14So the LORDיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068sentוַיִּתֵּ֧ןvai.yi.TenH5414a plagueדֶּ֖בֶרDe.verH1698upon Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478,and seventyשִׁבְעִ֥יםshiv.'ImH7657thousandאֶ֖לֶף'E.lefH505menאִֽישׁ׃'IshH376of Israelמִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֔לmi.Yis.ra.'ElH3478fell deadוַיִּפֹּל֙vai.yi.PolH5307.

15Then Godהָאֱלֹהִ֨ים׀ha.'E.lo.HimH430sentוַיִּשְׁלַח֩vai.yish.LachH7971an angelמַלְאָ֥ךְ׀mal.'AkhH4397to destroyלְהַשְׁחִיתָהּ֒le.hash.chi.TahH7843Jerusalemלִֽירוּשָׁלִַם֮li.ru.sha.LimH3389,but as the angel was doing soוּכְהַשְׁחִ֗יתu.khe.hash.ChitH7843,the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saw itרָאָ֤הra.'AhH7200and relentedוַיִּנָּ֣חֶםvai.yi.Na.chemH5162fromעַל־'al-H5921the calamityהָֽרָעָ֔הha.ra.'AhH7451,and He saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the angelלַמַּלְאָ֤ךְla.mal.'AkhH4397who was destroying the peopleהַמַּשְׁחִית֙ha.mash.ChitH7843, “Enoughרַ֔בRavH7227!Withdrawהֶ֣רֶףHe.refH7503your handיָדֶ֑ךָya.De.khaH3027nowעַתָּ֖ה'a.TahH6258!”At that time the angelוּמַלְאַ֤ךְu.mal.'AkhH4397of the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068was standingעֹמֵ֔ד'o.MedH5975byעִם־'im-H5973the threshing floorגֹּ֖רֶןGo.renH1637of Ornanאָרְנָ֥ן'a.re.NanH771the Jebusiteהַיְבוּסִֽי׃ סhay.vu.SiH2983.

16When Davidדָוִ֜ידda.VidH1732אֶת־'et-H853lifted upוַיִּשָּׂ֨אvai.yi.Sa'H5375his eyesעֵינָ֗יו'ei.NavH5869and sawוַיַּ֞רְאvai.Yar'H7200אֶת־'et-H853the angelמַלְאַ֤ךְmal.'AkhH4397of the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068standingעֹמֵ֗ד'o.MedH5975betweenבֵּ֤יןbeinH996heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064andוּבֵ֣יןu.VeinH996earthהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ha.'A.retzH776,with a drawnשְׁלוּפָה֙she.lu.FahH8025swordוְחַרְבּ֤וֹve.char.BoH2719in his handבְּיָד֔וֹbe.ya.DoH3027stretched outנְטוּיָ֖הne.tu.YahH5186overעַל־'al-H5921Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָ֑םye.ru.sha.LimH3389,Davidדָּוִ֧ידda.VidH1732and the eldersוְהַזְּקֵנִ֛יםve.ha.ze.ke.NimH2205,clothedמְכֻסִּ֥יםme.khu.SimH3680in sackclothבַּשַּׂקִּ֖יםba.sa.KimH8242,fellוַיִּפֹּ֨לvai.yi.PolH5307facedownעַל־ פְּנֵיהֶֽם׃'al- pe.nei.HemH5921 H6440.

18Then the angelוּמַלְאַ֧ךְu.mal.'AkhH4397of the LORDיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068orderedאָמַ֥ר אֶל־'a.Mar 'el-H559 H413Gadגָּ֖דgadH1410to tellלֵאמֹ֣רle.MorH559Davidלְדָוִ֑יד כִּ֣י׀le.da.Vid kiH1732 H3588to go upיַעֲלֶ֣ה דָוִ֗ידya.'a.Leh da.VidH5927 H1732and buildלְהָקִ֤יםle.ha.KimH6965an altarמִזְבֵּ֙חַ֙miz.Be.achH4196to the LORDלַיהוָ֔הla.Yah.wehH3068on the threshing floorבְּגֹ֖רֶןbe.Go.renH1637of Ornanאָרְנָ֥ן'a.re.NanH771the Jebusiteהַיְבֻסִֽי׃hay.vu.SiH2983.

19So Davidדָּוִיד֙da.VidH1732went upוַיַּ֤עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927at the wordבִּדְבַר־bid.var-H1697that Gadגָּ֔דGadH1410אֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834had spokenדִּבֶּ֖רdi.BerH1696in the nameבְּשֵׁ֥םbe.ShemH8034of the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

20Now Ornanאָרְנָ֗ן'a.re.NanH771was threshingדָּ֥שׁdashH1758wheatחִטִּֽים׃chi.TimH2406when heוְאָרְנָ֖ןve.'a.re.NanH771turnedוַיָּ֣שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725and sawוַיַּרְא֙vai.yaR'H7200אֶת־'et-H853the angelהַמַּלְאָ֔ךְha.mal.'AkhH4397;and his fourוְאַרְבַּ֧עַתve.'ar.Ba.'atH702sonsבָּנָ֛יוba.NavH1121who were with himעִמּ֖וֹi.MoH5973hid themselvesמִֽתְחַבְּאִ֑יםmit.cha.be.'ImH2244.

22Then Davidדָּוִ֜ידda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Ornanאָרְנָ֗ן'a.re.NanH771, “Grantתְּנָה־te.nah-H5414methe siteמְק֣וֹםme.KomH4725of this threshing floorהַגֹּ֔רֶןha.Go.renH1637,that I may buildוְאֶבְנֶה־ve.'ev.neh-H1129an altarמִזְבֵּ֖חַmiz.Be.achH4196to the LORDלַיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068.Sell itתְּנֵ֣הוּte.Ne.huH5414to mefor the fullמָלֵא֙ma.Le'H4392priceבְּכֶ֤סֶףbe.Khe.sefH3701,so that the plagueהַמַּגֵּפָ֖הha.ma.ge.FahH4046uponמֵעַ֥לme.'AlH5921the peopleהָעָֽם׃ha.'AmH5971may be haltedוְתֵעָצַ֥רve.te.'a.TzarH6113.”

23Ornanאָרְנָ֤ן'a.re.NanH771saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Davidדָּוִיד֙da.VidH1732, “Takeקַֽח־kach-H3947it!May my lordאֲדֹנִ֥י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428doוְיַ֛עַשׂve.Ya.'asH6213whatever seems goodהַטּ֣וֹבha.TovH2896to himבְּעֵינָ֑יוbe.'ei.NavH5869.Lookרְאֵה֩re.'EhH7200,I will giveנָתַ֨תִּיna.Ta.tiH5414the oxenהַבָּקָ֜רha.ba.KarH1241for the burnt offeringsלָֽעֹל֗וֹתla.'o.LotH5930,the threshing sledgesוְהַמּוֹרִגִּ֧יםve.ham.mo.ri.GimH4173for the woodלָעֵצִ֛יםla.'e.TzimH6086,and the wheatוְהַחִטִּ֥יםve.ha.chi.TimH2406for the grain offeringלַמִּנְחָ֖הla.min.ChahH4503—I will giveנָתָֽתִּי׃na.Ta.tiH5414it allהַכֹּ֥לha.KolH3605.”

27Then the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068spokeוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the angelלַמַּלְאָ֔ךְla.mal.'AkhH4397,who put his swordחַרְבּ֖וֹchar.BoH2719backוַיָּ֥שֶׁבvai.Ya.shevH7725intoאֶל־'el-H413its sheathנְדָנָֽהּ׃ne.da.NahH5084.
