Revelation 18:5-19
5for her sins have 12piled up as high as heaven, and God has 3remembered her offenses. 64Pay her back even as she has paid, and 5give back to her double according to her deeds; in the 6cup which she has mixed, mix twice as much for her. 77To the extent that she glorified herself and 8lived luxuriously, to the same extent give her torment and mourning; for she says in her heart, ‘9I sit as a queen and I am not a widow, and will never see mourning.’ 8For this reason 10in one day her plagues will come, 11plague and mourning and famine, and she will be 12burned up with fire; for the Lord God who judges her 13is strong.
9“And 14the kings of the earth, who committed acts of sexual immorality and 15lived luxuriously with her, will 16weep and mourn over her when they 17see the smoke of her burning, 1018standing at a distance because of the fear of her torment, saying, ‘19Woe, woe, 20the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For in 21one hour your judgment has come.’
11“And the 22merchants of the earth 23weep and mourn over her, because no one buys their cargo any more-- 12cargo of 24gold, silver, precious 25stones, and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk, and scarlet; every kind of citron wood, every article of ivory, and every article made from very valuable wood, 26bronze, iron, and marble; 13cinnamon, 27spice, incense, perfume, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle, sheep, and cargo of horses, carriages, 28slaves, and 29human lives. 14The fruit 30you long for has left you, and all things that were luxurious and splendid have passed away from you and people will no longer find them. 15The 31merchants of 32these things, who became rich from her, will 33stand at a distance because of the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning, 16saying, ‘34Woe, woe, 35the great city, she who 36was clothed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and 37adorned with gold, precious 38stones, and pearls; 17for in 39one hour such great wealth has been laid 40waste!’ And 41every shipmaster and every 42passenger and sailor, and all who 43make their living by the sea, 44stood at a distance, 18and were 45crying out as they 46saw the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘47What city is like 48the great city?’ 19And they threw 49dust on their heads and were crying out, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘50Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had ships at sea 51became rich from her prosperity, for in 52one hour she has been laid 53waste!’
