29Duringוַֽיְהִי֙vay.HiH1961thatהַהִ֔יאha.Hi'H1931timeבָּעֵ֣תba.'EtH6256,the prophetהַנָּבִ֜יאha.na.Vi'H5030Ahijahאֲחִיָּה֩'a.chi.YahH281the Shiloniteהַשִּׁילֹנִ֨יha.shi.lo.NiH7888metוַיִּמְצָ֣אvai.yim.Tza'H4672Jeroboamאֹת֡וֹ'o.ToH853on the roadבַּדֶּ֗רֶךְba.De.rekhH1870asוְיָֽרָבְעָ֖םve.ya.ra.ve.'AmH3379hewas going outיָצָ֣אya.Tza'H3318of Jerusalemמִירוּשָׁלִָ֑םmi.ru.sha.LimH3389.Now Ahijahוְה֤וּאve.Hu'H1931had wrapped himselfמִתְכַּסֶּה֙mit.ka.SehH3680in a newחֲדָשָׁ֔הcha.da.ShahH2319cloakבְּשַׂלְמָ֣הbe.sal.MahH8008,and the twoוּשְׁנֵיהֶ֥םu.she.nei.HemH8147of them were aloneלְבַדָּ֖םle.va.DamH905in the open fieldבַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃ba.sa.DehH7704.

30And Ahijahאֲחִיָּ֔ה'a.chi.YahH281took holdוַיִּתְפֹּ֣שׂvai.yit.PosH8610of the newהַחֲדָשָׁ֖הha.cha.da.ShahH2319אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834cloakבַּשַּׂלְמָ֥הba.sal.MahH8008he was wearingעָלָ֑יו'a.LavH5921,tore itוַיִּ֨קְרָעֶ֔הָvai.Yik.ra.'E.haH7167into twelveשְׁנֵ֥ים עָשָׂ֖רshe.Neim 'a.SarH8147 H6240piecesקְרָעִֽים׃ke.ra.'ImH7168,

31and saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559to Jeroboamלְיָֽרָבְעָ֔םle.ya.ra.ve.'AmH3379, “Takeקַח־kach-H3947tenעֲשָׂרָ֣ה'a.sa.RahH6235piecesקְרָעִ֑יםke.ra.'ImH7168for yourself,forכִּ֣יkiH3588this is whatכֹה֩khohH3541the LORDיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478,saysאָמַ֨ר'a.MarH559: ‘Beholdהִנְנִ֨יhi.NiH2005,I will tearקֹרֵ֤עַko.Re.a'H7167אֶת־'et-H853the kingdomהַמַּמְלָכָה֙ha.mam.la.KhahH4467out of the handמִיַּ֣דmi.YadH3027of Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֔הshe.lo.MohH8010,and I will giveוְנָתַתִּ֣יve.na.ta.TiH5414youאֵ֖ת'etH853tenעֲשָׂרָ֥ה'a.sa.RahH6235tribesהַשְּׁבָטִֽים׃ha.she.va.TimH7626.

32But oneהָאֶחָ֖דha.'e.ChadH259tribeוְהַשֵּׁ֥בֶטve.ha.She.vetH7626will remainיִֽהְיֶה־yih.yeh-H1961for the sakeלְמַ֣עַן׀le.Ma.'anH4616of My servantעַבְדִּ֣י'av.DiH5650Davidדָוִ֗דda.VidH1732and for the sakeוּלְמַ֙עַן֙u.le.Ma.'anH4616of Jerusalemיְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םye.Ru.sha.LimH3389,the cityהָעִיר֙ha.'IrH5892אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834I have chosenבָּחַ֣רְתִּיba.Char.tiH977out of allמִכֹּ֖לmi.KolH3605the tribesשִׁבְטֵ֥יshiv.TeiH7626of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

33Forיַ֣עַן׀Ya.'anH3282they haveאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834forsaken Meעֲזָב֗וּנִי'a.za.Vu.niH5800to worshipוַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲווּ֮vai.yish.ta.cha.VuH7812Ashtorethלְעַשְׁתֹּרֶת֮le.'ash.to.RetH6253the goddessאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of the Sidoniansצִֽדֹנִין֒tzi.do.NinH6722,Chemoshלִכְמוֹשׁ֙likh.mo.VoshH3645the godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of the Moabitesמוֹאָ֔בmo.'AvH4124,and Milcomוּלְמִלְכֹּ֖םu.le.mil.KomH4445the godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of the Ammonitesבְנֵֽי־ עַמּ֑וֹןve.nei- a.MonH1121 H5983.They have notוְלֹֽא־ve.lo'-H3808walkedהָלְכ֣וּha.le.KhuH1980in My waysבִדְרָכַ֗יvid.ra.KhaiH1870,nor doneלַעֲשׂ֨וֹתla.'a.SotH6213what is rightהַיָּשָׁ֧רhai.ya.SharH3477in My eyesבְּעֵינַ֛יbe.'ei.NaiH5869,nor kept My statutesוְחֻקֹּתַ֥יve.chu.ko.TaiH2708and judgmentsוּמִשְׁפָּטַ֖יu.mish.pa.TaiH4941,as Solomon’s fatherאָבִֽיו׃'a.VivH1David didכְּדָוִ֥דke.da.VidH1732.

34Nevertheless, I will notוְלֹֽא־ve.lo'-H3808takeאֶקַּ֥ח'e.KachH3947אֶת־'et-H853the wholeכָּל־kol-H3605kingdomהַמַּמְלָכָ֖הha.mam.la.KhahH4467out of Solomon’s handמִיָּד֑וֹmi.ya.DoH3027,becauseכִּ֣י׀kiH3588I have made himאֲשִׁתֶ֗נּוּ'a.shi.Te.nuH7896rulerנָשִׂ֣יאna.Si'H5387allכֹּ֚לkolH3605the daysיְמֵ֣יye.MeiH3117of his lifeחַיָּ֔יוchai.YavH2416for the sakeלְמַ֨עַןle.Ma.'anH4616of Davidדָּוִ֤דda.VidH1732My servantעַבְדִּי֙'av.DiH5650,whomאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834I choseבָּחַ֣רְתִּיba.Char.tiH977אֹת֔וֹ'o.ToH853becauseאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834he keptשָׁמַ֖רsha.MarH8104My commandmentsמִצְוֹתַ֥יmitz.vo.TaiH4687and statutesוְחֻקֹּתָֽי׃ve.chu.ko.TaiH2708.

35But I will takeוְלָקַחְתִּ֥יve.la.kach.TiH3947tenעֲשֶׂ֥רֶת'a.Se.retH6235tribesהַשְּׁבָטִֽים׃ha.she.va.TimH7626of the kingdomהַמְּלוּכָ֖הha.me.lu.KhahH4410from the handמִיַּ֣דmi.YadH3027of his sonבְּנ֑וֹbe.NoH1121and give themוּנְתַתִּ֣יהָu.ne.ta.Ti.haH5414to youאֵ֖ת'etH853.

36I will giveאֶתֵּ֣ן'e.TenH5414oneאֶחָ֑ד'e.ChadH259tribeשֵֽׁבֶט־she.vet-H7626to his sonוְלִבְנ֖וֹve.liv.NoH1121,so thatלְמַ֣עַןle.Ma.'anH4616My servantעַ֠בְדִּי'Av.diH5650Davidלְדָֽוִיד־le.da.vid-H1732will alwaysכָּֽל־ הַיָּמִ֤ים׀kal- hai.ya.MimH3605 H3117haveהֱיֽוֹת־he.yot-H1961a lampנִ֣ירnirH5216before Meלְפָנַי֙le.fa.NaiH6440in Jerusalemבִּיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םbi.Ru.sha.LimH3389,the cityהָעִיר֙ha.'IrH5892whereאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834I choseבָּחַ֣רְתִּיba.Char.tiH977to putלָשׂ֥וּםla.SumH7760My Nameשְׁמִ֖יshe.MiH8034שָֽׁם׃ShamH8033.

37But as for youוְאֹתְךָ֣ve.'o.te.KhaH853,I will take youאֶקַּ֔ח'e.KachH3947,and you shall reignוּמָ֣לַכְתָּ֔u.Ma.lakh.taH4427over allבְּכֹ֥לbe.KholH3605thatאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834your heartנַפְשֶׁ֑ךָnaf.She.khaH5315desiresתְּאַוֶּ֖הte.'a.VehH183,and you will beוְהָיִ֥יתָve.ha.Yi.taH1961kingמֶּ֖לֶךְMe.lekhH4428overעַל־'al-H5921Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

38וְהָיָ֗הve.ha.YahH1961Ifאִם־'im-H518you listen toתִּשְׁמַע֮tish.Ma'H8085אֶת־'et-H853allכָּל־kol-H3605thatאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834I command youאֲצַוֶּךָ֒'a.tza.ve.KhaH6680,walkוְהָלַכְתָּ֣ve.ha.lakh.TaH1980in My waysבִדְרָכַ֗יvid.ra.KhaiH1870,and doוְעָשִׂ֨יתָve.'a.Si.taH6213what is rightהַיָּשָׁ֤רhai.ya.SharH3477in My sightבְּעֵינַי֙be.'ei.NaiH5869in order to keepלִשְׁמ֤וֹרlish.MorH8104My statutesחֻקּוֹתַי֙chu.ko.TaiH2708and commandmentsוּמִצְוֹתַ֔יu.mitz.vo.TaiH4687asכַּאֲשֶׁ֥רka.'a.SherH834My servantעַבְדִּ֑י'av.DiH5650Davidדָּוִ֣דda.VidH1732didעָשָׂ֖ה'a.SahH6213,then I will beוְהָיִ֣יתִיve.ha.Yi.tiH1961with youעִמָּ֗ךְ'i.MakhH5973.I will buildוּבָנִ֨יתִיu.va.Ni.tiH1129youa lastingנֶאֱמָן֙ne.'e.ManH539dynastyבַֽיִת־va.yit-H1004just asכַּאֲשֶׁ֣רka.'a.SherH834I builtבָּנִ֣יתִיba.Ni.tiH1129for Davidלְדָוִ֔דle.da.VidH1732,and I will giveוְנָתַתִּ֥יve.na.ta.TiH5414Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478to youאֶת־'et-H853.

39Becauseלְמַ֣עַןle.Ma.'anH4616of thisזֹ֑אתZotH2063,I will humbleוַֽאעַנֶּ֛הva.'a.NehH6031אֶת־'et-H853David’sדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732descendantsזֶ֥רַעZe.ra'H2233—butאַ֖ךְ'akhH389notלֹ֥אlo'H3808foreverכָל־ הַיָּמִֽים׃ סkhol- hai.ya.MimH3605 H3117.’”
