Revelation 21
The New Heaven and Earth
1Then I saw 1a new heaven and a new earth; for 2the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. 2And I saw 3the holy city, 4new Jerusalem, 5coming down out of heaven from God, 6made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, 7the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will 89dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them10, 4and He will 11wipe away every tear from their eyes; and 12there will no longer be any death; 13there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; 14the first things have passed away.”
5And 15He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am 16making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for 17these words are faithful and true.” 6Then He said to me, “1819It is done. I am the 20Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. 21I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the 22water of life without cost. 723He who overcomes will inherit these things, and 24I will be his God and he will be My son. 825But for the cowardly and 26unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in 27the lake that burns with fire and 28brimstone, which is the 29second death.”
930Then one of the seven angels who had the 31seven bowls 32full of the 33seven last plagues came and spoke with me, saying, “34Come here, I will show you the 35bride, the wife of the Lamb.”
The New Jerusalem
10And 36he carried me away 3738in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me 39the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, 11having 40the glory of God. Her 41brilliance was like a very costly stone, as a 42stone of 43crystal-clear jasper. 1244It had a great and high wall, 4546with twelve 47gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names were written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. 13There were three gates on the east and three gates on the north and three gates on the south and three gates on the west. 14And the wall of the city had 48twelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the 49twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15The one who spoke with me had a 50gold measuring 51rod to measure the city, and its 52gates and its wall. 16The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width; and he measured the city with the 53rod, 54fifteen hundred miles; its length and width and height are equal. 17And he measured its wall, 55seventy-two yards, according to 56human 57measurements, which are also 58angelic measurements. 18The material of the wall was 59jasper; and the city was 60pure gold, like 61clear 62glass. 1963The foundation stones of the city wall were adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation stone was 64jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, 65emerald; 20the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, 66sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. 21And the twelve 67gates were twelve 68pearls; each one of the gates was a single pearl. And the street of the city was 69pure gold, like transparent 70glass.
22I saw 71no 72temple in it, for the 73Lord God the Almighty and the 74Lamb are its 75temple. 23And the city 76has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for 77the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the 78Lamb. 2479The nations will walk by its light, and the 80kings of the earth 81will bring their glory into it. 25In the daytime (for 82there will be no night there) 83its gates 84will never be closed; 26and 85they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it; 27and 86nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those 87whose names are 88written in the Lamb’s book of life.
