11Now a certainאֶחָד֙'e.ChadH259oldזָקֵ֔ןza.KenH2205prophetוְנָבִ֤יאve.na.Vi'H5030was livingיֹשֵׁ֖בyo.ShevH3427in BethelH1008,and his sonsבְנ֡וֹve.NoH1121cameוַיָּב֣וֹאvai.ya.Vo'H935and toldוַיְסַפֶּר־vay.sa.per-H5608himאֶת־'et-H853allכָּל־kol-H3605the deedsהַמַּעֲשֶׂ֣הha.ma.'a.SehH4639thatאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834the manאִישׁ־'ish-H376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֨ים׀ha.'E.lo.HimH430had doneעָשָׂה֩'a.SahH6213that dayהַיּ֜וֹםhai.YomH3117in BethelH1008אֶת־'et-H853.They also toldוַֽיְסַפְּר֖וּםvay.sa.pe.RumH5608their fatherלַאֲבִיהֶֽם׃la.'a.vi.HemH1the wordsהַדְּבָרִים֙ha.de.va.RimH1697thatאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834the manhad spokenדִּבֶּ֣רdi.BerH1696toאֶל־'el-H413the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428.

12“Whichאֵֽי־ זֶ֥ה'ei- zehH335 H2088wayהַדֶּ֖רֶךְha.De.rekhH1870did he goהָלָ֑ךְha.LakhH1980?”their fatherאֲבִיהֶ֔ם'a.vi.HemH1askedוַיְדַבֵּ֤רvay.da.BerH1696אֲלֵהֶם֙'a.le.HemH413.And his sonsבָנָ֗יוva.NavH1121אֶת־'et-H853showed himוַיִּרְא֣וּvai.yir.'UH7200the wayהַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ha.De.rekhH1870אֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834takenהָלַךְ֙ha.laKhH1980by the manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834had comeבָּ֖אba'H935from Judahמִיהוּדָֽה׃mi.hu.DahH3063.

13So the prophet saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413his sonsבָּנָ֔יוba.NavH1121, “Saddleחִבְשׁוּ־chiv.shu-H2280the donkeyהַחֲמ֑וֹרha.cha.MorH2543for me.”Then they saddledוַיַּחְבְּשׁוּ־vai.yach.be.shu-H2280the donkeyהַחֲמ֔וֹרha.cha.MorH2543for him,and he mountedוַיִּרְכַּ֖בvai.yir.KavH7392itעָלָֽיו׃'a.LavH5921

14and wentוַיֵּ֗לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980afterאַֽחֲרֵי֙'a.cha.ReiH310the manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430.He found himוַיִּ֨מְצָאֵ֔הוּvai.Yim.tza.'E.huH4672sittingיֹשֵׁ֖בyo.ShevH3427underתַּ֣חַתTa.chatH8478an oak treeהָאֵלָ֑הha.'e.LahH424and askedוַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֗יוvai.Yo.mer 'e.LavH559 H413, “Are youהַאַתָּ֧הha.'a.TahH859the manאִישׁ־'ish-H376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֛יםha.'E.lo.HimH430whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834cameבָּ֥אתָBa.taH935from Judahמִֽיהוּדָ֖הmi.hu.DahH3063?” “Iאָֽנִי׃'A.niH589am,”he repliedוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559.

15So the prophet saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֵלָ֔יו'e.LavH413the man of God, “Comeלֵ֥ךְlekhH1980homeהַבָּ֑יְתָהha.Ba.ye.tahH1004with meאִתִּ֖י'i.TiH854and eatוֶאֱכֹ֖לve.'e.KholH398some breadלָֽחֶם׃La.chemH3899.”

16But the man repliedוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “I cannotלֹ֥א אוּכַ֛לlo' 'u.KhalH3808 H3201go homeלָשׁ֥וּב אִתָּ֖ךְ וְלָב֣וֹאla.Shuv 'i.Takh ve.la.Vo'H7725 H854 H935with youאִתָּ֑ךְ'i.TakhH854,and I will notוְלֹֽא־ve.lo'-H3808eatאֹ֣כַל'O.khalH398breadלֶ֗חֶם וְלֹֽא־Le.chem ve.lo'-H3899 H3808or drinkאֶשְׁתֶּ֤ה'esh.TehH8354waterמַ֔יִםMa.yimH4325with youאִתְּךָ֙'i.te.KhaH854in thisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088placeבַּמָּק֖וֹםba.ma.KomH4725.

17Forכִּֽי־ki-H3588Iאֵלַי֙'e.LaiH413have been toldדָבָ֤רda.VarH1697by the wordבִּדְבַ֣רbid.VarH1697of the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068: ‘You must notלֹֽא־lo'-H3808eatתֹאכַ֣לto.KhalH398breadלֶ֔חֶם וְלֹֽא־Le.chem ve.lo'-H3899 H3808or drinkתִשְׁתֶּ֥הtish.TehH8354waterמָ֑יִם לֹא־Ma.yim lo'-H4325 H3808thereשָׁ֖םshamH8033or returnתָשׁ֣וּב לָלֶ֔כֶתta.Shuv la.Le.khetH7725 H1980by the wayבַּדֶּ֖רֶךְba.De.rekhH1870אֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834you cameהָלַ֥כְתָּha.Lakh.taH1980.’”

18Then the prophet repliedוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Iאֲנִ֣י'a.NiH589tooגַּם־gam-H1571ama prophetנָבִיא֮na.Vi'H5030like youכָּמוֹךָ֒ka.mo.KhaH3644,and an angelוּמַלְאָ֡ךְu.mal.'AkhH4397spokeדִּבֶּ֣רdi.BerH1696to meאֵלַי֩'e.LaiH413by the wordבִּדְבַ֨רbid.VarH1697of the LORDיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068,sayingלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559, ‘Bring him backהֲשִׁבֵ֤הוּha.shi.Ve.huH7725with youאִתְּךָ֙'i.te.KhaH854toאֶל־'el-H413your houseבֵּיתֶ֔ךָbei.Te.khaH1004,so that he may eatוְיֹ֥אכַלve.Yo.khalH398breadלֶ֖חֶםLe.chemH3899and drinkוְיֵ֣שְׁתְּve.Ye.shetH8354waterמָ֑יִםMa.yimH4325.’”The old prophet was lyingכִּחֵ֖שׁki.CheshH3584to him,

19but the man of God went backוַיָּ֣שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725with himאִתּ֗וֹ'i.ToH854,ateוַיֹּ֥אכַלvai.Yo.khalH398breadלֶ֛חֶםLe.chemH3899in his houseבְּבֵית֖וֹbe.vei.ToH1004,and drankוַיֵּ֥שְׁתְּvai.Ye.shetH8354waterמָֽיִם׃Ma.yimH4325.

20While theyהֵ֥םhemH1992were sittingיֹשְׁבִ֖יםyo.she.VimH3427atאֶל־'el-H413the tableוַיְהִ֕י הַשֻּׁלְחָ֑ן פvay.Hi ha.shul.ChanH7979 H1961,the wordדְּבַר־de.var-H1697of the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068cameוַֽיְהִי֙vay.HiH1961toאֶל־'el-H413the prophetהַנָּבִ֖יאha.na.Vi'H5030whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834had brought him backהֱשִׁיבֽוֹ׃he.shi.VoH7725,

21and the prophet cried outוַיִּקְרָ֞אvai.yik.Ra'H7121toאֶל־'el-H413the manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֗יםha.'E.lo.HimH430whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834had comeבָּ֤אba'H935from Judahמִֽיהוּדָה֙mi.hu.DahH3063, “This is whatלֵאמֹ֔ר כֹּ֖הle.Mor kohH3541 H559the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559: ‘Becauseיַ֗עַן כִּ֤יYa.'an kiH3282 H3588you have defiedמָרִ֙יתָ֙ma.Ri.taH4784the wordפִּ֣יpiH6310of the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068and have notוְלֹ֤אve.Lo'H3808keptשָׁמַ֙רְתָּ֙sha.Mar.taH8104אֶת־'et-H853the commandmentהַמִּצְוָ֔הha.mitz.VahH4687thatאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834the LORDיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃'e.lo.Hei.khaH430gave youצִוְּךָ֖tzi.ve.KhaH6680,

22but you went backוַתָּ֗שָׁבva.Ta.shovH7725and ateוַתֹּ֤אכַלva.To.khalH398breadלֶ֙חֶם֙le.chemH3899and drankוַתֵּ֣שְׁתְּva.Te.shetH8354waterמַ֔יִםMa.yimH4325in the placeבַּמָּקוֹם֙ba.ma.kOmH4725whereאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834He toldדִּבֶּ֣רdi.BerH1696youאֵלֶ֔יךָ'e.Lei.khaH413notאַל־'al-H408to do soתֹּ֥אכַל לֶ֖חֶם וְאַל־ תֵּ֣שְׁתְּ מָ֑יִםTo.khal Le.chem ve.'al- Te.shet Ma.yimH398 H3899 H408 H8354 H4325,your bodyנִבְלָתְךָ֖niv.la.te.KhaH5038shall neverלֹֽא־lo'-H3808reachתָב֥וֹא אֶל־ta.Vo' 'el-H935 H413the tombקֶ֥בֶרKe.verH6913of your fathersאֲבֹתֶֽיךָ׃'a.vo.Tei.khaH1.’”
