17It was toldוַיֻּגַּ֖דvai.yu.GadH5046Joshuaלִיהוֹשֻׁ֣עַli.ho.Shu.a'H3091,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “The fiveחֲמֵ֣שֶׁתcha.Me.shetH2568kingsהַמְּלָכִ֔יםha.me.la.KhimH4428have been foundנִמְצְאוּ֙nim.tze.'UH4672hiddenנֶחְבְּאִ֥יםnech.be.'ImH2244in the caveבַּמְּעָרָ֖הba.me.'a.RahH4631at Makkedahבְּמַקֵּדָֽה׃be.ma.ke.DahH4719.”

18Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Rollגֹּ֛לּוּGo.luH1556largeגְּדֹל֖וֹתge.do.LotH1419stonesאֲבָנִ֥ים'a.va.NimH68againstאֶל־'el-H413the mouthפִּ֣יpiH6310of the caveהַמְּעָרָ֑הha.me.'a.RahH4631,and assignוְהַפְקִ֧ידוּve.haf.Ki.duH6485menH376by it to guardלְשָׁמְרָֽם׃le.sha.me.RamH8104them,

19but do not stayתַּעֲמֹ֔דוּta.'a.Mo.duH5975thereyourselvesH864;pursueרִדְפוּ֙rid.FuH7291your enemiesH340andattackH2179them in the rearוְזִנַּבְתֶּ֖םve.zi.nav.TemH2179.Do not allowתִּתְּנ֗וּםti.te.NumH5414them to enterלָבוֹא֙la.Vo'H935their citiesעָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם'a.rei.HemH5892,for the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם'e.lo.hei.KhemH430has deliveredנְתָנָ֛םne.ta.NamH5414them into your handבְּיֶדְכֶֽם׃be.yed.KhemH3027.”

20It cameוַיְהִי֩vay.HiH1961about when Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091and the sonsוּבְנֵ֣יu.ve.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478had finishedכְּכַלּ֨וֹתke.kha.LotH3615slayingלְהַכּוֹתָ֛םle.ha.ko.TamH5221them with a veryמְאֹ֖דme.'OdH3966greatגְדוֹלָֽה־ge.do.lah-H1419slaughterמַכָּ֥הma.KahH4347,untilעַד־'ad-H5704they were destroyedתֻּמָּ֑םtu.MamH8552,and the survivorsוְהַשְּׂרִידִים֙ve.ha.se.ri.DimH8300whoremainedשָׂרְד֣וּsa.re.DuH8277of themhad enteredוַיָּבֹ֖אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935the fortifiedהַמִּבְצָֽר׃ha.miv.TzarH4013citiesעָרֵ֥י'a.ReiH5892,

21that allכָל־khol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֨םha.'AmH5971returnedוַיָּשֻׁבוּ֩vai.ya.shu.VuH7725to the campהַמַּחֲנֶ֧הha.ma.cha.NehH4264to Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091at Makkedahמַקֵּדָ֖הma.ke.DahH4719in peaceבְּשָׁל֑וֹםbe.sha.LomH7965.Noלֹֽא־lo'-H3808oneutteredחָרַ֞ץcha.RatzH2782a wordלְשֹׁנֽוֹ׃le.sho.NoH3956against any of the sonsלִבְנֵ֧יliv.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֛לYis.ra.'ElH3478.

22Then Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Openפִּתְח֖וּpit.ChuH6605the mouthפִּ֣יpiH6310of the caveהַמְּעָרָ֑הha.me.'a.RahH4631and bringוְהוֹצִ֣יאוּve.ho.Tzi.'uH3318theseהָאֵ֖לֶּהha.'E.lehH428fiveחֲמֵ֛שֶׁתcha.Me.shetH2568kingsהַמְּלָכִ֥יםha.me.la.KhimH4428out to me from the caveהַמְּעָרָֽה׃ha.me.'a.RahH4631.”

23They didוַיַּ֣עֲשׂוּvai.Ya.'a.suH6213soכֵ֔ןKhenH3651, andbroughtוַיֹּצִ֣יאוּvai.yo.Tzi.'uH3318theseהָאֵ֖לֶּהha.'E.lehH428fiveחֲמֵ֛שֶׁתcha.Me.shetH2568kingsהַמְּלָכִ֥יםha.me.la.KhimH4428out to him from the caveהַמְּעָרָ֑הha.me.'a.RahH4631:the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֗םye.ru.sha.LimH3389,the kingמֶ֤לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Hebronחֶבְרוֹן֙chev.rOnH2275,the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Jarmuthיַרְמ֔וּתyar.MutH3412,the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Lachishלָכִ֖ישׁla.KhishH3923, andthe kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Eglonעֶגְלֽוֹן׃eg.LonH5700.

24When they broughtכְּֽהוֹצִיאָ֞םke.ho.tzi.'AmH3318theseהָאֵלֶּה֮ha.'e.LehH428kingsהַמְּלָכִ֣יםha.me.la.KhimH4428out to Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁעַ֒ye.ho.shu.a'H3091,Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091calledוַיִּקְרָ֨אvai.yik.Ra'H7121for allכָּל־kol-H3605the menאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and saidוַ֠יֹּאמֶרVai.yo.merH559to the chiefsקְצִינֵ֞יke.tzi.NeiH7101of the menH376of warהַמִּלְחָמָה֙ha.mil.cha.MahH4421who had goneהֶהָלְכ֣וּאhe.ha.le.Khu'H1980with him, “ComeH7126nearH7126,putשִׂ֚ימוּSi.muH7760your feetרַגְלֵיכֶ֔םrag.lei.KhemH7272on the necksצַוְּארֵ֖יtza.ve.ReiH6677of theseהָאֵ֑לֶּהha.'E.lehH428kingsהַמְּלָכִ֣יםha.me.la.KhimH4428.”So they cameH7126nearH7126and putוַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּvai.ya.Si.muH7760their feetרַגְלֵיהֶ֖םrag.lei.HemH7272on their necksצַוְּארֵיהֶֽם׃tza.ve.rei.HemH6677.

25Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091then saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Do not fearתִּֽירְא֖וּti.re.'UH3372or be dismayedתֵּחָ֑תּוּte.Cha.tuH2865!Be strongחִזְק֣וּchiz.KuH2388and courageousוְאִמְצ֔וּve.'im.TzuH553,for thusכָ֗כָהKha.khahH3602the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068will doיַעֲשֶׂ֤הya.'a.SehH6213to allלְכָל־le.kholH3605your enemiesH340with whomאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834you fightנִלְחָמִ֥יםnil.cha.MimH3898.”

26So afterwardאַֽחֲרֵי־ כֵן֙'a.cha.rei- khenH310 H3651Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֤עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091struckוַיַּכֵּ֨םvai.ya.KemH5221them and putH4191them to deathH4191, and hehangedוַיִּתְלֵ֕םvai.yit.LemH8518them on fiveחֲמִשָּׁ֣הcha.mi.ShahH2568treesעֵצִ֑ים'e.TzimH6086;and they hungתְּלוּיִ֥םte.lu.YimH8518on the treesהָעֵצִ֖יםha.'e.TzimH6086untilעַד־'ad-H5704eveningהָעָֽרֶב׃ha.'A.revH6153.

27It cameוַיְהִ֞יvay.HiH1961about atsunsetבּ֣וֹא הַשֶּׁ֗מֶשׁBo' ha.She.meshH8121 H935that Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ye.ho.Shu.a'H3091gaveH6680a commandצִוָּ֤הtzi.VahH6680, andthey tookH3381them downוַיֹּֽרִידוּם֙vai.yo.ri.DumH3381from the treesהָעֵצִ֔יםha.'e.TzimH6086and threwוַיַּ֨שְׁלִכֻ֔םvai.Yash.li.KhumH7993them into the caveהַמְּעָרָ֖הha.me.'a.RahH4631whereאֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁ֑ם'a.Sher ShamH834 H8033they had hiddenנֶחְבְּאוּ־nech.be.'u-H2244themselves, and putוַיָּשִׂ֜מוּvai.ya.Si.muH7760largeגְּדֹלוֹת֙ge.do.lOtH1419stonesאֲבָנִ֤ים'a.va.NimH68overH5921the mouthפִּ֣יpiH6310of the caveהַמְּעָרָ֔הha.me.'a.RahH4631,to thisהַזֶּֽה׃ פha.ZehH2088veryעֶ֖צֶם'E.tzemH6106dayהַיּ֥וֹםhai.YomH3117.
