1And the wordדְבַר־de.var-H1697of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068cameוַיְהִ֥יvay.HiH1961to me, sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

2“Sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of manאָדָ֗ם'a.DamH120,speakדַּבֵּ֤רda.BerH1696to thesonsבְּנֵֽי־be.nei-H1121of your peopleעַמְּךָ֙'a.me.KhaH5971and sayוְאָמַרְתָּ֣ve.'a.mar.TaH559to them, ‘Ifכִּֽי־ki-H3588I bringאָבִ֥יא'a.Vi'H935a swordחָ֑רֶבCha.revH2719upon a landאֶ֕רֶץ'E.retzH776,and the peopleעַם־'am-H5971of the landהָאָ֜רֶץha.'A.retzH776takeוְלָקְח֨וּve.la.ke.ChuH3947oneאֶחָד֙'e.ChadH259manאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376from amongמִקְצֵיהֶ֔םmik.tzei.HemH7097them and makeוְנָתְנ֥וּve.na.te.NuH5414him their watchmanלְצֹפֶֽה׃le.tzo.PehH6822,

3and he seesוְרָאָ֥הve.ra.'AhH7200the swordהַחֶ֖רֶבha.Che.revH2719comingבָּאָ֣הba.'AhH935upon the landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776andblowsוְתָקַ֥עve.ta.Ka'H8628on the trumpetבַּשּׁוֹפָ֖רba.sho.FarH7782and warnsוְהִזְהִ֥ירve.hiz.HirH2094the peopleהָעָֽם׃ha.'AmH5971,

4then he who hearsH8085the soundק֤וֹלKolH6963of the trumpetהַשּׁוֹפָר֙ha.sho.FarH7782anddoes not takeH2094warningנִזְהָ֔רniz.HarH2094,and a swordחֶ֖רֶבChe.revH2719comesוַתָּ֥בוֹאva.Ta.Vo'H935and takesוַתִּקָּחֵ֑הוּva.ti.ka.Che.huH3947him away, hisbloodדָּמ֥וֹda.MoH1818will be on his ownheadבְרֹאשׁ֖וֹve.ro.ShoH7218.

5He heardשָׁמַע֙sha.Ma'H8085the soundק֨וֹלKolH6963of the trumpetהַשּׁוֹפָ֤רha.sho.FarH7782but did not takeH2094warningנִזְהָ֔רniz.HarH2094;his bloodדָּמ֖וֹda.MoH1818will be on himself. But had he takenH2094warningנִזְהָ֖רniz.HarH2094, he would havedeliveredמִלֵּֽט׃mi.LetH4422his lifeנַפְשׁ֥וֹnaf.ShoH5315.

6But ifכִּֽי־ki-H3588the watchmanוְ֠הַצֹּפֶהVe.ha.tzo.fehH6822seesיִרְאֶ֨הyir.'EhH7200the swordהַחֶ֜רֶבha.Che.revH2719comingבָּאָ֗הba.'AhH935and does not blowתָקַ֤עta.Ka'H8628the trumpetבַּשּׁוֹפָר֙ba.sho.FarH7782and the peopleוְהָעָ֣םve.ha.'AmH5971are not warnedנִזְהָ֔רniz.HarH2094,and a swordחֶ֔רֶבChe.revH2719comesוַתָּב֣וֹאva.ta.Vo'H935and takesוַתִּקַּ֥חva.ti.KachH3947a personנָ֑פֶשׁNa.feshH5315from them, he istakenנִלְקָ֔חnil.KachH3947awayin his iniquityבַּעֲוֹנ֣וֹba.'a.vo.NoH5771; but hisbloodוְדָמ֖וֹve.da.MoH1818I will requireאֶדְרֹֽשׁ׃ ס'ed.RoshH1875from the watchman’sהַצֹּפֶ֥הha.tzo.PehH6822handמִיַּֽד־mi.yad-H3027.’

7“Now as for you, sonבֶן־ven-H1121of manאָדָ֔ם'a.DamH120, I haveappointedנְתַתִּ֖יךָne.ta.Ti.khaH5414you a watchmanצֹפֶ֥הtzo.PehH6822for the houseלְבֵ֣יתle.VeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478;so you will hearוְשָׁמַעְתָּ֤ve.sha.ma'.TaH8085amessageדָּבָ֔רda.VarH1697from My mouthמִפִּי֙mi.PiH6310and giveH2094themwarningוְהִזְהַרְתָּ֥ve.hiz.har.TaH2094from Me.

8When I sayבְּאָמְרִ֣יbe.'a.me.RiH559to the wickedלָרָשָׁ֗עla.ra.Sha'H7563, ‘O wickedרָשָׁע֙ra.Sha'H7563manH7563, you willsurelyמ֣וֹתMotH4191dieתָּמ֔וּתta.MutH4191,’and you do not speakדִבַּ֔רְתָּdi.Bar.taH1696to warnלְהַזְהִ֥ירle.haz.HirH2094the wickedרָשָׁ֖עra.Sha'H7563from his wayמִדַּרְכּ֑וֹmi.dar.KoH1870,that wickedרָשָׁע֙ra.Sha'H7563manH7563shall dieיָמ֔וּתya.MutH4191in his iniquityבַּעֲוֹנ֣וֹba.'a.vo.NoH5771,but his bloodוְדָמ֖וֹve.da.MoH1818I will requireאֲבַקֵּֽשׁ׃'a.va.KeshH1245from your handמִיָּדְךָ֥mi.ya.de.KhaH3027.

9But ifכִּֽי־ki-H3588you on your partH859warnהִזְהַ֨רְתָּhiz.Har.taH2094a wickedרָשָׁ֤עra.Sha'H7563manH7563to turnלָשׁ֣וּבla.ShuvH7725from his wayמִדַּרְכּוֹ֙mi.dar.KoH1870and hedoes not turnשָׁ֖בshavH7725from his wayמִדַּרְכּ֑וֹmi.dar.KoH1870,he will dieיָמ֔וּתya.MutH4191in his iniquityבַּעֲוֹנ֣וֹba.'a.vo.NoH5771, but you havedeliveredהִצַּֽלְתָּ׃ סhi.Tzal.taH5337your lifeנַפְשְׁךָ֥naf.she.KhaH5315.

10“Now as for you, sonבֶן־ven-H1121of manאָדָ֗ם'a.DamH120,sayאֱמֹר֙'e.MorH559to the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478, ‘Thusכֵּ֤ןkenH3651you have spokenאֲמַרְתֶּם֙'a.mar.TemH559,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Surelyכִּֽי־ki-H3588our transgressionsפְשָׁעֵ֥ינוּfe.sha.'Ei.nuH6588and our sinsוְחַטֹּאתֵ֖ינוּve.cha.to.Tei.nuH2403are upon us, and we arerottingH4743awayנְמַקִּ֖יםne.ma.KimH4743in them;howוְאֵ֥יךְve.'EikhH349then can wesurviveנִֽחְיֶֽה׃Nich.YehH2421?”’

11Sayאֱמֹ֨ר'e.MorH559to them, ‘As I liveחַי־chai-H2416!’declaresנְאֻ֣ם׀ne.'UmH5002the Lordאֲדֹנָ֣י'a.do.NaiH136GodH3068, ‘I takeאֶחְפֹּץ֙'ech.PotzH2654noאִם־'im-H518pleasureH2654in the deathבְּמ֣וֹתbe.MotH4194of the wickedהָרָשָׁ֔עha.ra.Sha'H7563,but ratherכִּ֣י אִם־ki 'im-H3588 H518that the wickedרָשָׁ֛עra.Sha'H7563turnH7725from his wayמִדַּרְכּ֖וֹmi.dar.KoH1870and liveוְחָיָ֑הve.cha.YahH2421.TurnH7725backבְּשׁ֥וּבbe.ShuvH7725,turnשׁ֣וּבוּShu.vuH7725backשׁ֜וּבוּShu.vuH7725from your evilהָרָעִ֛יםha.ra.'ImH7451waysמִדַּרְכֵיכֶ֧םmi.dar.khei.KhemH1870!Whyוְלָ֥מָּהve.La.mahH4100then will you dieתָמ֖וּתוּta.Mu.tuH4191,O houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פYis.ra.'ElH3478?’

12And you, sonבֶן־ven-H1121of manאָדָ֗ם'a.DamH120,sayאֱמֹ֤ר'e.MorH559toyour fellowבְּנֵֽי־be.nei-H1121 H5971citizensH5971, ‘Therighteousnessצִדְקַ֣תtzid.KatH6666of a righteousהַצַּדִּ֗יקha.tza.DikH6662manH6662will not deliverתַצִּילֶ֙נּוּ֙ta.tzi.Le.nuH5337him in the dayבְּי֣וֹםbe.YomH3117of his transgressionפִּשְׁע֔וֹpish.'OH6588,and as for the wickednessוְרִשְׁעַ֤תve.rish.'AtH7564of the wickedהָֽרָשָׁע֙ha.ra.Sha'H7563, he willnot stumbleיִכָּ֣שֶׁלyi.Ka.shelH3782because of it in the dayבְּי֖וֹםbe.YomH3117when he turnsשׁוּב֣וֹshu.VoH7725from his wickednessמֵֽרִשְׁע֑וֹme.rish.'OH7562;whereas a righteousוְצַדִּ֗יקve.tza.DikH6662manH6662will not be ableיוּכַ֛לyu.KhalH3201to liveלִֽחְי֥וֹתlich.YotH2421by his righteousness on the dayבְּי֥וֹםbe.YomH3117when he commitsH2398sinחֲטֹאתֽוֹ׃cha.to.ToH2398.’

13When I sayבְּאָמְרִ֤יbe.'a.me.RiH559to the righteousלַצַּדִּיק֙la.tza.DikH6662he will surelyחָיֹ֣הcha.YohH2421liveיִֽחְיֶ֔הyich.YehH2421, and he sotrustsבָטַ֥חva.TachH982in his righteousnessH6666that hecommitsוְעָ֣שָׂהve.'A.sahH6213iniquityעָ֑וֶל'A.velH5766,noneכָּל־ לֹ֣אkol- lo'H3605 H3808of his righteousH6666deedsH6666will be rememberedתִזָּכַ֔רְנָהti.za.Khar.nahH2142;but in that same iniquityוּבְעַוְל֥וֹu.ve.'av.LoH5766of his whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834he has committedעָשָׂ֖ה'a.SahH6213he will dieיָמֽוּת׃ya.MutH4191.

14But when I sayוּבְאָמְרִ֥יu.ve.'a.me.RiH559to the wickedלָֽרָשָׁ֖עla.ra.Sha'H7563, ‘You will surelyמ֣וֹתMotH4191dieתָּמ֑וּתta.MutH4191,’ and heturnsוְשָׁב֙ve.ShavH7725from his sinמֵֽחַטָּאת֔וֹme.cha.ta.ToH2403and practicesוְעָשָׂ֥הve.'a.SahH6213justiceמִשְׁפָּ֖טmish.PatH4941and righteousnessוּצְדָקָֽה׃u.tze.da.KahH6666,

15if awickedרָשָׁע֙ra.Sha'H7563manH7563restoresיָשִׁ֤יבya.ShivH7725a pledgeחֲבֹ֨לcha.VolH2258,paysH7999backH7999whatH1500he has takenH1500by robberyגְּזֵלָ֣הge.ze.LahH1500,walksהָלַ֔ךְha.LakhH1980by thestatutesבְּחֻקּ֤וֹתbe.chu.KotH2708which ensure lifeH2425withoutלְבִלְתִּ֖יle.vil.TiH1115committingעֲשׂ֣וֹתa.SotH6213iniquityעָ֑וֶל'A.velH5766,he shall surelyחָי֥וֹcha.YoH2421liveיִֽחְיֶ֖הyich.YehH2421;he shall not dieיָמֽוּת׃ya.MutH4191.

16Noneכָּל־ לֹ֥אkol- lo'H3605 H3808of his sinsחַטֹּאתָיו֙cha.ta.tovH2403that he has committedחָטָ֔אcha.Ta'H2398will be rememberedתִזָּכַ֖רְנָהti.za.Khar.nahH2142against him. He has practicedעָשָׂ֖ה'a.SahH6213justiceמִשְׁפָּ֧טmish.PatH4941and righteousnessוּצְדָקָ֛הu.tze.da.KahH6666;he shall surelyחָי֥וֹcha.YoH2421liveיִֽחְיֶֽה׃Yich.YehH2421.

17“Yetyour fellowבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121 H5971citizensH5971sayוְאָמְרוּ֙ve.'a.me.RuH559, ‘The wayדֶּ֣רֶךְDe.rekhH1870of the Lordאֲדֹנָ֑י'a.do.NaiH136is not rightיִתָּכֵ֖ןyi.ta.KhenH8505,’when it is their own wayדַּרְכָּ֥םdar.KamH1870that is not rightיִתָּכֵֽן׃yi.ta.KhenH8505.

18When the righteousצַדִּ֥יקtza.DikH6662turnsבְּשׁוּב־be.shuv-H7725from his righteousnessמִצִּדְקָת֖וֹmi.tzid.ka.ToH6666andcommitsוְעָ֣שָׂהve.'A.sahH6213iniquityעָ֑וֶל'A.velH5766,then he shall dieוּמֵ֖תu.MetH4191in it.

19But when the wickedרָשָׁע֙ra.Sha'H7563turnsוּבְשׁ֤וּבu.ve.ShuvH7725from his wickednessמֵֽרִשְׁעָת֔וֹme.rish.'a.ToH7564and practicesוְעָשָׂ֥הve.'a.SahH6213justiceמִשְׁפָּ֖טmish.PatH4941and righteousnessוּצְדָקָ֑הu.tze.da.KahH6666,he will liveיִֽחְיֶֽה׃Yich.YehH2421by them.
