Context of Mark 11:24
22And Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted to him. Therefore, I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted to you. 25And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you for your offenses. 26[But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your offenses.”]

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 11-26Verses 11-26 See this passage explained in the notes at Matthew 21:18-22. Mark 11:11 Into the temple - Not into the edifice properly called “the temple,” but into the “courts” which surrounded the principal edifice. Our Saviour, not being of the tribe of Levi, was not permitted to enter into the holy or most holy place; and when, therefore, it is said that he went into the “temple,” it is always to be understood of the “courts” surrounding the temple. - Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 19-26Verses 19-26 The disciples could not think why that fig-tree should so soon wither away; but all wither who reject Christ; it represented the state of the Jewish church. We should rest in no religion that does not make us fruitful in good works. Christ taught them from hence to pray in faith. It may be applied to that mighty faith with which all true Christians are endued, and which does wonders in spiritual things. It justifies us, and so removes…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 24-25Two additional sayings on prayer are connected to 11:23 by the word believe. In the first (11:24), we are told that we will receive what we ask for (see Matt 7:7) if we pray with the faith described in Mark 11:23. Forgiveness is the second condition for answered prayer. Only when we forgive others can our most important prayer, that God forgive us, be answered (Matthew 5:23–24; 6:12, 14–15; Luke 6:37; 11:4; compare Luke 7:41–43, 47; Ephesians 4:32…Read the comment
