Joshua 17:1-12
1Now this wasH1961 the allotmentH1486 for the tribeH4294 of ManassehH4519H3588 as Joseph’sH3130 firstborn sonH1060, namely for MachirH4353 the firstbornH1060 of ManassehH4519 and fatherH1 of the GileaditesH1568, who had receivedH1961 GileadH1568 and BashanH1316 becauseH3588 Machir wasH1961 a manH376 of warH4421. 2So this allotment wasH1961 for the restH3498 of the descendantsH1121 of ManassehH4519—the clansH1121 of AbiezerH44,1 HelekH2507, AsrielH844H1121, ShechemH7928H1121, HepherH2660H1121, and ShemidaH8061. TheseH428 are the other maleH2145 descendantsH1121 of the clansH4940 of ManassehH4519 sonH1121 of JosephH3130.
3But ZelophehadH6765 sonH1121 of HepherH2660 (the sonH1121 of GileadH1568, the sonH1121 of MachirH4353, the sonH1121 of ManassehH4519) hadH1961 noH3808 sonsH1121 butH3588 onlyH518 daughtersH1323. TheseH428 are the namesH8034 of his daughtersH1323: MahlahH4244, NoahH5270, HoglahH2295, MilcahH4435, and TirzahH8656. 4They approachedH7126H6440 EleazarH499 the priestH3548H6440, JoshuaH3091 sonH1121 of NunH5126H6440, and the leadersH5387, and saidH559, “The LORDH3068 commandedH6680 MosesH4872 to giveH5414 us an inheritanceH5159 amongH8432 our brothersH251.”
So Joshua gaveH5414 them an inheritanceH5159 amongH8432 their father’sH1 brothersH251, in keeping withH413 the command ofH6310 the LORDH3068. 5Thus tenH6235 sharesH2256 fellH5307 to ManassehH4519, in addition toH905 the landH776 of GileadH1568 and BashanH1316 beyondH5676 the JordanH3383, 6becauseH3588 the daughtersH1323 of ManassehH4519 receivedH5157 an inheritanceH5159 amongH8432 his sonsH1121. And the landH776 of GileadH1568 belonged toH1961 the restH3498 of the sonsH1121 of ManassehH4519.
7Now the borderH1366 of ManassehH4519 wentH1961 from AsherH836 to MichmethathH4366 nearH5921H6440 ShechemH7927, thenH1980 southwardH413H3225 to includeH413 the inhabitantsH3427 of En-tappuahH5887. 8The regionH776 of TappuahH8599 belonged toH1961 ManassehH4519, but Tappuah itselfH8599, onH413 the borderH1366 of ManassehH4519, belonged toH1121 EphraimH669. 9From there the borderH1366 continuedH3381 southwardH5045 to the BrookH5158 of KanahH7071. There were citiesH5892H428 belonging to EphraimH669 amongH8432 the citiesH5892 of ManassehH4519, but the borderH1366 of ManassehH4519 was on the north sideH6828 of the brookH5158 and endedH1961H8444 at the SeaH3220.2 10Ephraim’sH669 territory was to the southH5045, and Manasseh’sH4519 wasH1961 to the northH6828, having the SeaH3220 as its borderH1366 and adjoiningH6293 AsherH836 on the northH6828 and IssacharH3485 on the eastH4217. 11Within IssacharH3485 and AsherH836, ManassehH4519 was assignedH1961 Beth-sheanH1052, IbleamH2991, DorH1756 (that isH7969, NaphathH5316), EndorH5874, TaanachH8590, and MegiddoH4023, each with their surrounding settlementsH1323.
12But the descendantsH1121 of ManassehH4519 were unableH3201H3808 to occupyH3423 theseH428 citiesH5892, because the CanaanitesH3669 were determinedH2974 to stayH3427 in thisH2063 landH776.
