Titus 3

Godly Living

1 1Remind them 2to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be 3ready for every good deed, 2to slander no one, 4not to be contentious, to be 5gentle, 6showing every consideration for all people. 3 7For we too were once foolish, 8disobedient, 9deceived, 10enslaved to 11various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in 12malice and 13envy, hateful, hating one another. 4But when the 14kindness of 15God our Savior and His love for mankind 16appeared, 5 17He saved us, 18not on the basis of deeds which we did in righteousness, but 19in accordance with His mercy, by the 20washing of regeneration and 21renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6 22whom He 23richly poured out upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7so that being justified by His grace we would be made 24heirs 25according to the hope of eternal life. 8 26This statement is trustworthy; and concerning these things I 27want you to speak confidently, so that those who have 28believed God will be careful to 29engage in good deeds. These things are good and beneficial for people. 9But 30avoid 31foolish controversies and 32genealogies and strife and 33disputes about the Law, for they are 34useless and worthless. 10 35Reject a 36 37divisive person 38after a first and second warning, 11knowing that such a person has 39deviated from what is right and is sinning, being self-condemned.

Personal Concerns

12When I send Artemas or 40Tychicus to you, 41make every effort to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to 42spend the winter there. 13Diligently help Zenas the 43lawyer and 44Apollos on their way so that nothing is lacking for them. 14 45Our people must also learn to 46engage in good 47deeds to meet 48pressing needs, so that they will not be 49unproductive.

15 50All who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us 51in the faith.
