2 Chronicles 13
Revised Version 1895
1In the eighteenthH6240 yearH8141 of kingH4428 JeroboamH3379 began AbijahH29 to reignH4427 over JudahH3063. 2ThreeH7969 yearsH8141 reignedH4427 he in JerusalemH3389: and his mother’sH517 nameH8034 was MicaiahH4322 the daughterH1323 of UrielH222 of GibeahH1390. And there was warH4421 betweenH996 AbijahH29 and JeroboamH3379. 3And AbijahH29 joined battleH4421 with an armyH2428 of valiantH2428 menH376 of warH4421, evenH853 fourH702 hundredH3967 thousandH505 chosen menH376: and JeroboamH3379 set the battleH4421 in arrayH4421 againstH5973 him with eightH8083 hundredH3967 thousandH505 chosen menH376, who were mightyH1368 menH376 of valour. 4And AbijahH29 stoodH6965 upH6965 uponH5921 mountH2022 ZemaraimH6787, whichH834 is in the hillH2022 countryH2022 of EphraimH669, and saidH559, HearH8085 meH5921, O JeroboamH3379 and allH3605 IsraelH3478; 5Ought ye notH3808 to knowH3045 that the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, gaveH5414 the kingdomH4467 over IsraelH3478 to DavidH1732 for everH5769, evenH3588 to him and to his sonsH1121 by a covenantH1285 of saltH4417? 6Yet JeroboamH3379 the sonH1121 of NebatH5028, the servantH5650 of SolomonH8010 the sonH1121 of DavidH1732, roseH6965 upH6965, and rebelledH4775 againstH5921 his lordH113. 7And there were gatheredH6908 unto him vain menH376, sonsH1121 of Belial, which strengthenedH2388 themselvesH5921 againstH5921 RehoboamH7346 the sonH1121 of SolomonH8010, when RehoboamH7346 was youngH5288 and tender-hearted, and couldH376 notH3808 withstandH6440 them. 8And nowH6258 ye thinkH559 to withstandH6440 the kingdomH4467 of the LORDH3068 in the handH3027 of the sonsH1121 of DavidH1732; and ye be a greatH7227 multitudeH1995, and there are with youH859 the goldenH2091 calvesH5695 whichH834 JeroboamH3379 madeH6213 youH859 for godsH430. 9Have ye notH3808 drivenH5080 outH3605 the priestsH3548 of the LORDH3068, the sonsH1121 of AaronH175, and the LevitesH3881, and have madeH6213 youH3605 priestsH3548 afterH1961 the manner of the peoplesH5971 of otherH3605 landsH776? soH6213 that whosoever cometh to consecrate himselfH3027 with a youngH1121 bullock and sevenH7651 ramsH352, the sameH853 may be a priestH3548 of them that are noH3808 godsH430. 10But as for us, the LORDH3068 is our GodH430, and weH587 have notH3808 forsaken him; and weH587 have priestsH3548 ministeringH8334 unto the LORDH3068, the sonsH1121 of AaronH175, and the LevitesH3881 in their workH4399: 11and they burnH6999 unto the LORDH3068 everyH1242 morningH1242 and everyH1242 eveningH6153 burntH5930 offeringsH3068 and sweetH5561 incenseH7004: the shewbread also set they in order uponH5921 the pureH2889 tableH7979; and the candlestick of goldH2091 with the lampsH5216 thereof, to burnH6999 everyH1242 eveningH6153: for weH587 keepH8104 the chargeH4931 of the LORDH3068 our GodH430; but ye have forsaken him. 12And, beholdH2009, GodH430 is with usH5921 at our headH7218, and his priestsH3548 with the trumpetsH2689 of alarmH8643 to soundH7321 an alarmH8643 againstH5921 youH3588. O childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, fightH3898 ye notH3808 againstH5921 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of your fathersH1; for ye shall notH3808 prosperH6743. 13But JeroboamH3379 causedH1961 an ambushment to comeH935 aboutH1961 behindH310 them: soH1961 they were beforeH6440 JudahH3063, and the ambushment was behindH310 them. 14And when JudahH3063 lookedH6437 backH268, beholdH2009, the battleH4421 was beforeH6440 and behindH268 them: and they criedH6817 unto the LORDH3068, and the priestsH3548 soundedH2690 with the trumpetsH2689. 15Then the menH376 of JudahH3063 gaveH7321 a shoutH7321: and as the menH376 of JudahH3063 shoutedH7321, it cameH1961 to passH1961, that GodH430 smoteH5062 JeroboamH3379 and allH3605 IsraelH3478 beforeH6440 AbijahH29 and JudahH3063. 16And the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 fledH5127 beforeH6440 JudahH3063: and GodH430 deliveredH5414 them intoH3027 their handH3027. 17And AbijahH29 and his peopleH5971 slewH5221 them with a greatH7227 slaughterH4347: so there fellH5307 downH5221 slainH5221 of IsraelH3478 fiveH2568 hundredH3967 thousandH505 chosen menH376. 18Thus the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 were brought underH5921 at that time, and the childrenH1121 of JudahH3063 prevailedH553, becauseH3588 they reliedH8172 uponH5921 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of their fathersH1. 19And AbijahH29 pursuedH7291 afterH310 JeroboamH3379, and tookH3920 citiesH5892 from him, Beth-el with the townsH1323 thereof, and JeshanahH3466 with the townsH1323 thereof, and EphronH6085 with the townsH1323 thereof. 20NeitherH3808 didH3808 JeroboamH3379 recoverH6113 strengthH3581 againH5750 in the daysH3117 of AbijahH29: and the LORDH3068 smoteH5062 him, and he diedH4191. 21But AbijahH29 waxed mightyH2388, and tookH5375 unto himselfH2388 fourteenH6240 wivesH802, and begat twentyH6242 and twoH8147 sonsH1121, and sixteenH6240 daughtersH1323. 22And the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of AbijahH29, and his waysH1870, and his sayingsH1697, are writtenH3789 in the commentary of the prophetH5030 IddoH5714.
