Revised Version 1895
Jeremiah 48:1-23
Of MoabH4124. ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478: WoeH1945 unto NeboH5015! for it is laid wasteH7703; KiriathaimH7156 is put to shame, it is takenH3920: Misgab is put to shame and broken downH3588.
The praiseH8416 of MoabH4124 is noH369 moreH5750; in HeshbonH2809 they have devisedH2803 evilH7451 againstH5921 herH5921, Come, and let usH5921 cutH3772 herH5921 offH3772 from beingH3772 a nationH1471. Thou also, O MadmenH4086, shalt be brought to silence; the swordH2719 shall pursueH310 thee.
The soundH6963 of a cryH6818 from HoronaimH2773, spoiling and greatH1419 destructionH7667!
MoabH4124 is destroyed; herH8085 littleH6810 onesH6810 have caused a cryH2201 to be heardH8085.
For by the ascentH4608 of LuhithH3872 with continualH1065 weepingH1065 shall they goH5927 upH5927; for in the goingH5927 downH3588 of HoronaimH2773 they have heardH8085 the distressH6862 of the cryH6818 of destructionH7667.
FleeH5127, saveH4422 your livesH5315, and be like the heath in the wildernessH4057.
For, becauseH3588 thou hast trustedH982 in thy worksH4639 and in thy treasuresH214, thou also shalt be takenH3920: and ChemoshH3645 shall goH3318 forthH3318 intoH3318 captivity, his priestsH3548 and his princesH8269 togetherH3162.
And the spoiler shall comeH935 uponH935 everyH3605 cityH5892, and noH3808 cityH5892 shall escapeH4422; the valleyH6010 also shall perishH6, and the plainH4334 shall be destroyedH8045; as the LORDH3068 hath spokenH559.
GiveH5414 wings unto MoabH4124, that sheH3588 may fly and getH3318 herH5414 awayH3318: and herH5414 citiesH5892 shall becomeH1961 a desolationH8047, withoutH369 anyH369 to dwellH3427 therein.
CursedH779 be he that doeth the workH4399 of the LORDH3068 negligently, and cursedH779 be he that keepeth backH4513 his swordH2719 from bloodH1818.
MoabH4124 hath been at easeH7599 from his youthH5271, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath notH3808 been emptied from vesselH3627 to vesselH3627, neitherH3808 hath he goneH1980 intoH413 captivity: therefore his tasteH2940 remaineth in him, and his scent is notH3808 changedH4171.
Therefore, beholdH2009, the daysH3117 comeH935, saith the LORDH3068, that I will sendH7971 unto him them that pour offH7971, and they shall pour him offH7971; and they shall empty his vesselsH3627, and break their bottles in pieces.
And MoabH4124 shall be ashamedH954 of ChemoshH3645, as the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 was ashamedH954 of Beth-el their confidenceH4009.
HowH349 sayH559 ye, WeH587 are mightyH1368 menH376, and valiantH2428 menH376 for the warH4421?
MoabH4124 is laid wasteH7703, and they are goneH5927 upH5927 intoH3381 herH3381 citiesH5892; and his chosen youngH970 menH970 are goneH5927 downH3381 to the slaughterH2874, saith the KingH4428, whoseH8034 nameH8034 is the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635.
The calamityH343 of MoabH4124 is nearH7138 to comeH935, and his affliction hasteth fast.
AllH3605 ye that are roundH5439 aboutH5439 him, bemoan him, and allH3605 ye that knowH3045 his nameH8034; sayH559, HowH349 is the strongH5797 staffH4294 brokenH7665, the beautifulH8597 rodH4294!
O thou daughterH1323 that dwellest in DibonH1769, comeH5927 downH3381 from thy gloryH3519, and sitH3427 in thirstH6772; for the spoiler of MoabH4124 is comeH5927 upH5927 againstH5927 thee, he hath destroyedH7843 thy strong holds.
O inhabitantH3427 of AroerH6177, standH5975 by the wayH1870, and espy: askH7592 him that fleeth, and herH413 that escapeth; sayH559, WhatH4100 hath been doneH1961?
MoabH4124 is put to shame; for it is broken downH3588: howlH3213 and cryH2199; tellH5046 ye it in ArnonH769, that MoabH4124 is laid wasteH7703.
And judgmentH4941 is comeH935 uponH5921 the plainH4334 countryH776; uponH5921 HolonH2473, and uponH5921 JahzahH3096, and uponH5921 MephaathH4158;
and uponH5921 DibonH1769, and uponH5921 NeboH5015, and uponH5921 Beth-diblathaimH1015;
and uponH5921 KiriathaimH7156, and uponH5921 Beth-gamulH1014, and uponH5921 Beth-meonH1010;
