18And the LORDיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068אֶת־'et-H853drove outוַיְגָ֨רֶשׁvay.Ga.reshH1644before usמִפָּנֵ֑ינוּmi.pa.Nei.nuH6440allכָּל־kol-H3605the nationsהָעַמִּ֗יםha.'a.MimH5971וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853,including the Amoritesהָאֱמֹרִ֛יha.'e.mo.RiH567who livedיֹשֵׁ֥בyo.ShevH3427in the landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776.Weאֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙'a.Nach.nuH587tooגַּם־gam-H1571will serveנַעֲבֹ֣דna.'a.VodH5647אֶת־'et-H853the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,becauseכִּי־ki-H3588Heה֖וּאhu'H1931is our Godאֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ ס'e.lo.Hei.nuH430!”

19But Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413the peopleהָעָ֗םha.'AmH5971, “You are notלֹ֤אlo'H3808ableתֽוּכְלוּ֙tu.khe.LuH3201to serveלַעֲבֹ֣דla.'a.VodH5647אֶת־'et-H853the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,forכִּֽי־ki-H3588Heה֑וּאHu'H1931is a holyקְדֹשִׁ֖יםke.do.ShimH6918Godאֱלֹהִ֥ים'E.lo.HimH430;Heה֔וּאHu'H1931is a jealousקַנּ֣וֹאka.No'H7072Godאֵֽל־'el-H410;He will notלֹֽא־lo'-H3808forgiveיִשָּׂ֥אyi.Sa'H5375your rebellionלְפִשְׁעֲכֶ֖םle.fish.'a.KhemH6588or your sinsוּלְחַטֹּאותֵיכֶֽם׃u.le.cha.to.tei.KhemH2403.

20Ifכִּ֤יkiH3588you forsakeתַֽעַזְבוּ֙ta.'az.VuH5800אֶת־'et-H853the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068and serveוַעֲבַדְתֶּ֖םva.'a.vad.TemH5647foreignנֵכָ֑רne.KharH5236godsאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430,He will turnוְשָׁ֨בve.ShavH7725and bring disasterוְהֵרַ֤עve.he.Ra'H7489on youand consumeוְכִלָּ֣הve.khi.LahH3615youאֶתְכֶ֔ם'et.KhemH853,even afterאַחֲרֵ֖י'a.cha.ReiH310אֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834He has been goodהֵיטִ֥יבhei.TivH3190to you.”

21“Noלֹ֕א כִּ֥יlo' kiH3808 H3588אֶת־'et-H853!”repliedוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559the peopleהָעָ֖ם אֶל־ha.'Am 'el-H5971 H413יְהוֹשֻׁ֑עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091. “We will serveנַעֲבֹֽד׃na.'a.VodH5647the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068!”

22Then Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַ אֶל־ye.ho.Shu.a' 'el-H3091 H413toldוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559themהָעָ֗םha.'AmH5971, “Youאַתֶּם֙'a.TemH859are witnessesעֵדִ֤ים'e.DimH5707against yourselvesthatכִּֽי־ki-H3588youאַתֶּ֞ם'a.TemH859have chosenבְּחַרְתֶּ֥םbe.char.TemH977אֶת־'et-H853to serveלַעֲבֹ֣דla.'a.VodH5647אוֹת֑וֹ'o.ToH853the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068.” “We are witnessesעֵדִֽים׃'e.DimH5707!”they saidוַיֹּאמְר֖וּvai.yo.me.RuH559.

23“Now, thereforeוְעַתָּ֕הve.'a.TahH6258,” he said, “get rid ofהָסִ֛ירוּha.Si.ruH5493אֶת־'et-H853the foreignהַנֵּכָ֖רha.ne.KharH5236godsאֱלֹהֵ֥י'e.lo.HeiH430אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834among youבְּקִרְבְּכֶ֑םbe.kir.be.KhemH7130and inclineוְהַטּוּ֙ve.ha.TuH5186אֶת־'et-H853your heartsלְבַבְכֶ֔םle.vav.KhemH3824toאֶל־'el-H413the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֥י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.”

24So the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971saidוַיֹּאמְר֥וּvai.yo.me.RuH559toאֶל־'el-H413Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֑עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091אֶת־'et-H853, “We will serveנַעֲבֹ֔דna.'a.VodH5647the LORDיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068our Godאֱלֹהֵ֙ינוּ֙'e.lo.Hei.nuH430and obeyנִשְׁמָֽע׃nish.Ma'H8085His voiceוּבְקוֹל֖וֹu.ve.ko.LoH6963.”
