Romans 6:12-23

12Therefore sin is not to 1reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13and do not go on 2presenting 3the parts of your body to sin as 4instruments of unrighteousness; but 5present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead, and 6your body’s parts as 7instruments of righteousness for God. 14For 8sin shall not 9be master over you, for 10you are not under 11the Law but 12under grace.

15What then? 13Are we to sin because we are not under 14the Law but under grace? 1516Far from it! 16Do you not 17know that the one to whom you present yourselves as 18slaves for obedience, you are slaves of that same one whom you obey, either of 19sin 20resulting in death, or of obedience 21resulting in righteousness? 17But 22thanks be to God that 23though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that 2425form of teaching to which you were entrusted, 18and after being 26freed from sin, you became slaves to righteousness. 1927I am speaking 28in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just 29as you presented 30the parts of your body as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, 31resulting in further lawlessness, so now present 32your body’s parts as slaves to righteousness, 33resulting in sanctification.

20For 34when you were slaves of sin, you were free in relation to righteousness. 21Therefore what 3536benefit were you then 37deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is 38death. 22But now having been 39freed from sin and 40enslaved to God, you 41derive your 4243benefit, 44resulting in sanctification, and 45the outcome, eternal life. 23For the wages of 46sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is 47eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
