3And when his mother’sאִמּ֜וֹ'i.MoH517brothersאֲחֵֽי־'a.chei-H251spokeוַיְדַבְּר֨וּvay.da.be.RuH1696allכָּל־kol-H3605theseהָאֵ֑לֶּהha.'E.lehH428wordsהַדְּבָרִ֖יםha.de.va.RimH1697about himעָלָ֗יו'a.LavH5921in the presenceבְּאָזְנֵי֙be.'a.ze.NeiH241of allכָּל־kol-H3605the leadersבַּעֲלֵ֣יba.'a.LeiH1167of Shechemשְׁכֶ֔םshe.KhemH7927אֵ֥ת'etH853,their heartsלִבָּם֙li.BamH3820were inclinedוַיֵּ֤טvai.YetH5186to followאַחֲרֵ֣י'a.cha.ReiH310Abimelechאֲבִימֶ֔לֶךְ'a.vi.Me.lekhH40,forכִּ֥יkiH3588they saidאָמְר֖וּ'a.me.RuH559, “Heהֽוּא׃Hu'H1931is our brotherאָחִ֥ינוּ'a.Chi.nuH251.”

4So they gaveוַיִּתְּנוּ־vai.yi.te.nu-H5414himseventyשִׁבְעִ֣יםshiv.'ImH7657shekelsof silverכֶּ֔סֶףKe.sefH3701from the templeמִבֵּ֖יתּmi.BeitH1004of Baal-berithH1170, with whichAbimelechאֲבִימֶ֗לֶךְ'a.vi.Me.lekhH40hiredוַיִּשְׂכֹּ֨רvai.yis.KorH7936some worthlessרֵיקִים֙rei.KimH7386and recklessוּפֹ֣חֲזִ֔יםu.Fo.cha.ZimH6348menאֲנָשִׁ֤ים'a.na.ShimH582to followוַיֵּלְכ֖וּvai.ye.le.KhuH1980himאַחֲרָֽיו׃'a.cha.RavH310.

5He wentוַיָּבֹ֤אvai.ya.Vo'H935to his father’sאָבִיו֙'a.VivH1houseבֵית־veit-H1004in Ophrahעָפְרָ֔תָה'a.fe.Ra.tahH6084,and onעַל־'al-H5921oneאֶחָ֑ת'e.ChatH259stoneאֶ֣בֶן'E.venH68murderedוַֽיַּהֲרֹ֞גvai.ya.ha.RogH2026אֶת־'et-H853his seventyשִׁבְּעִ֥ים אִ֖ישׁshiv.'Im 'ishH7657 H376brothersאֶחָ֧יו'e.ChavH251,the sonsבְּנֵֽי־be.nei-H1121of Jerubbaalיְרֻבַּ֛עַלye.ru.Ba.'alH3378.But Jothamיוֹתָ֧םyo.TamH3147,the youngestהַקָּטֹ֖ןha.ka.TonH6996sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jerubbaalיְרֻבַּ֛עַלye.ru.Ba.'alH3378,survivedוַיִּוָּתֵ֞רvai.yi.va.TerH3498,becauseכִּ֥יkiH3588he hid himselfנֶחְבָּֽא׃ סnech.Ba'H2244.

7When this was reportedוַיַּגִּ֣דוּvai.ya.Gi.duH5046to Jothamלְיוֹתָ֗םle.yo.TamH3147,he climbedוַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ וַֽיַּעֲמֹד֙vai.Ye.lekh vai.ya.'a.ModH1980 H5975to the topבְּרֹ֣אשׁbe.RoshH7218of Mountהַר־har-H2022Gerizimגְּרִזִ֔יםge.ri.ZimH1630,raisedוַיִּשָּׂ֥אvai.yi.Sa'H5375his voiceקוֹל֖וֹko.LoH6963,and cried outוַיִּקְרָ֑א וַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.yik.Ra' vai.Yo.merH7121 H559: “Listenשִׁמְע֤וּshim.'UH8085to meאֵלַי֙'e.LaiH413,O leadersבַּעֲלֵ֣יba.'a.LeiH1167of Shechemשְׁכֶ֔םshe.KhemH7927,and may Godאֱלֹהִֽים׃'E.lo.HimH430listenוְיִשְׁמַ֥עve.yish.Ma'H8085to youאֲלֵיכֶ֖ם'a.lei.KhemH413.

8One day the treesהָעֵצִ֔יםha.'e.TzimH6086set outH1980to anointלִמְשֹׁ֥חַlim.Sho.achH4886a kingמֶ֑לֶךְMe.lekhH4428for themselvesעֲלֵיהֶ֖ם'a.lei.HemH5921.They saidוַיֹּאמְר֥וּvai.yo.me.RuH559to the olive treeלַזַּ֖יִתla.Za.yitH2132, ‘Reignמָלְכָ֥הme.lo.khahH4427over usעָלֵֽינוּ׃'a.Lei.nuH5921.’

9But the olive treeהַזַּ֔יִתha.Za.yitH2132repliedוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, ‘Should I stop givingהֶחֳדַ֙לְתִּי֙he.cho.Dal.tiH2308אֶת־'et-H853my oilדִּשְׁנִ֔יdish.NiH1880thatאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834honorsיְכַבְּד֥וּye.kha.be.DuH3513both Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430and manוַאֲנָשִׁ֑יםva.'a.na.ShimH582,to holdוְהָ֣לַכְתִּ֔יve.Ha.lakh.TiH1980swayלָנ֖וּעַla.Nu.a'H5128overעַל־'al-H5921the treesהָעֵצִֽים׃ha.'e.TzimH6086?’

10Then the treesהָעֵצִ֖יםha.'e.TzimH6086saidוַיֹּאמְר֥וּvai.yo.me.RuH559to the fig treeלַתְּאֵנָ֑הla.te.'e.NahH8384, ‘Comeלְכִי־ אַ֖תְּle.khi- 'atH1980 H859and reignמָלְכִ֥יma.le.KhiH4427over usעָלֵֽינוּ׃'a.Lei.nuH5921.’

11But the fig treeהַתְּאֵנָ֔הha.te.'e.NahH8384repliedוַתֹּ֤אמֶרva.To.merH559, ‘Should I stop givingהֶחֳדַ֙לְתִּי֙he.cho.Dal.tiH2308אֶת־'et-H853my sweetnessמָתְקִ֔יma.te.KiH4987וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853and my goodהַטּוֹבָ֑הha.to.VahH2896fruitתְּנוּבָתִ֖יte.nu.va.TiH8570,to holdוְהָ֣לַכְתִּ֔יve.Ha.lakh.TiH1980swayלָנ֖וּעַla.Nu.a'H5128overעַל־'al-H5921the treesהָעֵצִֽים׃ha.'e.TzimH6086?’

12Then the treesהָעֵצִ֖יםha.'e.TzimH6086saidוַיֹּאמְר֥וּvai.yo.me.RuH559to the grapevineלַגָּ֑פֶןla.Ga.fenH1612, ‘Comeלְכִי־ אַ֖תְּle.khi- 'atH1980 H859and reignמָלְכִ֥יma.lo.khiH4427over usעָלֵֽינוּ׃'a.Lei.nuH5921.’

14Finally allכָל־khol-H3605the treesהָעֵצִ֖יםha.'e.TzimH6086saidוַיֹּאמְר֥וּvai.yo.me.RuH559toאֶל־'el-H413the thornbushהָאָטָ֑דha.'a.TadH329, ‘Comeלֵ֥ךְ אַתָּ֖הlekh 'a.TahH1980 H859and reignמְלָךְ־me.lokh-H4427over usעָלֵֽינוּ׃'a.Lei.nuH5921.’
