1And Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto Jacobיַעֲקֹ֔בya.'a.KoH3290,Ariseק֛וּםkumH6965,go upעֲלֵ֥ה'a.LehH5927to Beth–elH1008,and dwellוְשֶׁב־ve.shev-H3427there: and makeוַעֲשֵׂה־va.'a.seh-H6213there an altarמִזְבֵּ֔חַmiz.Be.achH4196unto Godלָאֵל֙la.'ElH410,that appearedהַנִּרְאֶ֣הha.nir.'EhH7200unto thee when thou fleddestבְּבָרְחֲךָ֔be.va.re.cha.KhaH1272from the faceמִפְּנֵ֖יmi.pe.NeiH6440of Esauעֵשָׂ֥ו'e.SavH6215thy brotherאָחִֽיךָ׃'a.Chi.khaH251.

2Then Jacobיַעֲקֹב֙ya.'a.KoH3290saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto his householdבֵּית֔וֹbei.ToH1004, and to all that werewith him, Put awayהָסִ֜רוּha.Si.ruH5493the strangeהַנֵּכָר֙ha.ne.KharH5236godsאֱלֹהֵ֤י'e.lo.HeiH430that areamong youבְּתֹכְכֶ֔םbe.to.khe.KhemH8432,and be cleanוְהִֽטַּהֲר֔וּve.hi.ta.ha.RuH2891,and changeוְהַחֲלִ֖יפוּve.ha.cha.Li.fuH2498your garmentsשִׂמְלֹתֵיכֶֽם׃sim.lo.tei.KhemH8071:

3And let us ariseוְנָק֥וּמָהve.na.Ku.mahH6965,and go upוְנַעֲלֶ֖הve.na.'a.LehH5927to Beth–elH1008;and I will makeוְאֶֽעֱשֶׂה־ve.'e.'e.seh-H6213there an altarמִזְבֵּ֗חַmiz.Be.achH4196unto Godלָאֵ֞לla.'ElH410,who answeredהָעֹנֶ֤הha.'o.NehH6030me in the dayבְּי֣וֹםbe.YomH3117of my distressצָֽרָתִ֔יtza.ra.TiH6869,and was with me in the wayבַּדֶּ֖רֶךְba.De.rekhH1870which I wentהָלָֽכְתִּי׃ha.La.khe.tiH1980.

4And they gaveוַיִּתְּנ֣וּvai.yi.te.NuH5414unto Jacobיַעֲקֹ֗בya.'a.KoH3290all the strangeהַנֵּכָר֙ha.ne.KharH5236godsאֱלֹהֵ֤י'e.lo.HeiH430which werein their handבְּיָדָ֔םbe.ya.DamH3027, and all theirearringsהַנְּזָמִ֖יםha.ne.za.MimH5141which werein their earsבְּאָזְנֵיהֶ֑םbe.'a.ze.nei.HemH241;and Jacobיַעֲקֹ֔בya.'a.KoH3290hidוַיִּטְמֹ֤ןvai.yit.MonH2934them under the oakהָאֵלָ֖הha.'e.LahH424which wasby Shechemשְׁכֶֽם׃she.KhemH7927.

5And they journeyedוַיִּסָּ֑עוּvai.yi.Sa.'uH5265:and the terrorחִתַּ֣תchi.TatH2847of Godאֱלֹהִ֗ים'E.lo.HimH430was upon the citiesהֶֽעָרִים֙he.'a.RimH5892that wereround aboutסְבִיבֹ֣תֵיהֶ֔םse.vi.Vo.tei.HemH5439them, and they did not pursueרָֽדְפ֔וּra.de.FuH7291afterאַחֲרֵ֖י'a.cha.ReiH310the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Jacobיַעֲקֹֽב׃ya.'a.KoH3290.

6So Jacobיַעֲקֹ֜בya.'a.KoH3290cameוַיָּבֹ֨אvai.ya.Vo'H935to Luzל֗וּזָהLu.zahH3870, which isin the landבְּאֶ֣רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of Canaanכְּנַ֔עַןke.Na.'anH3667, that is,Beth–elH1008,he and all the peopleהָעָ֥םha.'AmH5971that were with him.

7And he builtוַיִּ֤בֶןvai.Yi.venH1129there an altarמִזְבֵּ֔חַmiz.Be.achH4196,and calledוַיִּקְרָא֙vai.yik.Ra'H7121the placeלַמָּק֔וֹםla.ma.KomH4725El–beth–elH416:because there Godהָֽאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430appearedנִגְל֤וּnig.LuH1540unto him, when he fledבְּבָרְח֖וֹbe.va.re.ChoH1272from the faceמִפְּנֵ֥יmi.pe.NeiH6440of his brotherאָחִֽיו׃'a.ChivH251.

8But Deborahדְּבֹרָה֙de.vo.RahH1683Rebekah’sרִבְקָ֔הriv.KahH7259nurseמֵינֶ֣קֶתmei.Ne.ketH3243diedוַתָּ֤מָתva.Ta.motH4191,and she was buriedוַתִּקָּבֵ֛רva.ti.ka.VerH6912beneath Beth–elH1008under an oakהָֽאַלּ֑וֹןha.'a.LonH437:and the nameשְׁמ֖וֹshe.MoH8034of it was calledוַיִּקְרָ֥אvai.yik.Ra'H7121Allon–bachuthH439.

9And Godאֱלֹהִ֤ים'E.lo.HimH430appearedוַיֵּרָ֨אvai.ye.Ra'H7200unto Jacobיַעֲקֹב֙ya.'a.KoH3290again, when he cameבְּבֹא֖וֹbe.vo.'OH935out of Padan–aramמִפַּדַּ֣ןmi.pa.DanH6307,and blessedוַיְבָ֖רֶךְvay.Va.rekhH1288him.

10And Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430saidוַיֹּֽאמֶר־vai.yo.mer-H559unto him, Thy nameשִׁמְךָ֣shim.KhaH8034isJacobיַעֲקֹ֑בya.'a.KoH3290:thy nameשִׁמְךָ֙shim.KhaH8034shall not be calledיִקָּרֵא֩yi.ka.Re'H7121any more Jacobיַעֲקֹ֗בya.'a.KoH3290,but Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478shall be thy nameשְׁמֶ֔ךָshe.Me.khaH8034:and he calledוַיִּקְרָ֥אvai.yik.Ra'H7121his nameשְׁמ֖וֹshe.MoH8034Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

11And Godאֱלֹהִ֜ים'E.lo.HimH430saidוַיֹּאמֶר֩vai.yo.MerH559unto him, I amGodאֵ֤ל'elH410Almightyשַׁדַּי֙sha.DaiH7706:be fruitfulפְּרֵ֣הpe.RehH6509and multiplyוּרְבֵ֔הu.re.VehH7235;a nationגּ֛וֹיGoyH1471and a companyוּקְהַ֥לu.ke.HalH6951of nationsגּוֹיִ֖םgo.YimH1471shall be of thee, and kingsוּמְלָכִ֖יםu.me.la.KhimH4428shall comeיֵצֵֽאוּ׃ye.Tze.'uH3318out of thy loinsמֵחֲלָצֶ֥יךָme.cha.la.Tzei.khaH2504;

12And the landהָאָ֗רֶץha.'A.retzH776which I gaveנָתַ֛תִּיna.Ta.tiH5414Abrahamלְאַבְרָהָ֥םle.'av.ra.HamH85and Isaacוּלְיִצְחָ֖קu.le.yitz.ChakH3327,to thee I will give itאֶתְּנֶ֑נָּה'et.te.Ne.nahH5414,and to thy seedוּֽלְזַרְעֲךָ֥u.le.zar.'a.KhaH2233after theeאַחֲרֶ֖יךָ'a.cha.Rei.khaH310will I giveאֶתֵּ֥ן'e.TenH5414the landהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.

13And Godאֱלֹהִ֑ים'E.lo.HimH430went upוַיַּ֥עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927from him in the placeבַּמָּק֖וֹםba.ma.KomH4725where he talkedדִּבֶּ֥רdi.BerH1696with him.

14And Jacobיַעֲקֹ֜בya.'a.KoH3290set upוַיַּצֵּ֨בvai.ya.TzevH5324a pillarמַצֵּבָ֗הma.tze.VahH4676in the placeבַּמָּק֛וֹםba.ma.KomH4725where he talkedדִּבֶּ֥רdi.BerH1696with him, evena pillarמַצֶּ֣בֶתma.Tze.vetH4678of stoneאָ֑בֶן'A.venH68:and he pouredוַיַּסֵּ֤ךְvai.ya.SekhH5258a drink offeringנֶ֔סֶךְNe.sekhH5262thereon, and he pouredוַיִּצֹ֥קvai.yi.TzokH3332oilשָֽׁמֶן׃Sha.menH8081thereon.

15And Jacobיַעֲקֹ֜בya.'a.KoH3290calledוַיִּקְרָ֨אvai.yik.Ra'H7121the nameשֵׁ֣םshemH8034of the placeהַמָּק֗וֹםha.ma.KomH4725where Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430spakeדִּבֶּ֨רdi.BerH1696with him, Beth–elH1008.
