1Now it came to pass in the seventhהַשְּׁבִיעִ֗יha.she.vi.'IH7637monthבַּחֹ֣דֶשׁba.Cho.deshH2320, thatIshmaelיִשְׁמָעֵ֣אלyish.ma.'ElH3458the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nethaniahנְתַנְיָ֣הne.tan.YahH5418the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Elishamaאֱלִישָׁמָ֣ע'e.li.sha.Ma'H476,of the seedמִזֶּ֣רַעmi.Ze.ra'H2233royalהַ֠מְּלוּכָהHa.me.lu.khahH4410,and the princesוְרַבֵּ֨יve.ra.BeiH7227of the kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,even tenוַעֲשָׂרָ֨הva.'a.sa.RahH6235menאֲנָשִׁ֥ים'a.na.ShimH582with him, cameבָּ֣אba'H935unto Gedaliahגְּדַלְיָ֥הוּge.dal.Ya.huH1436the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Ahikamאֲחִיקָ֖ם'a.chi.KamH296to MizpahH4709;and there they did eatוַיֹּ֨אכְלוּvai.Yo.khe.luH398breadלֶ֛חֶםLe.chemH3899togetherיַחְדָּ֖וyach.DavH3162in MizpahH4708.

2Then aroseוַיָּקָם֩vai.ya.KamH6965Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵ֨אלyish.ma.'ElH3458the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nethaniahנְתַנְיָ֜הne.tan.YahH5418,and the tenוַעֲשֶׂ֥רֶתva.'a.Se.retH6235menהָאֲנָשִׁ֣ים׀ha.'a.na.ShimH582that were with him, and smoteוַ֠יַּכּוּVai.ya.kuH5221Gedaliahגְּדַלְיָ֨הוּge.dal.Ya.huH1436the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Ahikamאֲחִיקָ֧ם'a.chi.KamH296the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Shaphanשָׁפָ֛ןsha.FanH8227with the swordבַּחֶ֖רֶבba.Che.revH2719,and slewוַיָּ֣מֶתvai.Ya.metH4191him, whom the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Babylonבָּבֶ֖לba.VelH894had made governorהִפְקִ֥ידhif.KidH6485over the landבָּאָֽרֶץ׃ba.'A.retzH776.

3Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵֽאל׃yish.ma.'ElH3458also slewהִכָּ֖הhi.KahH5221all the Jewsהַיְּהוּדִ֗יםhai.ye.hu.DimH3064that were with him, evenwith Gedaliahגְּדַלְיָ֙הוּ֙ge.dal.Ya.huH1436,at Mizpahבַּמִּצְפָּ֔הba.mitz.PahH4709,and the Chaldeansהַכַּשְׂדִּ֖יםha.kas.DimH3778that were foundנִמְצְאוּ־nim.tze.'u-H4672there, andthe menאַנְשֵׁ֣י'an.SheiH582of warהַמִּלְחָמָ֔הha.mil.cha.MahH4421.

4And it came to pass the secondהַשֵּׁנִ֖יha.she.NiH8145dayבַּיּ֥וֹםbai.YomH3117after he had slainלְהָמִ֣יתle.ha.MitH4191Gedaliahגְּדַלְיָ֑הוּge.dal.Ya.huH1436,and no manוְאִ֖ישׁve.'IshH376knewיָדָֽע׃ya.Da'H3045it,

5That there cameוַיָּבֹ֣אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935certainאֲ֠נָשִׁים'A.na.shimH582from Shechemמִשְּׁכֶ֞םmi.she.KhemH7927,from Shilohמִשִּׁל֤וֹmi.shi.LoH7887,and from Samariaוּמִשֹּֽׁמְרוֹן֙u.mi.sho.me.rOnH8111, evenfourscoreשְׁמֹנִ֣יםshe.mo.NimH8084menאִ֔ישׁ'IshH376,having their beardsזָקָ֛ןza.KanH2206shavenמְגֻלְּחֵ֥יme.gu.le.CheiH1548,and their clothesבְגָדִ֖יםve.ga.DimH899rentוּקְרֻעֵ֥יu.ke.ru.'EiH7167,and having cutוּמִתְגֹּֽדְדִ֑יםu.mit.go.de.DimH1413themselves, with offeringsוּמִנְחָ֤הu.min.ChahH4503and incenseוּלְבוֹנָה֙u.le.vo.NahH3828in their handבְּיָדָ֔םbe.ya.DamH3027,to bringלְהָבִ֖יאle.ha.Vi'H935themto the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

6And Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵ֨אלyish.ma.'ElH3458the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nethaniahנְתַנְיָ֤הne.tan.YahH5418went forthוַ֠יֵּצֵאVai.ye.tze'H3318from Mizpahהַמִּצְפָּ֔הha.mitz.PahH4709to meetH7125them, weepingוּבֹכֶ֑הu.vo.KhehH1058all alongהֹלֵ֥ךְho.LekhH1980as he wentהָלֹ֖ךְha.LokhH1980:and it came to pass, as he metכִּפְגֹ֣שׁkif.GoshH6298them, he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto them, Comeבֹּ֖אוּBo.'uH935to Gedaliahגְּדַלְיָ֥הוּge.dal.Ya.huH1436the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Ahikamאֲחִיקָֽם׃ ס'a.chi.KamH296.

7And it was so,when they cameכְּבוֹאָ֖םke.vo.'AmH935into the midstתּ֣וֹךְTokhH8432of the cityהָעִ֑ירha.'IrH5892,that Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵ֤אלyish.ma.'ElH3458the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nethaniahנְתַנְיָה֙ne.tan.YahH5418slewוַיִּשְׁחָטֵ֞םvai.yish.cha.TemH7819them, and cast theminto the midstתּ֣וֹךְTokhH8432of the pitהַבּ֔וֹרha.BorH953,he, and the menוְהָאֲנָשִׁ֥יםve.ha.'a.na.ShimH582that were with him.

8But tenוַעֲשָׂרָ֨הva.'a.sa.RahH6235menאֲנָשִׁ֜ים'a.na.ShimH582were foundנִמְצְאוּ־nim.tze.'u-H4672among them that saidוַיֹּאמְר֤וּvai.yo.me.RuH559unto Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵאל֙yish.ma.'eLH3458,Slayתְּמִתֵ֔נוּte.mi.Te.nuH4191us not: for we haveיֶשׁ־yesh-H3426treasuresמַטְמֹנִים֙mat.mo.NimH4301in the fieldבַּשָּׂדֶ֔הba.sa.DehH7704,of wheatחִטִּ֥יםchi.TimH2406,and of barleyוּשְׂעֹרִ֖יםu.se.'o.RimH8184,and of oilוְשֶׁ֣מֶןve.She.menH8081,and of honeyוּדְבָ֑שׁu.de.VashH1706.So he forbareוַיֶּחְדַּ֕לvai.yech.DalH2308,and slewהֱמִיתָ֖םhe.mi.TamH4191them not amongבְּת֥וֹךְbe.TokhH8432their brethrenאֲחֵיהֶֽם׃'a.chei.HemH251.

9Now the pitוְהַבּ֗וֹרve.ha.BorH953wherein Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵאל֙yish.ma.'eLH3458had castהִשְׁלִ֨יךְhish.LikhH7993all the dead bodiesפִּגְרֵ֣יpig.ReiH6297of the menהָאֲנָשִׁ֗יםha.'a.na.ShimH582,whom he had slainהִכָּה֙hi.KahH5221becauseבְּיַד־be.yad-H3027of Gedaliahגְּדַלְיָ֔הוּge.dal.Ya.huH1436, wasit which Asaאָסָ֔א'a.Sa'H609the kingהַמֶּ֣לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428had madeעָשָׂה֙'a.SahH6213for fearמִפְּנֵ֖יmi.pe.NeiH6440of Baashaבַּעְשָׁ֣אba'.Sha'H1201kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478: andIshmaelיִשְׁמָעֵ֥אלyish.ma.'ElH3458the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nethaniahנְתַנְיָ֖הוּne.tan.Ya.huH5418filledמִלֵּ֛אmi.Le'H4390it with them that wereslainחֲלָלִֽים׃cha.la.LimH2491.

10Then Ishmaelיִ֠שְׁמָעֵאלYish.ma.'elH3458carried away captiveוַיִּ֣שְׁבְּ׀vai.YishbH7617all the residueשְׁאֵרִ֨יתshe.'e.RitH7611of the peopleהָעָ֜םha.'AmH5971that werein Mizpahבַּמִּצְפָּ֗הba.mitz.PahH4709, eventhe king’sהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428daughtersבְּנ֤וֹתbe.NotH1323,and all the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971that remainedהַנִּשְׁאָרִ֣יםha.nish.'a.RimH7604in Mizpahבַּמִּצְפָּ֔הba.mitz.PahH4709,whom Nebuzar–adanנְבֽוּזַרְאֲדָן֙ne.vu.zar.'a.DanH5018the captainרַב־rav-H7227of the guardטַבָּחִ֔יםta.ba.ChimH2876had committedהִפְקִ֗ידhif.KidH6485to Gedaliahגְּדַלְיָ֖הוּge.dal.Ya.huH1436the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Ahikamאֲחִיקָ֑ם'a.chi.KamH296:and Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵ֣אלyish.ma.'ElH3458the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nethaniahנְתַנְיָ֔הne.tan.YahH5418carried them away captiveוַיִּשְׁבֵּם֙vai.yish.BemH7617,and departedH3212to go overלַעֲבֹ֖רla.'a.VorH5674to the Ammonitesבְּנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן׃ סbe.Nei a.MonH5983 H1121.

11But when Johananיוֹחָנָ֣ןyo.cha.NanH3110the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Kareahקָרֵ֔חַka.Re.achH7143,and all the captainsשָׂרֵ֥יsa.ReiH8269of the forcesהַחֲיָלִ֖יםha.cha.ya.LimH2428that werewith him, heardוַיִּשְׁמַע֙vai.yish.Ma'H8085of all the evilהָֽרָעָה֙ha.ra.'AhH7451that Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵ֖אלyish.ma.'ElH3458the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nethaniahנְתַנְיָֽה׃ne.tan.YahH5418had doneעָשָׂ֔ה'a.SahH6213,

12Then they tookוַיִּקְחוּ֙vai.yik.ChuH3947all the menהָ֣אֲנָשִׁ֔יםha.'a.na.ShimH582,and wentH3212to fightלְהִלָּחֵ֖םle.hi.la.ChemH3898with Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵ֣אלyish.ma.'ElH3458the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nethaniahנְתַנְיָ֑הne.tan.YahH5418,and foundוַיִּמְצְא֣וּvai.yim.tze.'UH4672him by the greatרַבִּ֖יםra.BimH7227watersמַ֥יִםMa.yimH4325that arein Gibeonבְּגִבְעֽוֹן׃be.giv.'onH1391.

13Now it came to pass, thatwhen all the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971which werewith Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵ֔אלyish.ma.'ElH3458sawכִּרְא֤וֹתkir.'otH7200Johananיֽוֹחָנָן֙yo.cha.NanH3110the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Kareahקָרֵ֔חַka.Re.achH7143,and all the captainsשָׂרֵ֥יsa.ReiH8269of the forcesהַחֲיָלִ֖יםha.cha.ya.LimH2428that werewith him, then they were gladוַיִּשְׂמָֽחוּ׃vai.yis.Ma.chuH8055.

14So all the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971that Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵ֖אלyish.ma.'ElH3458had carried away captiveשָׁבָ֥הsha.VahH7617from Mizpahהַמִּצְפָּ֑הha.mitz.PahH4709cast aboutוַיָּסֹ֙בּוּ֙vai.ya.So.buH5437and returnedוַיָּשֻׁ֙בוּ֙vai.ya.Shu.vuH7725,and wentH3212unto Johananיֽוֹחָנָ֖ןyo.cha.NanH3110the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Kareahקָרֵֽחַ׃ka.Re.achH7143.

15But Ishmaelוְיִשְׁמָעֵ֣אלve.yish.ma.'ElH3458the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nethaniahנְתַנְיָ֗הne.tan.YahH5418escapedנִמְלַט֙nim.LatH4422fromמִפְּנֵ֖יmi.pe.NeiH6440Johananיֽוֹחָנָ֑ןyo.cha.NanH3110with eightבִּשְׁמֹנָ֣הbish.mo.NahH8083menאֲנָשִׁ֔ים'a.na.ShimH582,and wentH3212to the Ammonitesבְּנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן׃ סbe.Nei a.MonH5983 H1121.
