH7981 overH5922 the wholeH3606 110provinceH4083 of BabylonH895 and chiefH7229 111prefectH5460 overH5922 allH3606 the wiseH2445 menH2445 of BabylonH895. 49And DanielH1841 madeH1156 requestH1156 of the kingH4430, and he 112appointedH4483 113ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336 and Abed-negoH5665 overH5922 the administrationH5673 of the provinceH4083 of BabylonH895, while DanielH1841 was at the king’sH4430 114115courtH8651.
