Philemon 1:8-14

Therefore, 1though I have 2enough confidence in Christ to order you to do what is 3proper,

yet for love’s sake I rather 4appeal to you--since I am such a person as Paul, 5an 6old man, and now also 7a prisoner of 8Christ Jesus--

I 9appeal to you for my 1011son 1213Onesimus, whom I 14fathered in my 15imprisonment,

who previously was useless to you, but now is useful both to you and to me.

I have sent him back to you in person, that is, sending my very heart,

whom I wanted to keep with me, so that in your behalf he might be at my service in my 1617imprisonment for the gospel;

but I did not want to do anything without your consent, so that your goodness would 18not be, in effect, by compulsion, but of your own free will.
