Revelation 18:5-19
5for her sins have 12piled up as high as heaven, and God has 3remembered her iniquities. 64Pay her back even as she has paid, and 5give back to her double according to her deeds; in the 6cup which she has mixed, mix twice as much for her. 77To the degree that she glorified herself and 8lived 9sensuously, to the same degree give her torment and mourning; for she says in her heart, ‘10I sit as a queen and I am not a widow, and will never see mourning.’ 8For this reason 11in one day her plagues will come, 12pestilence and mourning and famine, and she will be 13burned up with fire; for the Lord God who judges her 14is strong.
9“And 15the kings of the earth, who committed acts of immorality and 16lived 17sensuously with her, will 18weep and lament over her when they 19see the smoke of her burning, 1020standing at a distance because of the fear of her torment, saying, ‘21Woe, woe, 22the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For in 23one hour your judgment has come.’
11“And the 24merchants of the earth 25weep and mourn over her, because no one buys their cargoes any more-- 12cargoes of 26gold and silver and precious 27stones and pearls and fine linen and purple and silk and scarlet, and every kind of citron wood and every article of ivory and every article made from very costly wood and 28bronze and iron and marble, 13and cinnamon and 29spice and incense and perfume and frankincense and wine and olive oil and fine flour and wheat and cattle and sheep, and cargoes of horses and chariots and 30slaves and 3132human lives. 14The fruit 33you long for has gone from you, and all things that were luxurious and splendid have passed away from you and men will no longer find them. 15The 34merchants of 35these things, who became rich from her, will 36stand at a distance because of the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning, 16saying, ‘37Woe, woe, 38the great city, she who 39was clothed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and 40adorned with gold and precious 41stones and pearls; 17for in 42one hour such great wealth has been laid 43waste!’ And 44every shipmaster and every 45passenger and sailor, and as many as make their living by the sea, 46stood at a distance, 18and were 47crying out as they 48saw the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘49What city is like 50the great city?’ 19And they threw 51dust on their heads and were crying out, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘52Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had ships at sea 53became rich by her 54wealth, for in 55one hour she has been laid 56waste!’
