2 Samuel 24:10-25
10Now 1David’sH1732 heartH3820 2troubledH5221 him afterH310H3651 he had countedH5608 the peopleH5971. So DavidH1732 saidH559 to the LordH3068, “3I have sinnedH2398 greatlyH3966 in whatH834 I have doneH6213. But nowH6258, LordH3068, pleaseH4994 4overlookH5674 the guiltH5771 of Your servantH5650, for 5I have actedH5528 veryH3966 foolishlyH5528.” 11When DavidH1732 gotH6965 upH6965 in the morningH1242, the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 to 6GadH1410 the prophetH5030, David’sH1732 7seerH2374, sayingH559, 12“GoH1980 and speakH1696 to DavidH1732, ‘ThisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 the LordH3068 saysH559: “I am imposingH5190 upon you threeH7969 choices; chooseH977 for yourself oneH259 of them, and I will doH6213 it to you.”’” 13So GadH1410 cameH935 to DavidH1732 and toldH5046 him, and saidH559 to him, “Shall 8sevenH7651 yearsH8141 of famineH7458 comeH935 to you in your landH776? OrH518 will you fleeH5127 for threeH7969 monthsH2320 beforeH6440 your enemiesH6862 while they pursueH7291 you? Or shall there be threeH7969 daysH3117 of plagueH1698 in your landH776? NowH6258 considerH3045 and seeH7200 whatH4100 answerH1697 I shall returnH7725 to Him who sentH7971 me.” 14Then DavidH1732 saidH559 to GadH1410, “I am in greatH3966 distressH6887. Let us nowH4994 fallH5307 into the handH3027 of the LordH3068, 9for His merciesH7356 are greatH7227; but do not let me fallH5307 into humanH120 handsH3027.”
15So 10the LordH3068 11sentH5414 a plagueH1698 upon IsraelH3478 from the morningH1242 untilH5704 the appointedH4150 timeH6256, and seventyH7657 thousandH505 menH376 of the peopleH5971 12from DanH1835 to BeershebaH884 diedH4191. 1613When the angelH4397 extendedH7971 his handH3027 toward JerusalemH3389 to destroyH7843 it, 14the LordH3068 relentedH5162 of the disasterH7463 and saidH559 to the angelH4397 who destroyedH7843 the peopleH5971, “It is enoughH7227! NowH6258 dropH7503 your handH3027!” And the angelH4397 of the LordH3068 was by the threshingH1637 floorH1637 of AraunahH728 the JebusiteH2983. 17Then DavidH1732 spokeH559 to the LordH3068 when he sawH7200 the angelH4397 who was strikingH5221 downH5221 the peopleH5971, and saidH559, “BeholdH2009, 15it is I who have sinnedH2398, and it is I who have doneH5753 wrongH5753; but 16theseH428 sheepH6629, whatH4100 have they doneH6213? PleaseH4994 let Your handH3027 be against me and against my father’sH1 houseH1004!”
18So GadH1410 cameH935 to DavidH1732 that dayH3117 and saidH559 to him, “17GoH5927 upH5927, erectH6965 an altarH4196 to the LordH3068 on the threshingH1637 floorH1637 of 18AraunahH728 the JebusiteH2983.” 19Then DavidH1732 wentH5927 upH5927 in accordance with the wordH1697 of GadH1410, justH3512 asH3512 the LordH3068 had commandedH6680. 20And AraunahH728 lookedH8259 downH8259 and sawH7200 the kingH4428 and his servantsH5650 crossingH5674 overH5674 towardH5921 him; so AraunahH728 wentH3318 outH3318 and bowedH2331 his faceH639 to the groundH776 before the kingH4428. 21Then AraunahH728 saidH559, “WhyH4069 has my lordH113 the kingH4428 comeH935 to his servantH5650?” And DavidH1732 saidH559, “To buyH7069 the threshingH1637 floorH1637 from you, in order to buildH1129 an altarH4196 to the LordH3068, 19so that the plagueH4046 may be 20withdrawnH6113 from the peopleH5971.” 22AraunahH728 then saidH559 to DavidH1732, “Let my lordH113 the kingH4428 takeH3947 and offerH5927 upH5927 whatH2896 isH2896 goodH2896 in his sightH5869. LookH7200, here are 21the oxenH1241 for the burntH5930 offeringH5930, the threshingH4173 sledgesH4173 and the yokesH3627 of the oxenH1241 for the woodH6086. 23EverythingH3605, O kingH4428, AraunahH728 givesH5414 to the kingH4428.” And AraunahH728 saidH559 to the kingH4428, “May the LordH3068 your GodH430 beH7521 22favorableH7521 to you.” 24However, the kingH4428 saidH559 to AraunahH728, “NoH3808, but I will certainlyH7069 buyH7069 it from you for a priceH4242; for 23I will not offerH5927 burntH5930 offeringsH5930 to the LordH3068 my GodH430 24thatH2600 costH2600 me nothingH2600.” So 25DavidH1732 boughtH7069 the threshingH1637 floorH1637 and the oxenH1241 for fiftyH2572 shekelsH8255 of silverH3701. 25Then DavidH1732 builtH1129 thereH8033 an altarH4196 to the LordH3068, and he offeredH5927 burntH5930 offeringsH5930 and peaceH8002 offeringsH8002. And 26the LordH3068 respondedH6279 toH6279 prayerH6279 for the landH776, and the plagueH4046 was 27withdrawnH6113 from IsraelH3478.
