Joshua 7:1-3
1The IsraelitesH1121, howeverH3478, actedH4603 unfaithfullyH4604 regarding the things devoted to destructionH2764.1 AchanH59122 sonH1121 of CarmiH3756, the sonH1121 of ZabdiH2067,3 the sonH1121 of ZerahH2226, of the tribeH4294 of JudahH3063, tookH3947 some ofH4480 what was set apartH2764. So the angerH639 of the LORDH3068 burnedH2734 against the IsraelitesH1121H3478.
2Meanwhile, JoshuaH3091 sentH7971 menH582 from JerichoH3405 to AiH5857, whichH834 is nearH5973 Beth-avenH1007 to the eastH6924 of BethelH1008, and told themH559H413, “Go upH5927 and spy outH7270 the landH776.” So the menH582 went upH5927 and spied outH7270 AiH5857.
3On returningH7725 toH413 JoshuaH3091, they reportedH559H413, “There is no needH408H5927 to send allH3605 the peopleH5971; twoH505 orH176 threeH7969 thousandH505 menH376 are enough to go upH5927 and attackH5221 AiH5857. SinceH3588 the people of AiH1992 are so fewH4592, you need notH408 wear outH3021 allH3605 our peopleH5971 thereH8033.”
