Samuel 14:1-23

NowH1961 it fellH1961 uponH1961 a dayH3117, that JonathanH3129 the sonH1121 of SaulH7586 saidH559 unto the youngH5288 manH5288 that bare his armour, ComeH1961 and letH1961 usH413 goH1961 over to the Philistines’H6430 garrisonH4673, that is on yonder sideH5676. But he toldH5046 notH3808 his fatherH1.

And SaulH7586 abodeH3427 in the uttermost part of GibeahH1390 underH8478 the pomegranateH7416 treeH7416 whichH834 is in MigronH4051: and the peopleH5971 that were with him were about sixH8337 hundredH3967 menH376:

and AhijahH281, the sonH1121 of AhitubH285, Ichabod’sH350 brotherH251, the sonH1121 of PhinehasH6372, the sonH1121 of EliH5941, the priestH3548 of the LORDH3068 in ShilohH7887, wearingH5375 an ephodH646. And the peopleH5971 knewH3045 notH3808 that JonathanH3129 was goneH1980.

And betweenH996 the passesH5674, by whichH834 JonathanH3129 soughtH1245 to goH5674 over unto the Philistines’H6430 garrisonH4673, there was a rockyH5553 cragH8127 on the one sideH5676, and a rockyH5553 cragH8127 on the otherH259 sideH5676: and the nameH8034 of the one was BozezH949, and the nameH8034 of the otherH259 SenehH5573.

The one cragH8127 roseH4690 upH1387 on the northH6828 in frontH4136 of MichmashH4363, and the otherH259 on the southH5045 in frontH4136 of GebaH1387.

And JonathanH3083 saidH559 to the youngH5288 manH5288 that bare his armour, Come and let usH413 goH5674 over unto the garrisonH4673 of theseH428 uncircumcisedH6189: it may be that the LORDH3068 will work for usH413: for there is noH369 restraint to the LORDH3068 to saveH3467 by manyH7227 or by fewH4592.

And his armourbearer saidH559 unto him, DoH6213 allH3605 that is in thine heartH3824: turnH5186 thee, beholdH2005 I am with thee according to thy heartH3824.

Then saidH559 JonathanH3083, BeholdH2009, weH587 will passH5674 over unto the menH376, and weH587 will discover ourselvesH587 unto them.

IfH518 they sayH559 thusH3541 unto usH413, Tarry untilH5704 weH518 comeH5927 to youH518; then weH518 will standH5975 stillH5975 in our placeH8478, and will notH3808 goH5927 upH5927 unto them.

But ifH518 they sayH559 thusH3541, ComeH5927 upH5927 unto usH5414; then weH3588 will goH5927 upH5927: for the LORDH3068 hath deliveredH5414 them intoH5921 our handH3027: and this shall be the signH226 unto usH5414.

And bothH8147 of them discovered themselvesH2244 unto the garrisonH4673 of the PhilistinesH6430: and the PhilistinesH6430 saidH559, BeholdH2009, the HebrewsH5680 comeH3318 forthH3318 outH3318 of the holesH2356 whereH834 they had hidH2244 themselvesH2244.

And the menH376 of the garrison answeredH559 JonathanH3129 and his armourbearer, and saidH559, ComeH5927 upH5927 to usH5414, and weH3588 will shew youH3588 a thingH1697. And JonathanH3129 saidH559 unto his armourbearer, ComeH5927 upH5927 afterH310 meH413: for the LORDH3068 hath deliveredH5414 them intoH413 the handH3027 of IsraelH3478.

And JonathanH3129 climbedH5927 upH5927 uponH5921 his handsH3027 and uponH5921 his feetH7272, and his armourbearer afterH310 him: and they fellH5307 beforeH6440 JonathanH3129; and his armourbearer slew them afterH310 him.

And that firstH7223 slaughterH4347, whichH834 JonathanH3129 and his armourbearer madeH1961, was aboutH1961 twentyH6242 menH376 within as it were halfH2677 a furrow’s length in an acreH6776 of landH7704.

And there was a tremblingH2729 in the campH4264, in the fieldH7704, and among allH3605 the peopleH5971; the garrisonH4673, and the spoilers, they also trembledH7264: and the earthH776 quakedH7264; soH1961 there was an exceeding greatH430 tremblingH2729.

And the watchmenH6822 of SaulH7586 in GibeahH1390 of BenjaminH1144 lookedH7200; and, beholdH2009, the multitudeH1995 meltedH4127 awayH4127, and they went hither and thither.

Then saidH559 SaulH7586 unto the peopleH5971 that were with him, NumberH6485 nowH4994, and seeH7200 who is goneH1980 from usH4994. And when they had numberedH6485, beholdH2009, JonathanH3129 and his armourbearer were notH369 there.

And SaulH7586 saidH559 unto AhijahH281, BringH5066 hither the arkH727 of GodH430. For the arkH727 of GodH430 was there at that time with the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478.

And it cameH1961 to passH1961, whileH5704 SaulH7586 talkedH1696 unto the priestH3548, that the tumultH1995 that was in the campH4264 of the PhilistinesH6430 wentH1980 on and increased: and SaulH7586 saidH559 unto the priestH3548, WithdrawH622 thine handH3027.

And SaulH7586 and allH3605 the peopleH5971 that were with him were gathered togetherH2199, and cameH935 to the battleH4421: and, beholdH2009, everyH3605 man’sH376 swordH2719 was againstH854 his fellowH376, and there was a veryH3966 greatH1419 discomfiture.

NowH1961 the HebrewsH5680 that were with the PhilistinesH6430 as beforetime, whichH834 wentH5927 upH5927 with them intoH1961 the campH4264 from the country roundH5439 aboutH1961; evenH1571 they also turnedH1961 to be with the IsraelitesH3478 that were with SaulH7586 and JonathanH3129.

Likewise allH3605 the menH376 of IsraelH3478 whichH2022 had hidH2244 themselvesH310 in the hillH2022 countryH2022 of EphraimH669, when they heardH8085 that the PhilistinesH6430 fledH5127, evenH1571 they also followedH310 hardH2244 afterH310 them in the battleH4421.

SoH5674 the LORDH3068 savedH3467 IsraelH3478 that dayH3117: and the battleH4421 passedH5674 over by Beth-aven.
