36Then the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428summonedוַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח וַיִּקְרָ֣אvai.yish.Lach vai.yik.Ra'H7971 H7121Shimeiלְשִׁמְעִ֔יle.shim.'IH8096and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Buildבְּֽנֵה־be.neh-H1129a houseבַ֙יִת֙va.yitH1004for yourselfin Jerusalemבִּיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םbi.Ru.sha.LimH3389and liveוְיָשַׁבְתָּ֖ve.ya.shav.TaH3427thereשָׁ֑םShamH8033,but do notוְלֹֽא־ve.lo'-H3808goתֵצֵ֥אte.Tze'H3318מִשָּׁ֖םmi.ShamH8033anywhere elseH575.

37וְהָיָ֣ה׀ve.ha.YahH1961On the dayבְּי֣וֹםbe.YomH3117you go outצֵאתְךָ֗tze.te.KhaH3318and crossוְעָֽבַרְתָּ֙ve.'a.var.TaH5674אֶת־'et-H853the Kidronקִדְר֔וֹןkid.RonH6939Valleyנַ֣חַלNa.chalH5158,know for sureH3045thatכִּ֣יkiH3588you will dieH4191;your bloodדָּמְךָ֖da.me.KhaH1818will beיִהְיֶ֥הyih.YehH1961on your own headבְרֹאשֶֽׁךָ׃ve.ro.She.khaH7218.”

38“The sentenceהַדָּבָ֔רha.da.VarH1697is fairט֣וֹבTovH2896,”Shimeiשִׁמְעִ֤יshim.'IH8096repliedוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559לַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙la.Me.lekhH4428. “Your servantעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ'av.De.khaH5650will doיַעֲשֶׂ֣הya.'a.SehH6213asכַּאֲשֶׁ֤רka.'a.SherH834my lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְ כֵּ֖ןha.Me.lekh kenH4428 H3651has spokenדִּבֶּר֙di.BerH1696.”And Shimeiשִׁמְעִ֛יshim.'IH8096livedוַיֵּ֧שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427in Jerusalemבִּירוּשָׁלִַ֖םbi.ru.sha.LimH3389for a longרַבִּֽים׃ סra.BimH7227timeיָמִ֥יםya.MimH3117.

39Afterמִקֵּץ֙mi.KetzH7093threeשָׁלֹ֣שׁsha.LoshH7969yearsשָׁנִ֔יםsha.NimH8141,howeverוַיְהִ֗יvay.HiH1961,twoשְׁנֵֽי־she.nei-H8147of Shimei’sלְשִׁמְעִ֔יle.shim.'IH8096slavesעֲבָדִים֙'a.va.DimH5650ran awayוַיִּבְרְח֤וּvai.yiv.re.ChuH1272toאֶל־'el-H413Achishאָכִ֥ישׁ'a.KhishH397sonבֶּֽן־ben-H1121of Maacahמַעֲכָ֖הma.'a.KhahH4601,kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Gathגַּ֑תGatH1661.And Shimeiלְשִׁמְעִי֙ לֵאמֹ֔רle.shim.'I le.MorH8096 H559was toldוַיַּגִּ֤ידוּvai.ya.Gi.duH5046, “Lookהִנֵּ֥הhi.NehH2009,your slavesעֲבָדֶ֖יךָ'a.va.Dei.khaH5650are in Gathבְּגַֽת׃be.GatH1661.”

40וַיָּ֣קָםvai.Ya.komH6965So Shimeiשִׁמְעִ֗יshim.'IH8096saddledוַֽיַּחֲבֹשׁ֙vai.ya.cha.VoshH2280אֶת־'et-H853his donkeyחֲמֹר֔וֹcha.mo.RoH2543and set outוַיֵּ֤לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980toאֶל־'el-H413Achishאָכִ֔ישׁ'a.KhishH397at Gathגַּ֙תָה֙ga.tahH1661in search ofלְבַקֵּ֖שׁle.va.KeshH1245אֶת־'et-H853his slavesעֲבָדָ֑יו'a.va.DavH5650שִׁמְעִ֔יshim.'IH8096וַיֵּ֣לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980,and he brought themעֲבָדָ֖יו'a.va.DavH5650backוַיָּבֵ֥אvai.ya.Ve'H935אֶת־'et-H853from Gathמִגַּֽת׃mi.GatH1661.

41When Solomonלִשְׁלֹמֹ֑הlish.lo.MohH8010was toldוַיֻּגַּ֖דvai.yu.GadH5046thatכִּי־ki-H3588Shimeiשִׁמְעִ֧יshim.'IH8096had goneהָלַ֨ךְha.LakhH1980from Jerusalemמִירוּשָׁלִַ֛םmi.ru.sha.LimH3389to Gathגַּ֖תgatH1661and had returnedוַיָּשֹֽׁב׃vai.ya.ShoH7725,

42the kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428summonedוַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח וַיִּקְרָ֣אvai.yish.Lach vai.yik.Ra'H7971 H7121Shimeiלְשִׁמְעִ֗יle.shim.'IH8096and saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to himאֵלָ֜יו'e.LavH413, “Did I notהֲל֧וֹאha.Lo'H3808make you swearהִשְׁבַּעְתִּ֣יךָhish.ba'.Ti.khaH7650by the LORDבַֽיהוָ֗הba.Yah.wehH3068and warnוָאָעִ֤דva.'a.'IdH5749youלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, ‘On the dayבְּי֣וֹםbe.YomH3117you leaveצֵאתְךָ֗tze.te.KhaH3318and goוְהָֽלַכְתָּ֙ve.ha.lakh.TaH1980elsewhereH575,know for sureH3045thatכִּ֣יkiH3588you will dieH4191’?And you toldוַתֹּ֧אמֶרva.To.merH559meאֵלַ֛י'e.LaiH413, ‘The sentenceהַדָּבָ֖רha.da.VarH1697is fairט֥וֹבTovH2896;I will complyשָׁמָֽעְתִּי׃sha.Ma.'e.tiH8085.’

43So whyוּמַדּ֕וּעַu.ma.Du.a'H4069have you notלֹ֣אlo'H3808keptשָׁמַ֔רְתָּsha.Mar.taH8104אֵ֖ת'etH853your oathשְׁבֻעַ֣תshe.vu.'AtH7621to the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068andוְאֶת־ve.'EtH853the commandהַמִּצְוָ֖הha.mitz.VahH4687thatאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834I gave youצִוִּ֥יתִי עָלֶֽיךָ׃tzi.Vi.ti 'a.Lei.khaH6680 H5921?”

44The kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְ אֶל־ שִׁמְעִ֗יha.Me.lekh 'el- shim.'IH4428 H413 H8096also saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Youאַתָּ֤ה'a.TahH859knowיָדַ֙עְתָּ֙ya.Da'.taH3045in your heartלְבָ֣בְךָ֔le.Va.ve.khaH3824אֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834אֵ֣ת'etH853allכָּל־kol-H3605the evilהָרָעָ֗הha.ra.'AhH7451thatיָדַע֙ אֲשֶׁ֥רya.Da' 'a.SherH834 H3045you didעָשִׂ֖יתָ'a.Si.taH6213to my fatherאָבִ֑י'a.ViH1Davidלְדָוִ֣דle.da.VidH1732.Therefore the LORDיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068אֶת־'et-H853will bringוְהֵשִׁ֧יבve.he.ShivH7725your evilרָעָתְךָ֖ra.'a.te.KhaH7451back upon your headבְּרֹאשֶֽׁךָ׃be.ro.She.khaH7218.

45But Kingוְהַמֶּ֥לֶךְve.ha.Me.lekhH4428Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֖הshe.lo.MohH8010will be blessedבָּר֑וּךְba.RukhH1288and David’sדָוִ֗דda.VidH1732throneוְכִסֵּ֣אve.khi.Se'H3678will remainיִהְיֶ֥הyih.YehH1961secureנָכ֛וֹןna.KhonH3559beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068foreverעַד־ עוֹלָֽם׃'ad- o.LamH5704 H5769.”

46Then the kingהַמֶּ֗לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428אֶת־'et-H853commandedוַיְצַ֣וvay.TzavH6680Benaiahבְּנָיָ֙הוּ֙be.na.Ya.huH1141sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jehoiadaיְה֣וֹיָדָ֔עye.Ho.ya.Da'H3077,and he went outוַיֵּצֵ֕אvai.ye.Tze'H3318and struck Shimei downוַיִּפְגַּע־vai.yif.ga'-H6293,and he diedוַיָּמֹ֑תvai.ya.MotH4191.Thus the kingdomוְהַמַּמְלָכָ֥הve.ha.mam.la.KhahH4467was firmly establishedנָכ֖וֹנָהna.Kho.nahH3559in the handבְּיַד־be.yad-H3027of Solomonשְׁלֹמֹֽה׃she.lo.MohH8010.
