1And it came to passוַיְהִי֙vay.HiH1961,that when Isaacיִצְחָ֔קyitz.ChakH3327was oldזָקֵ֣ןza.KenH2204,and his eyesעֵינָ֖יו'ei.NavH5869were dimוַתִּכְהֶ֥יןָva.tikh.Hei.naH3543,so that he could not seeמֵרְאֹ֑תme.re.'OtH7200,he calledוַיִּקְרָ֞אvai.yik.Ra'H7121Esauעֵשָׂ֣ו׀'e.SavH6215his eldestהַגָּדֹ֗לha.ga.DolH1419sonבְּנ֣וֹbe.NoH1121,and saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, My sonבְּנִ֔יbe.NiH1121:and he saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, Behold, here am I.

2And he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Behold now, I am oldזָקַ֑נְתִּיza.Kan.tiH2204,I knowיָדַ֖עְתִּיya.Da'.tiH3045not the dayי֥וֹםYomH3117of my deathמוֹתִֽי׃mo.TiH4194:

3Now therefore takeשָׂא־sa'-H5375,I pray thee, thy weaponsכֵלֶ֔יךָkhe.Lei.khaH3627,thy quiverתֶּלְיְךָ֖tel.ye.KhaH8522and thy bowוְקַשְׁתֶּ֑ךָve.kash.Te.chaH7198,and go outוְצֵא֙ve.Tze'H3318to the fieldהַשָּׂדֶ֔הha.sa.DehH7704,and takeוְצ֥וּדָהve.Tzu.dahH6679me somevenisonצָֽיִד׃tzeidH6720 H6718;

4And makeוַעֲשֵׂה־va.'a.seh-H6213me savoury meatמַטְעַמִּ֜יםmat.'a.MimH4303,such asכַּאֲשֶׁ֥רka.'a.SherH834I loveאָהַ֛בְתִּי'a.Hav.tiH157,and bringוְהָבִ֥יאָהve.ha.Vi.'ahH935itto me, that I may eatוְאֹכֵ֑לָהve.'o.Khe.lahH398;that my soulנַפְשִׁ֖יnaf.ShiH5315may blessתְּבָרֶכְךָ֥te.va.rekh.KhaH1288thee beforeבְּטֶ֥רֶםbe.Te.remH2962I dieאָמֽוּת׃'a.MutH4191.

5And Rebekahוְרִבְקָ֣הve.riv.KahH7259heardשֹׁמַ֔עַתsho.Ma.'atH8085when Isaacיִצְחָ֔קyitz.ChakH3327spakeבְּדַבֵּ֣רbe.da.BerH1696to Esauעֵשָׂ֖ו'e.SavH6215his sonבְּנ֑וֹbe.NoH1121.And Esauעֵשָׂו֙'e.SavH6215wentH3212to the fieldהַשָּׂדֶ֔הha.sa.DehH7704to huntלָצ֥וּדla.TzudH6679forvenisonצַ֖יִדTza.yidH6718, andto bringלְהָבִֽיא׃le.ha.Vi'H935it.

6And Rebekahוְרִבְקָה֙ve.riv.KahH7259spakeאָֽמְרָ֔ה'a.me.RahH559unto Jacobיַעֲקֹ֥בya.'a.KoH3290her sonבְּנָ֖הּbe.NahH1121,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559,Behold, I heardשָׁמַ֙עְתִּי֙sha.Ma'.tiH8085thy fatherאָבִ֔יךָ'a.Vi.khaH1speakמְדַבֵּ֛רme.da.BerH1696unto Esauעֵשָׂ֥ו'e.SavH6215thy brotherאָחִ֖יךָ'a.Chi.khaH251,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

7Bringהָבִ֨יאָהha.Vi.'ahH935me venisonצַ֛יִדTza.yidH6718,and makeוַעֲשֵׂה־va.'a.seh-H6213me savoury meatמַטְעַמִּ֖יםmat.'a.MimH4303,that I may eatוְאֹכֵ֑לָהve.'o.Khe.lahH398,and blessוַאֲבָרֶכְכָ֛הva.'a.va.rekh.KhahH1288thee beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440my deathמוֹתִֽי׃mo.TiH4194.

8Now therefore, my sonבְנִ֖יve.NiH1121,obeyשְׁמַ֣עshe.Ma'H8085my voiceבְּקֹלִ֑יbe.ko.LiH6963according to that whichלַאֲשֶׁ֥רla.'a.SherH834I commandמְצַוָּ֥הme.tza.VahH6680thee.

9GoH3212now to the flockהַצֹּ֔אןha.TzonH6629,and fetchוְקַֽח־ve.kach-H3947me from thence twoשְׁנֵ֛יshe.NeiH8147goodטֹבִ֑יםto.VimH2896kidsגְּדָיֵ֥יge.da.YeiH1423of the goatsעִזִּ֖ים'i.ZimH5795;and I will makeוְאֶֽעֱשֶׂ֨הve.'e.'e.SehH6213them savoury meatמַטְעַמִּ֛יםmat.'a.MimH4303for thy fatherלְאָבִ֖יךָle.'a.Vi.khaH1,such as he lovethאָהֵֽב׃'a.HevH157:

10And thou shalt bringוְהֵבֵאתָ֥ve.he.ve.TaH935itto thy fatherלְאָבִ֖יךָle.'a.Vi.khaH1,that he may eatוְאָכָ֑לve.'a.KhalH398,and thatאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834he may blessיְבָרֶכְךָ֖ye.va.rekh.KhaH1288thee beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440his deathמוֹתֽוֹ׃mo.ToH4194.

11And Jacobיַעֲקֹ֔בya.'a.KoH3290saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Rebekahרִבְקָ֖הriv.KahH7259his motherאִמּ֑וֹ'i.MoH517,Behold, Esauעֵשָׂ֤ו'e.SavH6215my brotherאָחִי֙'a.ChiH251isa hairyשָׂעִ֔רsa.'IrH8163manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376, and I ama smoothחָלָֽק׃cha.LakH2509manאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376:

12My fatherאָבִ֔י'a.ViH1peradventure will feelיְמֻשֵּׁ֙נִי֙ye.mu.She.niH4959me, and I shall seemבְעֵינָ֖יוve.'ei.NavH5869to him as a deceiverכִּמְתַעְתֵּ֑עַkim.ta'.Te.a'H8591;and I shall bringוְהֵבֵאתִ֥יve.he.ve.TiH935a curseקְלָלָ֖הke.la.LahH7045upon me, and not a blessingבְרָכָֽה׃ve.ra.KhahH1293.

13And his motherאִמּ֔וֹ'i.MoH517saidוַתֹּ֤אמֶרva.To.merH559unto him, Upon me bethy curseקִלְלָתְךָ֖ki.la.te.ChaH7045,my sonבְּנִ֑יbe.NiH1121:only obeyשְׁמַ֥עshe.Ma'H8085my voiceבְּקֹלִ֖יbe.ko.LiH6963,and goH3212fetchקַֽח־kach-H3947me them.

14And he wentH3212,and fetchedוַיִּקַּ֔חvai.yi.KachH3947,and broughtוַיָּבֵ֖אvai.ya.Ve'H935themto his motherלְאִמּ֑וֹle.'i.MoH517:and his motherאִמּוֹ֙'i.MoH517madeוַתַּ֤עַשׂva.Ta.'asH6213savoury meatמַטְעַמִּ֔יםmat.'a.MimH4303,such as his fatherאָבִֽיו׃'a.VivH1lovedאָהֵ֥ב'a.HevH157.

15And Rebekahרִ֠בְקָהRiv.kahH7259tookוַתִּקַּ֣חva.ti.KachH3947goodlyהַחֲמֻדֹ֔תha.cha.mu.DotH2532raimentבִּגְדֵ֨יbig.DeiH899of her eldestהַגָּדֹל֙ha.ga.DolH1419sonבְּנָ֤הּbe.NahH1121Esauעֵשָׂ֜ו'e.SavH6215, which werewith her in the houseבַּבָּ֑יִתba.Ba.yitH1004,and put them uponוַתַּלְבֵּ֥שׁva.tal.BeshH3847Jacobיַעֲקֹ֖בya.'a.KoH3290her youngerהַקָּטָֽן׃ha.ka.TanH6996sonבְּנָ֥הּbe.NahH1121:

16And she putהִלְבִּ֖ישָׁהhil.Bi.shahH3847the skinsעֹרֹת֙'o.RotH5785of the kidsגְּדָיֵ֣יge.da.YeiH1423of the goatsהָֽעִזִּ֔יםha.'i.ZimH5795upon his handsיָדָ֑יוya.DavH3027,and upon the smoothחֶלְקַ֥תchel.KatH2513of his neckצַוָּארָֽיו׃tza.va.RavH6677:

17And she gaveוַתִּתֵּ֧ןva.ti.TenH5414the savoury meatהַמַּטְעַמִּ֛יםha.mat.'a.MimH4303and the breadהַלֶּ֖חֶםha.Le.chemH3899,which she had preparedעָשָׂ֑תָה'a.Sa.tahH6213,into the handבְּיַ֖דbe.YadH3027of her sonבְּנָֽהּ׃be.NahH1121Jacobיַעֲקֹ֥בya.'a.KoH3290.

18And he cameוַיָּבֹ֥אvai.ya.Vo'H935unto his fatherאָבִ֖יו'a.VivH1,and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,My fatherאָבִ֑י'a.ViH1:and he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, Here am I; who artthou, my sonבְּנִֽי׃be.NiH1121?

19And Jacobיַעֲקֹ֜בya.'a.KoH3290saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto his fatherאָבִ֗יו'a.VivH1, I amEsauעֵשָׂ֣ו'e.SavH6215thy firstbornבְּכֹרֶ֔ךָbe.kho.Rekh.khaH1060;I have doneעָשִׂ֕יתִי'a.Si.tiH6213according as thou badestדִּבַּ֖רְתָּdi.Bar.taH1696me: ariseקֽוּם־kum-H6965,I pray thee, sitשְׁבָ֗הshe.VahH3427and eatוְאָכְלָה֙ve.'a.khe.LahH398of my venisonמִצֵּידִ֔יmi.tzei.DiH6718,that thy soulנַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃naf.She.khaH5315may blessתְּבָרֲכַ֥נִּיte.va.ra.Kha.niH1288me.

20And Isaacיִצְחָק֙yitz.ChakH3327saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto his sonבְּנ֔וֹbe.NoH1121, How is itthat thou hast foundלִמְצֹ֖אlim.Tzo'H4672itso quicklyמִהַ֥רְתָּmi.Har.taH4116,my sonבְּנִ֑יbe.NiH1121?And he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Because the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068thy Godאֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430broughtהִקְרָ֛הhik.RahH7136itto meלְפָנָֽי׃le.fa.NaiH6440.

21And Isaacיִצְחָק֙yitz.ChakH3327saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto Jacobיַעֲקֹ֔בya.'a.KoH3290,Come nearגְּשָׁה־ge.shah-H5066,I pray thee, that I may feelוַאֲמֻֽשְׁךָ֖va.'a.mush.KhaH4184thee, my sonבְּנִ֑יbe.NiH1121, whether thou bemy veryזֶ֛הzehH2088sonבְּנִ֥יbe.NiH1121Esauעֵשָׂ֖ו'e.SavH6215or not.

22And Jacobיַעֲקֹ֛בya.'a.KoH3290went nearוַיִּגַּ֧שׁvai.yi.GashH5066unto Isaacיִצְחָ֥קyitz.ChakH3327his fatherאָבִ֖יו'a.VivH1;and he feltוַיְמֻשֵּׁ֑הוּvay.mu.She.huH4959him, and saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,The voiceהַקֹּל֙ha.KolH6963isJacob’sיַעֲקֹ֔בya.'a.KoH3290voiceק֣וֹלKolH6963,but the handsוְהַיָּדַ֖יִםve.hai.ya.Da.yimH3027arethe handsיְדֵ֥יye.DeiH3027of Esauעֵשָֽׂו׃'e.SavH6215.

23And he discernedהִכִּיר֔וֹhi.ki.RoH5234him not, because his handsיָדָ֗יוya.DavH3027were hairyשְׂעִרֹ֑תse.'i.RotH8163,as his brotherאָחִ֖יו'a.ChivH251Esau’sעֵשָׂ֥ו'e.SavH6215handsכִּידֵ֛יki.DeiH3027:so he blessedוַֽיְבָרְכֵֽהוּ׃Vay.va.re.Khe.huH1288him.

24And he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, Artthou my very sonבְּנִ֣יbe.NiH1121Esauעֵשָׂ֑ו'e.SavH6215?And he saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, I am.

25And he saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, Bring itnearהַגִּ֤שָׁהha.Gi.shahH5066to me, and I will eatוְאֹֽכְלָה֙ve.'o.khe.LahH398of my son’sבְּנִ֔יbe.NiH1121venisonמִצֵּ֣ידmi.TzeidH6718,that my soulנַפְשִׁ֑יnaf.ShiH5315may blessתְּבָֽרֶכְךָ֖te.va.rekh.KhaH1288thee. And he brought itnearוַיַּגֶּשׁ־vai.ya.gesh-H5066to him, and he did eatוַיֹּאכַ֔לvai.yo.KhalH398:and he broughtוַיָּ֧בֵאvai.Ya.ve'H935him wineיַ֖יִןYa.yinH3196,and he drankוַיֵּֽשְׁתְּ׃vai.Ye.shetH8354.

26And his fatherאָבִ֑יו'a.VivH1Isaacיִצְחָ֣קyitz.ChakH3327saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, Come nearגְּשָׁה־ge.shah-H5066now, and kissוּשְׁקָה־u.she.kah-H5401me, my sonבְּנִֽי׃be.NiH1121.

27And he came nearוַיִּגַּשׁ֙vai.yi.GashH5066,and kissedוַיִּשַּׁק־vai.yi.shak-H5401him: and he smelledוַיָּ֛רַחvai.Ya.rachH7306the smellרֵ֥יחַRei.achH7381of his raimentבְּגָדָ֖יוbe.ga.DavH899,and blessedוַֽיְבָרֲכֵ֑הוּvay.va.ra.Khe.huH1288him, and saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Seeרְאֵה֙re.'EhH7200,the smellרֵ֣יחַRei.achH7381of my sonבְּנִ֔יbe.NiH1121isas the smellכְּרֵ֣יחַke.Rei.achH7381of a fieldשָׂדֶ֔הsa.DehH7704which the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068hath blessedבֵּרֲכ֖וֹbe.ra.KhoH1288:

28Therefore Godהָאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430giveוְיִֽתֶּן־ve.yi.ten-H5414thee of the dewמִטַּל֙mi.TalH2919of heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064,and the fatnessוּמִשְׁמַנֵּ֖יu.mish.ma.NeiH4924of the earthהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776,and plentyוְרֹ֥בve.RoH7230of cornדָּגָ֖ןda.GanH1715and wineוְתִירֹֽשׁ׃ve.ti.RoshH8492:

29Let peopleעַמִּ֗ים'a.MimH5971serveיַֽעַבְד֣וּךָya.'av.Du.khaH5647thee, and nationsלְאֻמִּ֔יםle.'u.MimH3816bow downוְיִֽשְׁתַּחֲו֤וּve.yish.ta.chuH7812to thee: beהֱוֵ֤הhe.VehH1933lordגְבִיר֙ge.VirH1376over thy brethrenלְאַחֶ֔יךָle.'a.Chei.khaH251,and let thy mother’sאִמֶּ֑ךָ'i.Me.khaH517sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121bow downוְיִשְׁתַּחֲוּ֥וּve.yish.ta.cha.VuH7812to thee: cursedאֹרְרֶ֣יךָ'o.re.Rei.khaH779beevery one that cursethאָר֔וּר'a.RurH779thee, and blessedוּֽמְבָרֲכֶ֖יךָu.me.va.ra.Khei.khaH1288behe that blessethבָּרֽוּךְ׃ba.RukhH1288thee.

30And it came to pass, as soon as Isaacיִצְחָק֮yitz.ChakH3327had made an endכִּלָּ֣הki.LahH3615of blessingלְבָרֵ֣ךְle.va.RekhH1288Jacobיַעֲקֹב֒ya.'a.KoH3290,and Jacobיַעֲקֹ֔בya.'a.KoH3290was yetאַ֣ךְ'akhH389scarceיָצֹ֤אya.Tzo'H3318gone outיָצָא֙ya.Tza'H3318from the presenceפְּנֵ֖יpe.NeiH6440of Isaacיִצְחָ֣קyitz.ChakH3327his fatherאָבִ֑יו'a.VivH1,that Esauוְעֵשָׂ֣וve.'e.SavH6215his brotherאָחִ֔יו'a.ChivH251came inבָּ֖אba'H935from his huntingמִצֵּידֽוֹ׃mi.tzei.DoH6718.

31And he also had madeוַיַּ֤עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213savoury meatמַטְעַמִּ֔יםmat.'a.MimH4303,and brought itוַיָּבֵ֖אvai.ya.Ve'H935unto his fatherלְאָבִ֑יוle.'a.VivH1,and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto his fatherלְאָבִ֗יוle.'a.VivH1,Let my fatherאָבִי֙'a.ViH1ariseיָקֻ֤םya.KumH6965,and eatוְיֹאכַל֙ve.yo.KhalH398of his son’sבְּנ֔וֹbe.NoH1121venisonמִצֵּ֣ידmi.TzeidH6718,that thy soulנַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃naf.She.khaH5315may blessתְּבָרֲכַ֥נִּיte.va.ra.Kha.niH1288me.

32And Isaacיִצְחָ֥קyitz.ChakH3327his fatherאָבִ֖יו'a.VivH1saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, Who artthou? And he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, I amthy sonבִּנְךָ֥bin.KhaH1121,thy firstbornבְכֹֽרְךָ֖ve.kho.re.KhaH1060Esauעֵשָֽׂו׃'e.SavH6215.

33And Isaacיִצְחָ֣קyitz.ChakH3327trembledוַיֶּחֱרַ֨דvai.ye.che.RadH2729veryגְּדֹלָ֣הge.do.LahH1419exceedinglyחֲרָדָה֮ מְאֹד֒cha.ra.Dah me.'OdH2731 H3966,and saidוַיֹּ֡אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Who? whereאֵפ֡וֹא'e.Fo'H645ishe that hath takenהַצָּֽד־ha.tzad-H6679venisonצַיִד֩tza.YidH6718,and broughtוַיָּ֨בֵאvai.Ya.ve'H935itme, and I have eatenוָאֹכַ֥לva.'o.KhalH398of all before thou camestתָּב֖וֹאta.Vo'H935,and have blessedוָאֲבָרֲכֵ֑הוּva.'a.va.ra.Khe.huH1288him? yea, andhe shall be blessedבָּר֖וּךְba.RukhH1288.

34And when Esauעֵשָׂו֙'e.SavH6215heardכִּשְׁמֹ֤עַkish.Mo.a'H8085the wordsדִּבְרֵ֣יdiv.ReiH1697of his fatherאָבִ֔יו'a.VivH1,he criedוַיִּצְעַ֣קvai.yitz.'AkH6817with a greatגְּדֹלָ֥הge.do.LahH1419and exceedingמְאֹ֑דme.'OdH3966bitterוּמָרָ֖הu.ma.RahH4751cryצְעָקָ֔הtze.'a.KahH6818,and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto his fatherלְאָבִ֔יוle.'a.VivH1,Blessבָּרֲכֵ֥נִיba.ra.Khe.niH1288me, evenme also, O my fatherאָבִֽי׃'a.ViH1.

35And he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Thy brotherאָחִ֖יךָ'a.Chi.khaH251cameבָּ֥אba'H935with subtiltyבְּמִרְמָ֑הbe.mir.MahH4820,and hath taken awayוַיִּקַּ֖חvai.yi.KachH3947thy blessingבִּרְכָתֶֽךָ׃bir.kha.Te.khaH1293.

36And he saidוַיֹּ֡אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Is not he rightlyהֲכִי֩ha.KhiH3588namedקָרָ֨א שְׁמ֜וֹka.Ra' she.MoH8034 H7121Jacobיַעֲקֹ֗בya.'a.KoH3290?for he hath supplanted meוַֽיַּעְקְבֵ֙נִי֙vai.ya'.ke.Ve.niH6117theseזֶ֣הzehH2088two timesפַעֲמַ֔יִםfa.'a.Ma.yimH6471:he took awayלָקָ֔חla.KachH3947my birthrightבְּכֹרָתִ֣יbe.kho.ra.TiH1062;and, behold, now he hath taken awayלָקַ֣חla.KachH3947my blessingבִּרְכָתִ֑יbir.kha.TiH1293.And he saidוַיֹּאמַ֕רvai.yo.MarH559,Hast thou not reservedאָצַ֥לְתָּ'a.Tzal.taH680a blessingבְּרָכָֽה׃be.ra.KhahH1293for me?

37And Isaacיִצְחָ֜קyitz.ChakH3327answeredוַיַּ֨עַןvai.Ya.'anH6030and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto Esauלְעֵשָׂ֗וle.'e.SavH6215,Behold, I have madeשַׂמְתִּ֥יוsam.TivH7760him thy lordגְּבִ֞ירge.VirH1376,and all his brethrenאֶחָ֗יו'e.ChavH251have I givenנָתַ֤תִּיna.Ta.tiH5414to him for servantsלַעֲבָדִ֔יםla.'a.va.DimH5650;and with cornוְדָגָ֥ןve.da.GanH1715and wineוְתִירֹ֖שׁve.ti.RoshH8492have I sustainedסְמַכְתִּ֑יוse.makh.TivH5564him: and what shall I doאֶֽעֱשֶׂ֖ה'e.'e.SehH6213nowאֵפ֔וֹא'e.Fo'H645unto thee, my sonבְּנִֽי׃be.NiH1121?

38And Esauעֵשָׂ֜ו'e.SavH6215saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto his fatherאָבִ֗יו'a.VivH1,Hast thou but oneאַחַ֤ת'a.ChatH259blessingהַֽבְרָכָ֨הhav.ra.KhahH1293,my fatherאָבִ֔י'a.ViH1?blessבָּרֲכֵ֥נִיba.ra.Khe.niH1288me, evenme also, O my fatherאָבִ֑י'a.ViH1.And Esauעֵשָׂ֛ו'e.SavH6215lifted upוַיִּשָּׂ֥אvai.yi.Sa'H5375his voiceקֹל֖וֹko.LoH6963,and weptוַיֵּֽבְךְּ׃vai.Ye.vekH1058.
