Numbers 21:21-26

211Then IsraelH3478 sentH7971 messengersH4397 to SihonH5511, kingH4428 of the AmoritesH567, sayingH559,

22“2Let me passH5674 through your landH776. We will not turnH5186 offH5186 into fieldH7704 or vineyardH3754; we will not drinkH8354 waterH4325 from wellsH875. We will goH1980 by the king’sH4428 roadH1870 untilH5704H834 we have passedH5674 throughH5674 your borderH1366.”

233But SihonH5511 would not permitH5414 IsraelH3478 to passH5674 through his borderH1366. Instead, SihonH5511 gatheredH622 allH3605 his peopleH5971 and wentH3318 outH3318 againstH7122 IsraelH3478 in the wildernessH4057, and cameH935 to 4JahazH3096 and foughtH3898 against IsraelH3478.

24Then 5IsraelH3478 struckH5221 him with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719, and tookH3423 possessionH3423 of his landH776 from the ArnonH769 to the JabbokH2999, as farH5704 as the sonsH1121 of AmmonH5983; for the 6borderH1366 of the sonsH1121 of AmmonH5983 was 7JazerH3270.

25IsraelH3478 tookH3947 allH3605 theseH428 citiesH5892, and 8IsraelH3478 livedH3427 in allH3605 the citiesH5892 of the AmoritesH567, in HeshbonH2809 and in allH3605 her 9villagesH1323.

26For HeshbonH2809 was the cityH5892 of SihonH5511, kingH4428 of the AmoritesH567, whoH1931 had foughtH3898 against the formerH7223 kingH4428 of MoabH4124 and had takenH3947 allH3605 his landH776 out of his handH3027, as farH5704 as the ArnonH769.
