Matthew 16:19

19I will give you 1the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and 2whatever you 3bind on earth 4shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you 5loose on earth 6shall have been loosed in heaven.”

Context of Matthew 16:19

17And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.” 20Then He gave the disciples strict orders that they were to tell no one that He was the Christ. 21From that time Jesus began to point out to His disciples that it was necessary for Him to go to Jerusalem and to suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and to be killed, and to be raised up on the third day.
