Proverbs 6
1My sonH1121, if thou art become suretyH6148 for thy neighborH7453, If thou hast stricken thy handsH3709 for a stranger;2Thou art snared with the wordsH561 of thy mouthH6310, Thou art takenH3920 with the wordsH561 of thy mouthH6310.3Do this now, my sonH1121, and deliverH5337 thyself, Seeing thou art comeH935 into the handH3709 of thy neighborH7453: GoH935, humble thyself, and importune thy neighborH7453;4GiveH5414 not sleepH8142 to thine eyesH5869, Nor slumberH8572 to thine eyelidsH6079;5DeliverH5337 thyself as a roe from the handH3027 of the hunter, And as a birdH6833 from the handH3027 of the fowlerH3353.6Go to the ant, thou sluggardH6102; ConsiderH7200 her waysH1870, and be wiseH2449:7Which having no chief, Overseer, or rulerH4910,8Provideth her breadH3899 in the summerH7019, And gathereth her foodH3899 in the harvestH7105.9How long wilt thou sleepH8142, O sluggardH6102? WhenH4970 wilt thou ariseH6965 out of thy sleepH8142?10Yeta littleH4592 sleepH8142, a littleH4592 slumberH8572, A littleH4592 foldingH2264 of the handsH3027 to sleepH8142:11So shall thy povertyH7389 comeH935 as a robber, And thy want as an armed manH376.12A worthlessH1100 personH376, a manH376 of iniquity, Is he that walketh with a perverse mouthH6310;13That winketh with his eyesH5869, that speaketh with his feetH7272, That maketh signs with his fingersH676;14In whose heartH3820 is perverseness, Who deviseth evilH7451 continually, Who soweth discord.15ThereforeH3651 shall his calamityH343 comeH935 suddenlyH6597; On a sudden shall he be brokenH7665, and that without remedy.16There are sixH8337 thingsH8441 which Jehovah hateth; Yea, sevenH7651 which are an abominationH8441 unto him:17HaughtyH7311 eyesH5869, a lyingH8267 tongueH3956, And handsH3027 that shedH8210 innocentH5355 bloodH1818;18A heartH3820 that deviseth wicked purposes, FeetH7272 that are swift in runningH7323 to mischief,19A false witnessH5707 that uttereth liesH8267, And he that soweth discord among brethren.20My sonH1121, keepH5341 the commandmentH4687 of thy fatherH1, And forsake not the lawH8451 of thy motherH517:21BindH7194 them continuallyH8548 upon thy heartH3820; TieH7194 them about thy neckH1621.22When thou walkest, it shall leadH5148 thee; When thou sleepest, it shall watchH8104 over thee; And when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.23For the commandmentH4687 is a lampH5216; and the lawH8451 is lightH216; And reproofs of instruction are the wayH1870 of lifeH2416:24To keepH8104 thee from the evilH7451 womanH802, From the flattery of the foreigner’s tongueH3956.25Lust not after her beautyH3308 in thy heartH3824; Neither let her takeH3947 thee with her eyelidsH6079.26For on account of a harlota manH376 is broughtto a piece of breadH3899; And the adulteress hunteth for the preciousH3368 lifeH5315.27Can a manH376 take fireH784 in his bosomH2436, And his clothesH899 not be burnedH8313?28Or can oneH376 walkH1980 upon hot coalsH1513, And his feetH7272 not be scorched?29So he that goeth in to his neighbor’sH7453 wifeH802; Whosoever toucheth her shall not be unpunishedH5352.30Men do not despiseH936 a thiefH1590, if he stealH1589 To satisfy himself when he is hungryH7456:31But if he be foundH4672, he shall restore sevenfoldH7659; He shall giveH5414 all the substance of his houseH1004.32He that committeth adulteryH5003 with a womanH802 is void of understanding: He doeth it who would destroyH7843 his ownH5315 soulH5315.33WoundsH5061 and dishonor shall he get; And his reproachH2781 shall not be wiped away.34For jealousyH7068 is the rageH2534 of a manH1397; And he will not spareH2550 in the dayH3117 of vengeanceH5359.35He will not regard any ransomH3724; Neither will he rest content, though thou givest manyH7235 giftsH7810.
