2 Chronicles 32:9-31

9AfterH310 thisH2088 1SennacheribH5576 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 sentH7971 his servantsH5650 to JerusalemH3389 while he was 2besiegingH5921 LachishH3923 with allH3605 his forcesH4475 with him, againstH5921 HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 and againstH5921 allH3605 JudahH3063 whoH834 were at JerusalemH3389, sayingH559, 10“ThusH3541 saysH559 SennacheribH5576 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, ‘On whatH4100 are you trustingH982 that you are remainingH3427 in JerusalemH3389 under siegeH4692? 11Is not HezekiahH2396 misleadingH5496 you to giveH5414 yourselves over to dieH4191 by hungerH7458 and by thirstH6772, sayingH559, “The LordH3068 our GodH430 will deliverH5337 us from the 3handH3709 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804”? 124Has not the sameH1931 HezekiahH2396 takenH5493 awayH5493 His highH1116 placesH1116 and His altarsH4196, and saidH559 to JudahH3063 and 5JerusalemH3389, “You shall worshipH7812 beforeH6440 oneH259 altarH4196, and on it you shall 6burnH6999 incenseH6999”? 13Do you not knowH3045 whatH4100 I and my fathersH1 have doneH6213 to allH3605 the peoplesH5971 of the landsH776? 7Were the godsH430 of the nationsH1471 of the landsH776 ableH3201 at allH3201 to deliverH5337 their landH776 from my handH3027? 148WhoH4310 was there among allH3605 the godsH430 of thoseH428 nationsH1471 whichH834 my fathersH1 utterlyH2763 destroyedH2763 whoH834 couldH3201 deliverH5337 his peopleH5971 out of my handH3027, that your GodH430 should be ableH3201 to deliverH5337 you from my handH3027? 15NowH6258 therefore, do not let HezekiahH2396 deceiveH5378 you or misleadH5496 you like thisH2088, and do not believeH539 him, for 9noH3808H3605 godH433 of anyH3605 nationH1471 or kingdomH4467 was ableH3201 to deliverH5337 his peopleH5971 from my handH3027 or from the handH3027 of my fathersH1. HowH637 muchH637H3588 lessH637 will your GodH430 deliverH5337 you from my handH3027?’”

16His servantsH5650 spokeH1696 furtherH5750 againstH5921 the LordH3068 GodH430 and againstH5921 His servantH5650 HezekiahH2396. 17He also wroteH3789 lettersH5612 to insultH2778 the LordH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478, and to speakH559 againstH5921 Him, sayingH559, “10As the godsH430 of the nationsH1471 of the landsH776 11have not deliveredH5337 their peopleH5971 from my handH3027, soH3651 the GodH430 of HezekiahH2396 will not deliverH5337 His peopleH5971 from my handH3027.” 1812They calledH7121 this out with a loudH1419 voiceH6963 in the languageH3066 of JudahH3066 to the peopleH5971 of JerusalemH3389 whoH834 were on the wallH2346, to frightenH3372 and terrifyH926 them, soH4616 that they might takeH3920 the cityH5892. 19They spokeH1696 13of the GodH430 of JerusalemH3389 as of 14the godsH430 of the peoplesH5971 of the earthH776, the workH4639 of men’sH120 handsH3027.

20But KingH4428 HezekiahH2396 and IsaiahH3470 the prophetH5030, the sonH1121 of AmozH531, prayedH6419 aboutH5921 thisH2088 and criedH2199 out to heavenH8064. 21And the LordH3068 sentH7971 an angelH4397 who destroyedH3582 everyH3605 mightyH1368 warriorH1368, commanderH5057 and officerH8269 in the campH4264 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804. So he returnedH7725 15in shameH1322H6440 to his own landH776. And when he had enteredH935 the templeH1004 of his godH430, someH4480 of his ownH4578 childrenH3329H4578 killedH5307 him thereH8033 with the swordH2719. 22So the LordH3068 16savedH3467 HezekiahH2396 and the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389 from the handH3027 of SennacheribH5576 the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 and from the handH3027 of allH3605 others, and 17guidedH5095 them on everyH5439 sideH5439. 23And 18manyH7227 were bringingH935 giftsH4503 to the LordH3068 at JerusalemH3389 and choiceH4030 presentsH4030 to HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, so that 19he was exaltedH5375 in the sightH5869 of allH3605 nationsH1471 thereafterH4480H310H3651.

2420In thoseH1992 daysH3117 HezekiahH2396 becameH2470 21mortallyH4191 illH2470; and he prayedH6419 to the LordH3068, and 22the Lord spokeH559 to him and gaveH5414 him a signH4159. 25But HezekiahH2396 gaveH7725 noH3808 returnH7725 for the benefitH1576 23he receivedH5921, 24becauseH3588 his heartH3820 was 25proudH1361; 26therefore wrathH7110 cameH1961 on him and on JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389. 26However, 27HezekiahH2396 28humbledH3665 the prideH1363 of his heartH3820, both he and the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389, so that the wrathH7110 of the LordH3068 did not comeH935 on them in the daysH3117 of HezekiahH2396.

27Now HezekiahH2396 hadH1961 immenseH3966 richesH6239 and honorH3519; and he madeH6213 for himself treasuriesH214 for silverH3701, goldH2091, preciousH3368 stonesH68, spicesH1314, shieldsH4043 and allH3605 kinds of valuableH2532 articlesH3627, 28storehousesH4543 also for the produceH8393 of grainH1715, wineH8492 and oilH3323, pensH723 for allH3605 kindsH929 of cattleH929 and 29sheepfoldsH723 for the flocksH5739. 29He madeH6213 citiesH5892 for himself and acquiredH4735 flocksH6629 and herdsH1241 in abundanceH7230, for 30GodH430 had givenH5414 him veryH3966 greatH7227 31wealthH7399. 30It was HezekiahH2396 who 32stoppedH5640 the upperH5945 outletH4161 of the watersH4325 of 33GihonH1521 and directedH3474 them to the westH4628 sideH4628 of the cityH5892 of DavidH1732. And HezekiahH2396 prosperedH6743 in allH3605 that he didH4639. 31EvenH3651 in the matter of 34the envoysH3917 of the rulersH8269 of BabylonH894, who sentH7971 to him to inquireH1875 of 35the wonderH4159 that had happenedH1961 in the landH776, GodH430 leftH5800 him alone only 36to testH5254 him, that He might knowH3045 allH3605 that was in his heartH3824.
