Romans 5:5-21
and hope 1does not disappoint, because the love of God has been 2poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
For while we were still 3helpless, 4at the right time 5Christ died for the ungodly. 7For one will hardly die for a righteous person; 6though perhaps for the good person someone would even dare to die. 8But God 7demonstrates 8His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, 9Christ died for us. 9Much more then, having now been justified 1011by His blood, we shall be saved 12from the wrath of God through Him. 10For if while we were 13enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved 1415by His life. 1116And not only this, but 17we also celebrate in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received 18the reconciliation.
Therefore, just as through 19one man sin entered into the world, and 20death through sin, and 21so death spread to all mankind, because all sinned-- 13for 22until the Law sin was in the world, but 23sin is not 24counted against anyone when there is no law. 14Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned 25in the likeness of the 26violation committed by Adam, who is a 2728type of Him who was to come.
But 29the gracious gift is not like the offense. For if by the offense of 30the one 31the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by 32the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many. 16The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand 33the judgment arose from one offense, 34resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the gracious gift arose from many offenses, 35resulting in justification. 17For if by the offense of the one, death reigned 36through the one, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness 37reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
So then, as through 38one offense 39the result was condemnation to all mankind, so also through one 40act of righteousness 41the result was 42justification of life to all mankind. 19For as through the one man’s disobedience 43the many 44were made sinners, so also through 45the obedience of the One 46the many will be made righteous. 204748The Law came in so that the offense would increase; but where sin increased, 49grace abounded all the more, 21so that, as 50sin reigned in death, so also 51grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
