3For when the foolishμωραὶmōraiG3474tookλαβοῦσαιlabousaiG2983their lampsλαμπάδαςlampadasG2985,they tookἔλαβονelabonG2983noοὐκoukG3756oilἔλαιον,elaionG1637with them,

4but theprudentφρόνιμοιphronimoiG5429tookἔλαβονelabonG2983oilἔλαιονelaionG1637in flasksἀγγείοιςangeioisG30along with their lampsλαμπάδωνlampadōnG2985.

5NowδὲdeG1161while the bridegroomνυμφίουnumphiouG3566was delayingχρονίζοντοςchronizontosG5549,they allπᾶσαιpasaiG3956gotG3573drowsyG3573and beganto sleepἐκάθευδον.¶ekatheudonG2518.

6But at midnightΜέσης νυκτὸςMesēs nuktosG3319 G3571there was a shoutκραυγὴkraugēG2906, ‘BeholdἰδοὺidouG2400,the bridegroomνυμφίοςnumphiosG3566!ComeἐξέρχεσθεexerchestheG1831out to meetἀπάντησινapantēsinG529him.’

7ThenτότεtoteG5119allπᾶσαιpasaiG3956thoseἐκεῖναιekeinaiG1565virginsπαρθένοιparthenoiG3933roseἠγέρθησανēgerthēsanG1453and trimmedἐκόσμησανekosmēsanG2885their lampsλαμπάδαςlampadasG2985.

8The foolishμωραὶmōraiG3474saidG3004to the prudentφρονίμοιςphronimoisG5429, ‘GiveδότεdoteG1325us someἐκekG1537of your oilἐλαίουelaiouG1637,for our lampsλαμπάδεςlampadesG2985are goingσβέννυνται.¶sbennuntaiG4570out.’

9But theprudentφρόνιμοιphronimoiG5429answeredἀπεκρίθησανapekrithēsanG611, ‘NoG3379,there will not be enoughἀρκέσῃarkesēG714for us and you too;goπορεύεσθεporeuestheG4198insteadμᾶλλονmallonG3123to the dealersπωλοῦνταςpōlountasG4453and buyἀγοράσατεagorasateG59somefor yourselvesἑαυταῖς.he'autaisG1438.’

10And while they were goingG565awayἀπερχομένωνaperchomenōnG565to makeG59the purchaseG59,the bridegroomνυμφίος,numphiosG3566cameἦλθενēlthenG2064,and thoseG3588who werereadyἕτοιμοιhetoimoiG2092wentεἰσῆλθονeisēlthonG1525in with him tothe weddingγάμους,gamousG1062feastG1062; andthe doorθύρα.thuraG2374was shutἐκλείσθηekleisthēG2808.

11LaterG5305the otherλοιπαὶloipaiG3062virginsπαρθένοιparthenoiG3933alsoκαὶkaiG2532cameἔρχονταιerchontaiG2064,sayingλέγουσαι·legousaiG3004, ‘LordκύριεkurieG2962,lordκύριε,kurieG2962,openἄνοιξονanoixonG455up for us.’

12But he answeredἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisG611, ‘TrulyἀμὴνamēnG281I sayλέγωlegōG3004to you, I do not knowG3609you.’
