Romans 5:5-21

and hope 1does not disappoint, because the love of God has been 2poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

For while we were still 3helpless, 4at the right time 5Christ died for the ungodly. 7For one will hardly die for a righteous man; 6though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. 8But God 7demonstrates 8His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, 9Christ died for us. 9Much more then, having now been justified 1011by His blood, we shall be saved 12from the wrath of God through Him. 10For if while we were 13enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved 1415by His life. 1116And not only this, 17but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received 18the reconciliation.

Therefore, just as through 19one man sin entered into the world, and 20death through sin, and 21so death spread to all men, because all sinned-- 13for 22until the Law sin was in the world, but 23sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned 24in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a 2526type of Him who was to come.

But 27the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of 28the one 29the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by 30the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. 16The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand 31the judgment arose from one transgression 32resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions 33resulting in justification. 17For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned 34through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will 35reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

So then as through 36one transgression 37there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one 38act of righteousness 39there resulted 40justification of life to all men. 19For as through the one man’s disobedience 41the many 42were made sinners, even so through 43the obedience of the One 44the many will be made righteous. 204546The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, 47grace abounded all the more, 21so that, as 48sin reigned in death, even so 49grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
