2 Samuel 5:6-25

61Now the kingH4428 and his menH376 wentH1980 to 2JerusalemH3389 againstH413 the JebusitesH2983, the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776, and they saidH559 to 3DavidH1732, “You shall not comeH935 in hereH2008, but the blindH5787 and lameH6455 will turnH5493 you awayH5493”; 4thinkingH559, “DavidH1732 cannotH3808 enterH935 hereH2008.” 7Nevertheless, DavidH1732 capturedH3920 the strongholdH4686 of ZionH6726, that is 5the cityH5892 of DavidH1732. 8DavidH1732 saidH559 on that dayH3117, “WhoeverH3605 would strikeH5221 the JebusitesH2983, let him reachH5060 the lameH6455 and the blindH5787, who are hatedH8130 by David’sH1732 soulH5315, through the waterH6794 tunnelH6794.” ThereforeH5921H3651 they sayH559, “The blindH5787 or the lameH6455 shall not comeH935 into the houseH1004.” 9So DavidH1732 livedH3427 in the strongholdH4686 and calledH7121 it 6the cityH5892 of DavidH1732. And DavidH1732 builtH1129 allH5439 aroundH5439 from the 78MilloH4407 and inwardH1004. 109DavidH1732 becameH1980 greaterH1980 and greaterH1419, for the LordH3068 GodH430 of hostsH6635 was with him.

1110Then HiramH2438 kingH4428 of TyreH6865 sentH7971 messengersH4397 to DavidH1732 with cedarH730 treesH6086 and carpentersH2796H6086 and stonemasonsH2796H68; and 11they builtH1129 a houseH1004 for DavidH1732. 12And DavidH1732 realizedH3045 that the LordH3068 had establishedH3559 him as kingH4428 overH5921 IsraelH3478, and that He had exaltedH5375 his kingdomH4467 for the sakeH5668 of His peopleH5971 IsraelH3478.

13Meanwhile 12DavidH1732 tookH3947 moreH5750 concubinesH6370 and wivesH802 from JerusalemH3389, afterH310 he cameH935 from HebronH2275; and moreH5750 sonsH1121 and daughtersH1323 were bornH3205 to DavidH1732. 14Now 13theseH428 are the namesH8034 of those whoH3209 were bornH3209 to him in JerusalemH3389: ShammuaH8051, ShobabH7727, NathanH5416, SolomonH8010, 15IbharH2984, ElishuaH474, NephegH5298, JaphiaH3309, 16ElishamaH476, EliadaH450 and ElipheletH467.

17When the PhilistinesH6430 heardH8085 that they had anointedH4886 DavidH1732 kingH4428 overH5921 IsraelH3478, 14allH3605 the PhilistinesH6430 wentH5927 up to seekH1245 out DavidH1732; and when DavidH1732 heardH8085 of it, he wentH3381 downH3381 to the 15strongholdH4686. 18Now the PhilistinesH6430 cameH935 and spreadH5203 themselves out in 16the valleyH6010 of RephaimH7497. 19Then 17DavidH1732 inquiredH7592 of the LordH3068, sayingH559, “Shall I goH5927 up againstH413 the PhilistinesH6430? Will You giveH5414 them into my handH3027?” And 18the LordH3068 saidH559 to DavidH1732, “GoH5927 up, for I will certainlyH5414 giveH5414 the PhilistinesH6430 into your handH3027.” 20So DavidH1732 cameH935 to 19Baal-perazimH1188 and 20defeatedH5221 them thereH8033; and he saidH559, “The LordH3068 has brokenH6555 throughH6555 my enemiesH340 beforeH6440 me like the breakthroughH6556 of watersH4325.” ThereforeH5921H3651 he namedH7121H8034 that placeH4725 21Baal-perazimH1188. 21They abandonedH5800 their idolsH6091 thereH8033, so 22DavidH1732 and his menH376 carriedH5375 them away.

22Now 23the PhilistinesH6430 cameH5927 up onceH3254H5750 againH3254 and spreadH5203 themselves out in the valleyH6010 of RephaimH7497. 23When 24DavidH1732 inquiredH7592 of the LordH3068, He saidH559, “You shall not goH5927 directly up; circleH5437 aroundH5437 behindH310 them and comeH935 at them in frontH4136 of the 25balsamH1057 treesH1057. 24It shall be, when 26you hearH8085 the soundH6963 of marchingH6807 in the topsH7218 of the 27balsamH1057 treesH1057, thenH227 you shall actH2782 promptlyH2782, for thenH227 28the LordH3068 will have goneH3318 out beforeH6440 you to strikeH5221 the armyH4264 of the PhilistinesH6430.” 25Then DavidH1732 didH6213 soH3651, justH3512 as the LordH3068 had commandedH6680 him, and struckH5221 downH5221 the PhilistinesH6430 from 2930GebaH1387 31as farH5704 as 32GezerH1507.
