Proverbs 3

The Rewards of Wisdom

1My son, 1do not forget my 2teaching, But let your heart 3keep my commandments;2For 4length of days and years of life And peace they will add to you.3Do not let 5kindness and truth leave you; 6Bind them around your neck, 7Write them on the tablet of your heart.4So you will 8find favor and 9good 10repute In the sight of God and man.511Trust in the Lord with all your heart And 12do not lean on your own understanding.6In all your ways 13acknowledge Him, And He will 14make your paths straight.715Do not be wise in your own eyes; 16Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.8It will be 17healing to your 18body And 19refreshment to your bones.920Honor the Lord from your wealth And from the 21first of all your produce;10So your 22barns will be filled with plenty And your 23vats will overflow with new wine.1124My son, do not reject the 25discipline of the Lord Or loathe His reproof,12For 26whom the Lord loves He reproves, Even 27as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

1328How blessed is the man who finds wisdom And the man who gains understanding.14For her 29profit is better than the profit of silver And her gain better than fine gold.15She is 30more precious than 31jewels; And nothing you desire compares with her.163233Long life is in her right hand; In her left hand are 34riches and honor.17Her 35ways are pleasant ways And all her paths are 36peace.18She is a 37tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who hold her fast.19The Lord 38by wisdom founded the earth, By understanding He 39established the heavens.20By His knowledge the 40deeps were broken up And the 41skies drip with dew.21My son, 42let them not 43vanish from your sight; Keep sound wisdom and discretion,22So they will be 44life to your soul And 45adornment to your neck.23Then you will 46walk in your way securely And your foot will not 47stumble.24When you 48lie down, you will not be afraid; When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.2549Do not be afraid of sudden fear Nor of the 5051onslaught of the wicked when it comes;26For the Lord will be 52your confidence And will 53keep your foot from being caught.

2754Do not withhold good from 55those to whom it is due, When it is in your power to do it.2856Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come back, And tomorrow I will give it,” When you have it with you.2957Do not devise harm against your neighbor, While he lives securely beside you.3058Do not contend with a man without cause, If he has done you no harm.3159Do not envy a man of violence And do not choose any of his ways.32For the 60devious are an abomination to the Lord; But 61He is 62intimate with the upright.33The 63curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked, But He 64blesses the dwelling of the righteous.34Though 65He scoffs at the scoffers, Yet 66He gives grace to the afflicted.3567The wise will inherit honor, But fools 68display dishonor.
