2 Chronicles 26
Revised Version 1895
1And allH3605 the peopleH5971 of JudahH3063 tookH3947 UzziahH5818, who was sixteenH6240 yearsH8141 oldH1121, and madeH3605 him kingH4427 in the room of his fatherH1 AmaziahH558. 2He builtH1129 ElothH359, and restoredH7725 it to JudahH3063, afterH310 that the kingH4428 sleptH7901 with his fathersH1. 3SixteenH6240 yearsH8141 oldH1121 was UzziahH5818 when he began to reignH4427; and he reignedH4427 fiftyH2572 and twoH8147 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389: and his mother’sH517 nameH8034 was JechiliahH3203 of JerusalemH3389. 4And he didH6213 that whichH834 was rightH3477 in the eyesH5869 of the LORDH3068, according to allH3605 that his fatherH1 AmaziahH558 had doneH6213. 5And he set himselfH3117 to seekH1875 GodH430 in the daysH3117 of ZechariahH2148, who had understandingH995 in the visionH7200 of GodH430: and as longH3117 as he soughtH1875 the LORDH3068, GodH430 madeH1961 him to prosperH6743. 6And he wentH3318 forthH3318 and warred againstH3898 the PhilistinesH6430, and brake downH6555 the wallH2346 of GathH1661, and the wallH2346 of JabnehH2996, and the wallH2346 of AshdodH795; and he builtH1129 citiesH5892 in the country of AshdodH795, and among the PhilistinesH6430. 7And GodH430 helpedH5826 him againstH5921 the PhilistinesH6430, and againstH5921 the Arabians that dweltH3427 in Gur-baalH1485, and the MeunimH4586. 8And the AmmonitesH5984 gaveH5414 giftsH4503 to UzziahH5818: and his nameH8034 spreadH5414 abroad evenH5704 to the enteringH935 in of EgyptH4714; for he waxed exceeding strongH2388. 9Moreover UzziahH5818 builtH1129 towersH4026 in JerusalemH3389 at the cornerH6438 gateH8179, and at the valleyH1516 gateH8179, and at the turning of the wall, and fortifiedH1129 them. 10And he builtH1129 towersH4026 in the wildernessH4057, and hewedH2672 outH2672 manyH7227 cisternsH953, for he had muchH7227 cattleH4735; in the lowlandH8219 also, and in the plainH4334: and he had husbandmen and vinedressersH3755 in the mountainsH2022 and in the fruitful fieldsH127; for he lovedH157 husbandry. 11MoreoverH1961 UzziahH5818 had an armyH2428 of fighting menH8269, that wentH3318 outH3318 to warH4421 by bandsH1416, accordingH5921 to the numberH4557 of their reckoning, madeH6213 by JeielH3273 the scribeH5608 and MaaseiahH4641 the officerH8269, underH5921 the handH3027 of HananiahH2608, one of the king’sH4428 captainsH8269. 12The wholeH3605 numberH4557 of the headsH7218 of fathers’H1 houses, even the mightyH1368 menH1368 of valour, was twoH3967 thousandH505 and sixH8337 hundredH3967. 13And underH5921 their handH3027 was a trainedH6635 armyH2428, threeH7969 hundredH3967 thousandH505 and sevenH7651 thousandH505 and fiveH2568 hundredH3967, that madeH6213 warH4421 with mightyH2428 powerH3027, to helpH5826 the kingH4428 againstH5921 the enemyH341. 14And UzziahH5818 preparedH3559 for them, even for allH3605 the hostH6635, shieldsH4043, and spearsH7420, and helmetsH3553, and coats of mail, and bowsH7198, and stonesH68 for slinging. 15And he madeH6213 in JerusalemH3389 enginesH2810, inventedH4284 by cunning menH1419, to be on the towersH4026 and uponH5921 the battlements, to shootH3384 arrowsH2678 and greatH1419 stonesH68 withal. And his nameH8034 spreadH3318 farH5704 abroad; for he was marvelouslyH6381 helpedH5826, tillH5704 he was strongH2388. 16But when he was strongH2393, his heartH3820 was liftedH935 upH5704 soH935 that he did corruptlyH7843, and he trespassed againstH5921 the LORDH3068 his GodH430; for he wentH935 intoH413 the templeH1964 of the LORDH3068 to burnH6999 incenseH7004 uponH5921 the altarH4196 of incenseH7004. 17And AzariahH5838 the priestH3548 wentH935 in afterH310 him, and with him fourscore priestsH3548 of the LORDH3068, that were valiantH2428 menH1121: 18and they withstood UzziahH5818 the kingH4428, and saidH559 unto him, It pertaineth notH3808 unto thee, UzziahH5818, to burnH6999 incenseH6999 unto the LORDH3068, but to the priestsH3548 the sonsH1121 of AaronH175, that are consecratedH6942 to burnH6999 incenseH6999: goH3318 outH3318 of the sanctuaryH4720; for thou hast trespassed; neitherH3808 shall it be for thine honour from the LORDH3068 GodH430. 19Then UzziahH5818 was wroth; and he had a censerH4730 in his handH3027 to burnH6999 incenseH7004; and whileH5973 he was wroth with the priestsH3548, the leprosyH6883 brake forth in his foreheadH4696 beforeH6440 the priestsH3548 in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, besideH5921 the altarH4196 of incenseH7004. 20And AzariahH5838 the chiefH7218 priestH3548, and allH3605 the priestsH3548, lookedH6437 uponH413 him, and, beholdH2009, he was leprousH6879 in his foreheadH4696, and they thrust him outH3318 quicklyH1765 from thence; yeaH3588, himselfH1931 hasted also to goH3318 outH3318, becauseH3588 the LORDH3068 had smittenH5060 him. 21And UzziahH5818 the kingH4428 was a leperH6879 unto the dayH3117 of his deathH4194, and dweltH3427 in a several houseH1004, beingH1961 a leperH6879; for he was cutH1504 offH5921 from the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068: and JothamH3147 his sonH1121 was over the king’sH4428 houseH1004, judgingH8199 the peopleH5971 of the landH776. 22Now the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of UzziahH5818, firstH7223 and lastH314, did IsaiahH3470 the prophetH5030, the sonH1121 of AmozH531, writeH3789. 23SoH834 UzziahH5818 sleptH7901 with his fathersH1; and they buriedH6912 him with his fathersH1 in the fieldH7704 of burialH6900 whichH834 belonged to the kingsH4428; for they saidH559, He is a leperH6879: and JothamH3147 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his steadH8478.
