Revelation 6
The First Seal--Rider on White Horse
1Then I saw when the 1Lamb broke one of the 2seven seals, and I heard one of the 3four living creatures saying as with a 4voice of thunder, “Come5.” 2I looked, and behold, a 6white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and 7a crown was given to him, and he went out 8conquering and to conquer.
The Second Seal--War
3When He broke the second seal, I heard the 9second living creature saying, “Come10.” 4And another, 11a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to 12take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him.
The Third Seal--Famine
5When He broke the third seal, I heard the 13third living creature saying, “Come14.” I looked, and behold, a 15black horse; and he who sat on it had a 16pair of scales in his hand. 6And I heard something like a voice in the center of the 17four living creatures saying, “A 18quart of wheat for a 19denarius, and three 20quarts of barley for a 21denarius; and 22do not damage the oil and the wine.”
The Fourth Seal--Death
7When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the 23fourth living creature saying, “Come24.” 8I looked, and behold, an 2526ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name 27Death; and 28Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, 29to kill with sword and with famine and with 30pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.
The Fifth Seal--Martyrs
9When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw 31underneath the 32altar the 33souls of those who had been slain 34because of the word of God, and because of the 35testimony which they had maintained; 10and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, “36How long, O 3738Lord, 39holy and true, 40will You refrain from 41judging and avenging our blood on 42those who dwell on the earth?” 11And 43there was given to each of them a white robe; and they were told that they should 44rest for a little while longer, 45until the number of their fellow servants and their brethren who were to be killed even as they had been, would be 46completed also.
The Sixth Seal--Terror
12I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great 47earthquake; and the 48sun became black as 49sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; 13and 50the stars of the sky fell to the earth, 51as a fig tree casts its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind. 1452The sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up, and 53every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15Then 54the kings of the earth and the great men and the 55commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; 16and they 56said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the 57presence of Him 58who sits on the throne, and from the 59wrath of the Lamb; 17for 60the great day of their wrath has come, and 61who is able to stand?”
